A story of love
In the time when the Roman Empire ruled over Europe, there lived a priest called Valentine. He married many couples when he was a priest. In those times, a very selfish emperor called Claudius ruled.
Claudius wanted a strong army, so he decided to put a law that said that any men could marry a girl. Valentine felt sad about this new rule so he decided that he would marry girls in secret. After a while, the emperor found out what he was doing and sent him to prison… While he was in prison, Valentine wrote letters to his friends telling them to pray for him.

Claudius was angry when he found out, so he sent Valentine to his death making him a martyr.
