Overview
The vision for My Monet was hatched in March 2009 by Raziel Ungar, a Burlingame resident and Realtor in the Burlingame community. Realizing that children’s art had never before been featured at Burlingame’s annual flagship community event, Art in the Park, Raziel teamed up with two Burlingame art teachers in spring 2009 to showcase the exceptional artistic talent within our schools. The exhibition featured selected works from over fifty children in Burlingame elementary schools. My Monet’s aim is to promote art and creativity within the Burlingame community for our children, and to draw attention to the need for supporting the arts within the Burlingame public school system through the Burlingame Community for Education Foundation and the local PTAs. Each art piece was created during the 2008/2009 school year under the direction of the students’ art teacher. Students used a wide variety of media for their art pieces.

On the following pages, please enjoy the handwritten notes written in the guest book at the My Monet booth throughout the weekend by the students themselves, parents, residents, and community members. I hope you will join me in supporting the continuation of Art in the Park for all the special reasons you are about to read. Additionally, the Burlingame Elementary School District is prepared to help promote and support this important program for Art in the Park in 2010.
