Welcome Letters
YAVAPAI COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Welcome to the 134th Annual World’s Oldest Rodeo®
“True. Western. Determination”
In Prescott, Arizona since the year 1888, this traditional western event during the Fourth of July weekend includes parades and pagentry, dances and of course the rodeo itself. These activities are for all age groups to enjoy while celebrating our western heritage and the birth of our beloved nation.
As in 1888, the first rodeo was a reflection of our “True. Western. Determination.” to keep our heritage alive and celebrate our people’s love of the outdoors and the western work ethic that has served this nation so well before and since. Through the years and even now, the western life style has been the envy of people throughout the world and still is alive and well today. Please celebrate it with us! We want to thank all the folks from all over this world for coming to Yavapai County and the City of Prescott area to enjoy this truly international event. Please visit our downtown establishments and the western hospitality that can be found there, enjoy time in our open space areas, maybe take a stroll on one of our many trails in the rocky hills or through the pine covered forest. However, please don’t forget the rodeo!!
The entire Board of Supervisors for Yavapai County wishes for you to have a wonderful holiday here in Yavapai County and we know you’ll enjoy the World’s Oldest Rodeo® .
Sincerely, Craig L. Brown, Chairman Yavapai County Board of Supervisors District 4
CITY OF PRESCOTT - OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
Greetings, Rodeo Fans, and Welcome to Prescott:
We are thrilled to host the 134th edition of the iconic World’s Oldest Rodeo®. Particularly this year, Prescott Frontier Days® is one of our most anticipated and celebrated events. We are so pleased to be able to host in-person events again in Prescott. I am also proud that, even during the pandemic, the rodeo went on, keeping the tradition alive and well.
Prescott cherishes our history and Western heritage, as the First Territorial Capital of Arizona. Prescott is home to the legendary Whiskey Row, the Sharlot Hall Museum, which houses the territorial governor’s mansion, the Phippen Museum of Western Art, the Western Heritage Center, and the Museum of Indigenous Peoples.
Prescott is an ideal place for those seeking a historic, charming community surrounded by natural beauty, infused with culture and higher education. With a comfortable year-round climate, access to the Prescott National Forest, over 500 miles of multiuse trails, five sporting lakes, and four museums, Prescott offers “Old West” culture mixed with artistic creativity and a love of the outdoors. Earlier this year, True West Magazine named Prescott “Best Old West Town to Live In.”
While in Prescott be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind, locally-owned shops, restaurants, bars, breweries and cafes that add to the unique charm of our city.
Thank you for joining us to celebrate the 134th World’s Oldest Rodeo® and nearly 175 years of rich Prescott history. Enjoy the rodeo, and best of luck to all of our riders and contestants!
Sincerely,
Greg Mengarelli
Greg Mengarelli Mayor, City of Prescott
It is with great anticipation that we welcome the World’s Oldest Rodeo® back to Yavapai County again this year! After a long and challenging year, this event gives our community the opportunity to get out, create and relive unique memories; continuing the tradition of bringing one of the most exciting local events to you, our rodeo fans!
Even during a pandemic, when most rodeos were postponed or canceled last summer, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® limited capacity and made several Covid-19 preventing adjustments and was a success. This year the rodeo is gearing up to be an awesome event! As the local Public Health Director, I have worked with the rodeo planning committee and it is my hope that this event will provide a safe venue that brings out the spirit of community and entertainment that has always been a part of rodeo history here in Yavapai County.
To accommodate the needs of those who cannot attend in-person, the rodeo is likely to be televised to alternate Prescott locations and possibly on television for additional viewing and enjoyment.
It is a pleasure to be a part of the planning of this event, and I hope that you, the fans, will bring your family out to safely enjoy the rodeo, our local businesses, and our beautiful community.
Sincerely,
Leslie Horton, MA, MCHES, Director, Local Health Officer, Yavapai County Community Health Services

On behalf of the residents and Town Council of Chino Valley, it is my pleasure to welcome all fans of Prescott Frontier Days®, Home of the World’s Oldest Rodeo® .
During your visit we encourage you to take a short drive to see us in the plains and rolling hills of Yavapai County. Our small town offers a variety of family activities including our spacious aquatic center and numerous parks where the kids can burn some energy and earn a good night’s sleep. Chino Valley offers a wonderful location to cycle, walk, hike, jog, or ride horseback on our section of the Peavine Trail (but don’t forget your water and sun protection). Our local eateries will greet you with small town charm and customer service but provide you with big city flavor and satisfaction. Chino Valley may be a small town, but there is something here for everyone.
From the friendly people who help provide that smalltown atmosphere, to the sprawling landscapes brimming with opportunity, to the quiet evenings offering rest and relaxation, we believe you will love Chino Valley as much as we do.
