President’s Letter
A RodeoWelcome
Chris Graff, President Welcome, rodeo fans, to the 135th World’s Oldest Rodeo® presented by Prescott Frontier Days® Inc. and our magnificent sponsors! Having the distinction of the birthplace of rodeo and our extremely rich tradition, we are the definition of “Authentic Western Rodeo.” We have an exciting eight performances that are sure to be PRCA’s best of 2022, plus brand-new bucking chutes, arena, and the addition of mutton bustin’. We will finally be watching the youth compete on sheep prior to the performance, and it is sure to be a thrill for fans and kids.

We will have the top contestants in our great sport competing for increased prize money thanks to the board of directors and our GM, Jim Dewey Brown, with his vision to continue to grow the prominence of our hometown rodeo. We also welcome back our partners, the Vold Rodeo Company and their pickup men (Dalton Ward and Ty Atchison). The Volds have been bringing us top quality stock for over 50 years and of course the pickup men keep the livestock and cowboys safe. Our announcer Randy Corley is looking forward to having a partner in the announcer’s stand, James Horcasitas. This team-up will be entertaining and sure to keep the fans informed all through the night. We are very proud to have our Barrelman Justin Rumford back again and three-time PRCA Specialty Act of the year Bobby Kerr and his Mustangs.
We have many other activities planned during Prescott Frontier Days, and this year is no exception. We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of the movie “Junior Bonner” filmed right here in Prescott. We want to thank all the local organizations that have planned and worked together with us to make this year extra special, including the ramrod Stuart Rosebrook. We encourage you to join us for the parade on July 2nd Downtown around the Plaza and see “Junior Bonner”-themed displays by our parade entries, including the Prescott Frontier Days Board of Directors aboard the wagon pulled by the powerful Broken Spoke Clydesdales. The Rodeo Dance will continue at Depot Marketplace after the rodeo on Thursday through Saturday. New this year, the DTX (Downtown Rodeo Experience) at Mile High Middle school’s field off Goodwin Street includes vendors, entertainment for the youth, and livestreaming of the rodeo Thursday through Sunday (five shows) and tons of good fun! After you attend the rodeo, check out and enjoy the DTX. Bring your friends.
We hope you have an amazing experience in Prescott and truly enjoy all we have planned for the 135th World’s Oldest Rodeo and Prescott Frontier Days celebration 2022! Thank you to all the volunteers that make this the No. 1 Best Historic Rodeo in the country, and God Bless!
Safe and Happy Trails Y’all and Stay Cowboy!
Chris Graff
