“in such a time as this”

Letter from Our President Dear Friends,

Welcome to our Virtual Living the Dream Gala. We, the Sisters of St. Joseph, are most grateful for the generous outpouring of support for this event. Your sponsorships and donations help the ongoing work of our ministries and contribute to the support of our retired sisters. Over the decades since the first Sisters arrived in Boston 148 years ago, our ministries have varied as the times presented new needs. We have continually reached out to the “dear neighbor without distinction” bringing the message of God’s love to each one.

Tonight we are proud to be honoring two distinguished women whose lives and values reflect those of the Sisters of St. Joseph. It is a great joy for us to recognize the Honorable Regina Quinlan Doherty, retired Judge of the Massachusetts Superior Court and Mary Ann Jordan, Senior Vice President of Eastern Bank with the Dear Neighbor Award. Each one, through her own life’s work, has been a source of blessing to many dear neighbors. Thank you for joining us this evening. Enjoy the program. In the name of all Sisters of St. Joseph I thank you for your generous support. You are greatly valued silent partners in our lives and our ministries. I wish you an abundance of blessings as we continue our Lenten journey toward Easter. With deep gratitude, Lee Hogan, CSJ President, Sisters of St Joseph of Boston

Meet Our Living the Dream Dinner Honorees Tonight we are proud to honor two remarkable women with our Dear Neighbor Award. This award is given to those whose lives exemplify the values and charism of the Sister of St. Joseph. Mary Ann Jordan Mary Ann was educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph from grades one through twelve. The sisters had a lasting effect on Mary Ann, molding whom she became and the ways she chose to live her life. Mary Ann flourished in the world of banking. She began her career at Liberty Mutual Insurance. After stops at First National Bank of Boston and Bank of America, she joined Eastern Bank in 2004 where she helped build the Financial Institutions Team. The proud Co-Chair of Eastern’s, Women’s Interest Network (WIN), Mary Ann works for the advancement of women with employees of Eastern Bank and with nonprofits throughout Eastern’s catchment area. She is a member of the Women’s Mental Health Leadership Council at McLean Hospital, a member of the Massachusetts Bankers Association, Women in Banking Advisory Group, and held positions with the Foundation Board of Salem State University and the Northeast Chapter of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association. Additionally, Mary Ann is a longtime participant of St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston.

Living the Dream Dinner Honorees Hon. Regina Quinlan Doherty Regina was educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. After a year in college, in 1961, she followed the path of the Sisters of St. Joseph as a CSJ and a teacher. Here she was immersed in the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph and formed enduring bonds with others from the Community. In 1969, she left. However, the Community and its values and priorities never left her. After studying nights at Suffolk Law School, Regina earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1973 and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in December of that year. For almost twenty years she was a trial lawyer in private practice and became widely known because of her representation of adult bookstores in Boston’s Combat Zone.

Beginning in 1992, Regina was appointed as an Associate Justice of the Superior Court where she served for twenty years. Regina has served on the boards of Rosie’s Place, Aquinas College, and Regis College and also is a longtime participant at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston.
