Are There Concerns Regarding Adverse Effects To Eating Chia Seeds? The "running food" or "stamina food" like it is frequently referenced as, chia seeds are the exact same seeds which are germinated to "grow hair" on the infamous chia pet. Often, the first time an individual even hears the word "chia", unfortunately it is concerning the chia pet. almost nothing is known of the health and therapeutic benefits of these tiny seeds. Chia seeds are reported to: provide double the healthy protein of most other seeds and grains, provide 3x the antioxidant levels of blueberries, be a rich source of calcium and provide the mineral boron... which can help with the assimilation and usage of calcium, offer 3x the iron present in spinach, and provide twice more potassium than a banana. More commonly understood about the chia seed is that it is an excellent source of necessary fatty acids (the 'good' fats). Additionally, adding chia seeds into the daily food regimen has proven to boost the nutrient absorption of all foods, including supplements. Chia has been taken as an aid for GERD, ulcers, gastritis and also irritable bowel syndrome. Potential Adverse Effects Of Eating Chia Though it is sometimes encouraged to consume these seeds considering the vast health advantages that have been observed, there is still not that much known to come to a judgment whether or not any noted adverse effects are consistent enough to be grounds for enormous concern. Some of the adverse effects recorded in independent tests: It has been suggested that it is a possibility, that consuming too many chia seeds may lower blood pressure in older people. Chia also provides you a significant supply of B vitamins, so it is necessary to be very careful if you are supplementing with any B supplements. Some individuals have noted a slight increase in gas upon eating a handful of the seeds. The higher than average fiber content could easily be guilty for that.

It has been noticed that individuals that have allergy symptoms when it comes to mustard seeds have usually noticed a similar reaction after consuming chia. Being a rich source of Omega 3's which possess the potential to thin the blood, some researchers advise that those who are taking blood thinners, hemophiliacs, those planning a surgery, and those on an aspirin treatment may be best not eating chia seeds. Coming from the 'Salvia' plant family, some experts suggest not having chia day after day since it could very well have addictive effects when consuming it consistently in sizable amounts. The adverse effects of chia seeds with pregnant women have not yet been examined significantly, so it's best not to consume chia while pregnant or breast feeding to reduce risk. Adhering to the following dosages should really help you steer away from any of the possible adverse effects of eating chia seeds. For grownups, taking a couple of tablespoons of ground up or soaked chia every day for about three weeks out of each month is possibly a safe dosage, about half that for children. To aid in cardiac health, perhaps doubling the recommended adult dosage would be beneficial. However, similar to any dietary modification, it is often best to seek out the advice of a health specialist prior to committing to any changes.
