BIL 101 WORKSHOP 4.4 SYNTHESIS PAPER
Download Activity 4: Individual Assignment: Synthesis Paper Your synthesis paper will be between three and four pages long. Please follow APA style guidelines, and be sure to cite your sources. Copy the questions into the body of your paper and answer the questions in well-written paragraphs. Don’t simply make lists or answer in sentence fragments. Show that you have “synthesized” the information: you’ve thought about the material, and developed your understanding. Some of the questions will require that you apply the principles learned to life in the 21st century.
Submit a copy to your instructor using the Dropbox by 11:59 PM of the last day of the workshop. Please include the question/assignment in your discussions and papers for this course.
1. Describe the major sins of Israel and Judah revealed in 1 and 2 Kings and addressed by the prophets. Cite references to back up your answer; use the material in Lennox, Chapter 13. 2. Create a short reference letter for the prophet Elisha, based on the description of his ministry in 2 Kings 2-13. What was his training? What was the time period in which he worked? What were his major accomplishments? Include your assessment of what Elisha’s ministry revealed about the nature and character of God. There are extensive notes on Elisha in the Life Application Study Bible, in 2 Kings. See also Chapter 13 of the Lennox text. 3. Isaiah 52:13-15 and Isaiah 53 have been interpreted by Christians to refer to Jesus. Use the cross-reference feature in your Bible (the small italicized letters inserted behind words or phrases) to list the New Testament references to these passages. How many did you find? Describe what you learned about Jesus. 4. Discuss 3 characteristics of God that are portrayed by the life and sermons of Jeremiah. Cite several Bible passages to back up your answer. See Lennox Chapter 19 and Jeremiah 29-33.
