YOUR HEALTH MATTERS
A LIFE-SAVING STAY, THANKS TO YOU
An entire community of care—including donors like you—rallied around Jim when he needed life-saving care.
Your generosity saves lives. It’s as simple as that.
When Jim Hagerty found himself struggling to breathe, he was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital. It was support from caring people like you that ensured Jim could spend six critical nights in our advanced Cardiac ICU, where he received life-saving care, including time on a ventilator.
Jim’s wife witnessed firsthand the profound impact of your contributions. “We both can’t say enough about the kind, caring, professional ICU staff. Even those who were not directly responsible for Jim’s care would do whatever they could to help out”—and that includes you!
Rodrigo set out to honour a student’s life. Now, he’ll impact many more.
RIPPLES AND WAVES OF
IMPACT
How someone just like you is building our community of care.
When you want to make even just a small difference in the world, do you know the ripples of impact that can come from it?
Your generosity is saving lives like Jim’s— every day!
Now, inspired by the care and kindness they experienced, the Hagertys are donors as a way to give back.
“We will continue to support RCH as we know that there is an ongoing need,” says Linda. “One never knows what the future holds, but certainly there are many more people such as ourselves that will appreciate that RCH is there for them.”
Just like the Hagertys, you understand that every single contribution to RCH is saving lives today and investing in the community for tomorrow. Thank you!
Rodrigo Silva certainly didn’t expect ripples—or even waves—when he set out to honour the loss of a young student to cancer.
Rodrigo owns Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu schools in Western Canada and organized a 24-hour Jiu-Jitsu training event to raise funds for cancer research at Royal Columbian Hospital.
His journey began with a modest goal, but the community’s response was overwhelming. “We started with less than $2,500,” he recalls, “and finished with $10,000 after 24 hours. I really believe this $10,000 can help many people out there.”
Because whether through leading community fundraisers like this one, giving monthly donations, or participating in events, it always comes back to helping as many people as possible.
Like Rodrigo, you know that supporting Royal Columbian Hospital is about more than just donations—it’s about building a community where care and compassion continue making ripples and waves of impact.
“I really believe this can help many people out there.”
EVERY CHAPTER OF CARE WITH YOU BY OUR SIDE
How donors like you and Linda are transforming our mental health care.
Whether it’s a brief visit or a long-term need, Royal Columbian Hospital is always there for you.
For Linda McGregor, that’s been true many times. From her daughter’s birth at RCH in 1974 to surgeries and emergency care over the years, Linda has always felt supported by the hospital staff—and by generous donors like you.
One of the most significant changes she’s seen is in mental health care. Having faced clinical depression herself, Linda has experienced the evolution of these services firsthand. Today, the new Mental Health and Substance Use Wellness Centre reflects this progress. The 75-bed centre more than doubles inpatient capacity and expands outpatient services, with specialized clinics for mood disorders, adolescent psychiatry, and substance use. “I’m glad they built a new wing to help people feel more comfortable and relaxed in a situation like that,” she says.
Now, in gratitude for the care she’s received, Linda gives back as a monthly donor. “I don’t have a lot of money,” she says, “but I believe my little bit helps in some small way towards developing more services that are desperately needed.”
“I believe my little bit helps in some small way.”
Thanks to supporters like Linda and you, those mental health care services are growing every day. Together, you’re creating a place of hope and healing for all who need it.
Redevelopment Phase Two Well Underway
Your caring support is written all over our hospital’s expansion.
Every milestone we celebrate in the Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment is all because of your generosity.
Because of caring partners like you, we’ve already built a new 75-bed mental health and substance use wellness centre—caring for patients at every step of their healing journeys. Along with additional parking, and a new heliport, these state-of-the-art upgrades will keep Royal Columbian on the cutting edge of Canadian healthcare.
We are currently in a new phase of redevelopment and the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower is well on its way to completion. With you by our side, we’ll make it to the finish line together and be able to serve our province better than ever before.
For each step you take with us—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
