All of this book content involved the process of learning, accomplishment, failure and relearning and spinning around like that. Hence the concept of this typeface is the journey and growth itself. For every phase of that is how I’ve improved and how I’ve created my portfolio. In taking the journey and growth keyword, I was reminded by the growth cycle in nature itself and how nature formed beauty through imperfection. Typeface “PORTFOLIO” was formed with that in mind.

Having enthusiasm on art since I was a child, currently I am developing my passion in illustration and graphic design field. I studied in BINUS University majoring in Visual Communication Design. I have been participating as design coordinator for some events and as participants in some art exhibitions. I did illustration in both traditional and digital way using pencil color, pencil, watercolor. I usually did my graphic design using Adobe Indesign, Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Okky Koko Drink is an Indonesian drink product. It contains flavored coconut water and nata de coco. Their slogan is “nikmati kenyalnya sekaligus nikmati seratnya” (you feel the elastic sensation and enjoy the fiber). I redesigned the logo with 2 ways of approach. One is the geometric approach to enhance the modernity of the product and the second one is the illustrative approach to add fun aspect to it.


Packaging Design

The first logo is a geometric logotype. Using perfect geometry rule, I wanted to bring out the modern identity and aimed to set it apart from other similar brand’s product logotype. I approached the second logotype using illustrative style. I aimed to remind people of the coconut and jinggly nata de coco

The third logo is the improvised version of the second logo. This time, I changed the coconut shape into more natural ‘o’ and the ‘o’ itself will remind people of the opened coconut shell.

CROCODILE Phase : Assignment Scoop of work : Packaging Design and Illustration Tools of trade : Adobe Illustrator

“CROCODILE” is an educative toy from Indonesia. With its ability to look and feel, it will stimulate children’s visual and audiotary. The fun of this toy meets the development o children’s curiosity, thinking ability and the logical intelligence. Overall illustration represents crocodile and when the box is opened it will feel like the crocodile is also opening its mouth. Applying this geometric illustration will bring out the modernity in one hand and joy in another hand.

Packaging Design

The color palette from the first logotype is the fun spring color. Other than the fun factor, this color combined with geometric typeface give us the feeling of kids’ toys. The second alternative to the brand is a more illustrative one. I used the perfect geometry rule to form a geometrical crocodile illustration The third alternative is also formed using the perfect geometry. Compared to the second alternative, the third logo is made to resemble the original crocodile toy more. The advantage of this logo is that people can picture the real crocodile toy from only seeing the logo.

Tulisan Sebagai Awal Berkembangnya Tipografi hal Tipografi, Musik, Dan Puisi hal

Beberapa ‘isme’ desain Barat tidak dapat dipungkiri telah masuk ke alam pikiran kita akibat adanya proses globalisasi. Artikel ini membahas pengaruh beberapa ‘isme’ desain grafis Barat yang mempengaruhi konsepsi desain kita dalam lingkup pendidikan maupun profesi. Konsepsi tersebut sebetulnya adalah ‘versi sadar’ dan apa yang biasa kita sebut sense atau taste desain. Namun perlu ditegaskan, di sini sama sekali tidak dimaksudkan untuk memuja atau mengutuk desain Barat. Artikel ini ditujukan untuk merangsang sikap kritis dan sadar atas sense atau taste desain kita masing-masing yang telah terpengaruh beberapa ‘isme’ desain Barat tersebut. Dengan disadari, keuntungan yang dapat diambil adalah konsepsi desain kita menjadi lebih sadar sehingga lebih dapat dijabarkan dikembangkan, serta dapat pula dipertanggungjawabkan oleh kita. Sense atau taste sering menjadi ‘senjata’ andalan desainer dalam menyelesaikan problem desain. Akan tetapi perlu diingat bahwa ‘senjata’ itu sebetulnya memuat konsepsi-konsepsi tertentu yang diterima dari pembelajaran dan praktik, entah disadari atau tidak. Persoalannya memang, pernahkah sang desainer kini mempertanyakan asal-usul sense atau taste-nya? Konsepsi desain Barat apa saja yang membentuknya? Desainer yang tanpa sadar terpengaruh Swiss Style misalnya, akan lebih sulit menerima desain berkonsep Vernacular karena jauh berbeda karakteristiknya. Masalah menjadi lebih luas jika sang desainer berperan sebagai pengajar. Ia tanpa sadar cenderung menekankan satu paham misalnya Swiss Style tadi kepada puluhan mahasiswa yang punya minat dan kecenderungan berbeda-

beda. Namun, sang pengajar tidak menyadari bahwa dirinya sebetulnya cuma terpengaruh. Belum lagi perdebatan antara sang pengajar dengan pengajar lainnya yang tanpa sadar terpengaruh New York School. Ceritanya akan lain jika keduanya menyadari status masing-masing sebagai orang yang sama-sama terpengaruh. Intinya bukan seberapa ‘benar’ taste masing-masing tetapi pada apa yang mempengaruhi sehingga taste-nya menjadi sedemikian rupa. Menyadari pengaruh suatu ‘isme’ sebenarnya membantu untuk lebih mudah dalam mengungkap dan membentuk ‘jati diri desain’ kita sendiri.

The book is aimed to be a modified reference book for fashion enthusiasts towards new ideas that can be developed from Tasikmalaya Embroidery. To represent the beauty of Tasikamalaya embroidery, the visual concept of the cover is to showcase the embroidery style of Tasikmalaya Embroidery and application in kebaya, tablecloth, gamis, blazer. I modified Garamond Typeface into a more decorative typeface as to reflect the decorative aspect of the embroidery, but still maintain the classy, elegant and organic characteristic of Garamond.

Amotsyamsurimuda is a fashion designer based in Indonesia which in Amot’s show “Nower than Now” evoke the meaning and idea of hypernatural.

Hypernature also includes modification of nonliving matter by living organisms for the purposes of reshaping their physical environments.

In this collaboration, I tried to convey the relationship of insect and human and to show the ‘natural’ experiences that could not exist without the human hand, but can be appreciated nonetheless and expanded to include all life, for the manipulation of nature is not limited to human influence.

In other words, conjoining nature and human by presenting new relationships between the born and the made.

Community was illustrated as orbit of people that were formed because of the gravity of the network to share the same goal. Connection was illustrated like a tree’s photosynthesis process which required energy sources from outside to synthesize food. The energy sources were pictured as people helping each other with the skill each person got, to accomplish certain goals. Creativity was illustrated like a light bulb that radiated various colors to picture the ability of solving problem in many ways. The ways here are metaphored with the colors.

LOVE YOURSELF Phase : BTS Art Exhibition Scoop of work : Illustration, Graphic Design Tools of trade : Watercolor, Adobe Illustrator A poster campaign for BTS Art Exhibition 2019 which was held at Plaza Indonesia’s Function Hall. The illustration idea comes from BTS Love Yourself Album squiggles which formed a flower. To communicate the message ‘love yourself’, I illustrated flowers that bloomed within each person.

BTS ALL THE WAY UP Phase : BTS All The Way Up Project Scoop of work : Illustration, Graphic Design Tools of trade : Watercolor, Adobe Illustrator A poster campaign for BTS Art Exhibition 2018 which will be held in Rumah Miring by CG Artspace. The illustration itself symbolized pre-debut phase, debut phase and achievements of korean group, BTS. These phases are illustrated from the bottom to the top where the smaller flowers gradually form and support the bigger flower, in a way to deliver the message “all the way up” which is the concept of this event.

TITIK JENUH 2017 Phase : Design Coordinator Scoop of work : Graphic Design Tools of trade : Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator As the theme of the event was “Creating A Proper Portfolio”, I tried to do a visual concept that connected with the way of creating a proper portfolio. In this project, I used the keyword “explore”. Explore means to go beyond what’s existed, to brainstorm, to open to many ideas before focusing on the problem at hand. I used the idea of planets. Planets have so many layers that you need to open before you get into the core of the planet. I tried to emphasize on the layers of planet with geometric lines and the core with bright yellow color that gave a sense that light came from within the planet. As one explored more, one would find brighter, wider range of solution for the problems.
