Raw Vegan Diet On the topic of healthy eating, a lot of health advocates feel that a raw vegan diet is the most healthful diet for both humans and animals. Other people feel including a bit of raw beef, and also fish (assuming the meat was raised and fed healthfully), and some raw eggs (with the same caveat as meat - brought up healthfully), into the raw diet is necessary to achieve optimum health.

Enzymes For Digestion Whether a person decides on a raw veggie diet or a diet that has raw animal flesh, fish or eggs, the food being in the raw state is suggested to NOT be void of enzymes. Enzymes, it is suggested, are necessary for the proper assimilation and digestion of all foods, and each and every type of food has it's own enzyme that the body needs to help with assimilation. Although there are differing opinions, it has been suggested that if the food does not have the important enzymes in tact, the body may have to use some from the limited store that exists inside of the body. The said enzymes are necessary for plenty of bodily functions and as they become exhausted needlessly, it is said that it is conducive to early symptoms of aging.

Keeping Food “Raw” Aside from a reduction of enzymes in cooked foods, it is said that the nutrient value of the food is also destroyed. In essence, the mineral and vitamin content is destroyed, many times to the magnitude of being completely deprived of any healthful value. Some heat can be applied to a food for it to be still considered "raw" and end up with minimal or no loss of nutritional benefit. As a matter of fact, many raw diet recipes are created applying heat utilizing a food dehydrating appliance. The food dehydrator can be set to be certain that it does not reach the "maximum" temperature permitted for the food to be still considered "raw". That temperature may change dependent on who is asked (also for what food) but a temperature of about 46 Celsius is a safe heat.

Food Combining When talking about the raw food diet, raw foodies look at all scenarios. They faithfully go after optimum health. They also look at food combining. It is said that eating certain foods in one meal may possibly bring on fermentation or

digestive concerns. The mixing rules are complex and a very big chart was concocted to try and make matters simpler. Plenty of raw fooders try mono eating to prevent any food combining problems. This involves consuming one single whole food and waiting for it to digest before consuming any more food. This has the potential advantage where your body will index the beneficial benefit from the whole food and generate cravings for that food when your body lacks a certain nutrient that the food has. As an example, if the body needs potassium it may create cravings for a banana assuming you have consumed a banana by itself in the past and permitted it to completely digest before taking in any more foods. When talking about the raw vegan diet, a general rule of thumb is to never combine fruits with any other foods, and that includes vegetables. However, mixing fruits with green veggies, as you may do when making green smoothies has shown to not have the same negative affects as mixing vegetables and fruits. Greens, although considered to be veggies, as they are usually called "dark green leafy vegetables", are now usually added into a class all their own. So, raw fooders might differentiate greens, fruits and veggies.

Why Raw? Whatever the situation an individual looks to a raw vegan diet, be it for simplicity and/or health, the biggest assertion for a raw vegan diet may be that we should very well be consuming what nature has provided for us, and maybe we should be consuming it in it's unprocessed form. Like with any other dietary change, please check with your doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet.
