Nathaniel Demosthene is an adjunct in Business and Economics and a pastor of First Timothy Christian Church in Spring Valley. He is proud to be a product of the East Ramapo Central School system. Pastor Nate, as he is often called, was born in Nyack, NY. After moving with his family to Chicago, he returned to the Rockland County area to graduate from Spring Valley High School and go on to attend Rockland Community College. While attending RCC, he was in the M/TS Honors program and was mentored by the late Professor Sam Draper. Pastor Nate transferred from RCC to Yale University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in economics, as well as a joint master’s degree in Philosophy and Business Ethics from Yale Divinity School, with courses at the School of Management and Law. After working briefly on Wall Street as a Manhattan corporation counsel and as a staff writer for The Journal News, Nathaniel began a career as an educator and pastor in Rockland County. He has taught for nearly 15 years in the East Ramapo Central School District and for seven years at RCC, where he teaches both macroeconomics and microeconomics. Recently, Pastor Nate was asked to lead the invocation at the New York State Senate in Albany as part of the Haitian Unity Day Celebration. He became the first clergy member of Haitian descent to lead the invocation at the institution. Pastor Nate has been lead pastor for nearly five years at First Timothy Christian Church, a Haitian congregation that has been incorporated in Rockland since 1983. Under his leadership, the church has been a source of support for the large Haitian-American community in Rockland, growing from 150 members to 450 members. The church was especially supportive after the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010.

James Franco He has dozens of credits to his name, including actor, filmmaker, soap star, Oscar host, Sundance star, and Oscar nominee. Did you know that Franco was also a part-time professor? As a PhD candidate at Yale University, he’s taught screenwriting courses at USC, UCLA, NYU, and Columbia College Hollywood.

Oprah Winfrey Anyone who follows Oprah knows that she taught as an adjunct at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Who wouldn’t want to learn about business from Oprah?

Jimmy Carter The 48th President of the United States, and likely the most accomplished former President, Carter can be seen at Emory University lecturing in the political science department and school of journalism, and at the Carter Center.
