Rangers Season Schedule
Baseball
Globe Life Park. The first row of seating behind home plate on the upper concourse is estimated at 30 feet closer to the field than its predecessor. “At the end of the day that’s what we want; we want a premium experience for all the fans, not just the ones in the premium seats,” Rangers Executive Vice President of Business Operations Rob Matwick said.
The Final Stretch: Since breaking ground in September 2017, work has stayed on schedule to progress to the fast-approaching March of 2020 opening date. “Normally construction seems to move so slowly that it seems like you can look at the same thing for a week and nothing happens. This project to me has been exactly the opposite of that,” Matwick said.
The ballpark is currently transforming from a construction zone into the completed vision, as tile, fixtures and cabinetry are being installed on all levels of the facility.
For the last 30 months, over 1,500 individuals have worked over five million man hours to turn the Rangers’ vision into reality.
“That’s how things happen so fast because there are [so many] people focused on their specific area of work,” Matwick added.
The last few weeks of construction will be focused on interior finishes, as well as final details for the 240,000 square foot retractable roof. Final work for the synthetic grass surface will also be finalized, making sure the field is ready before the Rangers take on the St. Louis Cardinals in the first exhibition game on March 23rd. Just a week later, the Rangers host their first Opening Day at Globe Life Field, taking on the division rivals Los Angeles Angels.
