FROM THE DIRECTOR

Great things are happening in Glendale! Recently, we hosted Super Bowl LVII and the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium. One of the many benefits of these types of events is the community partnerships that develop. Thanks to Fiesta Bowl Charities, KABOOM!, the BHHS Legacy Foundation, Palo Verde, and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, O’Neil Park has two new playgrounds, a sport court, and new sports turf. All of which were built from the ground up by over 150 volunteers and workers.

As we marvel at the athletes participating in sports entertainment events, we are reminded that safety in recreation is a priority. Ensuring our parks and recreation equipment and facilities are well-maintained and safe is essential to your safe enjoyment of the programs we provide.

To create desirable spaces where you, your friends, and your family can relax and recreate, we are working on improvements to many of our parks and recreation facilities including Sahuaro Ranch Park, Thunderbird Conservation Park, Glendale Heroes Regional Park, Glendale Community Center, Rose Lane Community Center, and O’Neil Recreation Center. We are dedicated to maintaining places that improve the lives of those we serve in our community.

Public Facilities, Recreation & Special Events Mission Statement

I invite you to visit our pools at Rose Lane Aquatics Complex and Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center. Both pools were recently renovated and offer a great place to cool off from the summer heat. Please also visit our splash pads located at O’Neil Park, Glendale Heroes Regional Park, and Sunset Palms Park. These are all great spots to join family and friends for some summer fun. So, grab your towels, sunscreen, and drinking water – we’ll see you there!

As you look for ideas to enjoy these summer months, we wish you good health and well-being. Stay cool!
