RECONAEDICULE THE OBJECTIVE FOR THIS PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A SPACE OF DISCOURSE THAT WOULD BRING TWO STRANGERS TOGETHER TO SIT AND TALK. THE PROGRAM FOR THE “RECONAEDICULE” IS COMPRISED OF ONE SIDE THAT REPRESENTS A STABLE CONDITION WHERE A PERSON CAN SIT AND TALK FOR LONGER TIME PERIODS, WHILE THE OTHER REPRESENTS A DYNAMIC CONDITION THAT PEOPLE MOVE THROUGH MORE QUICKLY. THIS WAS A SIX MEMBER TEAM PROJECT SUBDIVIDED TO CARRYOUT, CONCEPT DRAWINGS AND CONCEPT FABRICATION. THE RECONAEDICULE WAS TO BE FABRICATED WITH ‘EVERYDAY’ MATERIALS WITHIN A 4’X8’X8’ PARAMETER WHICH RESULTED IN STYROFOAM CUPS AND STRING AS SELECTED BUILDING MATERIALS.

MAISON RECETTE A SINGLE FAMILY HOME WAS PROPOSED FOR A SITE IN JOHNSON, ARKANSAS. THE PROGRAM REQUIRED LIVING, KITCHEN, EATING, WASHING AND TWO BEDROOM SPACES TO ACCOMMODATE 12-1400 SF. THE SITE FEATURED AN EXISTING BARN FOUNDATION WHICH IS THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED HOUSE. THE HOUSE IS SITUATED IN THE BARN FOUNDATION AS A MEANS OF MEETING SPECIFIED PROJECT REQUIREMENT OF AN ‘IN’ GROUND CONDITION FOR THE HOUSE’S DESIGN. Ground Floor Plan Scale: 81"=1'-0"

CODA SCHOOL OF BALLET A SCHOOL OF BALLET WAS PROPOSED FOR AN INFILL SITE IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. THE PROGRAM REQUIRED TWO LARGE DANCE STUDIOS, FOUR SMALL DANCE STUDIOS, A BLACK BOX THEATER, ADMINISTRATION OFFICES, LOUNGE AREAS, CHANGING ROOMS AND RESTROOMS TO ACCOMMODATE 1520,000 +/- SF. THE INFILL SITE WAS SET IN AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT WITH A 50’X100’ BUILDING PARAMETER SET BY TWO ADJACENT BUILDINGS. FOCUS WAS PLACED ON ADDRESSING THE BUILDING’S FAÇADE AND HOW TO BRING LIGHT INTO THE BUILDING CORE THROUGH SECTION. SEVERAL VERTICAL PUNCTURES, INCLUDING AN ATRIUM, WERE USED TO BRING LIGHT DOWN INTO THE MULTISTORY BUILDING. THE FAÇADE OF THE BUILDING WAS ADDRESSED BY USING A PERFORATED SCREEN WITH PATTERNS OF LARGER PUNCTURES.

LONGITUDINAL SECTION PERSPECTIVE



BRANCH LIBRARY AT AUDUBON TERRACE A BRANCH LIBRARY WAS PROPOSED FOR THE AUDUBON TERACE SITE IN MANHATTAN, NEW YORK. ITS FOUNDATIONAL GOAL WAS TO MAKE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE TO ALL AND TO SERVE AS A CIVIC CENTER FOR ITS COMMUNITY. FOR THIS PROPOSAL, AN ABSTRACTED MAP OF MANHATTAN’S URBAN OPEN SPACES WAS INTEGRATED IN THE FACADE OF THE BUILDING AS PUNCTURES. THESE PUNCTURES ALLOW THE VISITOR TO BOTH BE IMMERSED IN THE CULTURE OF BOOKS AS WELL AS BE CONNECTED TO THE CITY.
