Think Long & Lean When Layering your Clothes

When Layering Think Long & Lean YOUR CLOTHES

by Michelle Beck, Owner, Purple Clover Boutique

It seems as soon as the “back to school” advertising starts to appear we start thinking about fall and our wardrobes!

The good news is that you probably have the foundation pieces already in your closet. By adding a few new items and wearing some summer classics in a different way you will be ready for the new season. Here are some tips for transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall:

1. Keep your maxi dresses and maxi skirts available. The flowy styles of these summer classics transition beautifully into fall. Simply add a short or a long sleeve tee under your dress, or pair it with a denim jacket for the cooler temperatures.

Another option is to add a chambray shirt and wear it as a jacket! The shirt/jacket or “shacket” trend is still very much in style and practical. 2. Remember to layer. Layered looks aren’t only fashionable, they are very practical. How do you know how to do this? Remember to layer long over lean.

This means taking your longer length tops and tunics over leaner bottoms, such as tights, leggings or skinny jeans.

Indeed, the skinny jean is still in style, especially as we head into fall. By following the “long over lean” rule you can avoid the bulkiness that can sometimes happen with layering.
