Hello and welcome! I am Denetra Smith and I am a portrait photographer based near Nashville, TN. I specialize in creating one of a kind portrait experiences for my clients. I do this by working directly with my clients to customize portrait sessions that showcase their unique personalities, their confidence, and by building lasting memories that will forever grace the walls of their homes and the albums on their coffee tables. My approach when photographing people is to combine documentary, fashion, and fine art portraiture to produce images that are beautiful, classic, fun, and innovative. I believe in capturing real, authentic moments as they unfold rather than forced overly posed photos for my clients. I love telling stories through the art of portraiture. I strongly believe that everyone deserves to have amazing portraits and it is my mission to create them for you! I can't wait to work with you!!!

The Corporate Headshots of today have evolved into a more stylized imagery that reflect your personality, personal style, and brand. Personal Branding sessions create images that will further set you apart from your competition. These type of images are perfect for , Realtors, CEO's, Doctors, Lawyers, Bloggers, Authors, Musicians, and creatives alike.
How do you want to be photographed? To create a custom Branding session for you the number one question we have to answer is how do you want to be photographed?. Have you thought about your brand and the imagery you want to represent it. Is it bold, colorful, classic, timeless, or is your brand more modern, minimalistic, Active, direct, calm, elegant, and innovative.

They should communicate the type of experience your clients can expect when working with you.

Styling Your Session
What type of Hairstyling, makeup, wardrobe, and location is best for your brand? Selecting how your hair should be styled, the type of make up you should
wear, and the wardrobe you want to wear is just as important as selecting the background/location you want to be photographed in front of. We strongly suggest all of our clients have professional hair and make up done prior to your session. We work with several local hair stylist/makeup artists and wardrobe stylist and can make referrals or include this in your session for an additional fee.

Profile Portraits Do you need your headshots sized for social media profiles or your website? Once you have selected your favorite images from your branding session, I can resize/crop them to fit perfectly on your Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, etc... Square crops are usually best for any type of social media profile picture, but extended backgrounds are typically necessary for your Facebook and website banners. Extending the background also gives you room to add a logo or some text next to your image.
These are items that can be added to your headshot session and customized to fit your needs.

FROM BOOKING TO REVEAL
What is the first step?
The Session
The first step Is booking your session. My calendar is usually booked 4-6 weeks in advance. The time for your session will depend on the session location. You may want to consider weather or if you want sunrise/sunset photos, photos on the beach, the lake, etc... My session fee is $450 dollars and once that has been paid and a contract signed, you are officially booked and on my schedule. This can be completed online through my website.
This is the best part! We meet up and have the best portrait session. We will spend anywhere from 30 min.-3 hours together depending on which package you purchased, location, and outfit changes. The time will fly by. Before you leave your session we will preview your images and select your favorite images as well as any printed products you would like to purchase. I call this The Reveal/Ordering Session! (see FAQ for more details)
Once your session is scheduled, you will be contacted to set up a consultation. During the consultation, we discuss your vision for your session, (location, wardrobe, inspiration, etc...) I create a mood board on Pinterest based on our ideas. Most clients select to have their sessions take place in my in-home studio (with CDC guideline COVID precautions. See COVID waiver & Precautions) You may however select any location for your portrait session. (see FAQ for more details)
Once you select your best images , I will do some basic edits (correcting lighting, color, crop out background distractions, etc...).An invoice will then be sent to you. Once it is paid in full, final edits will be made and any products will be ordered. You will receive an online link usually 2-3 days after your invoice is paid to download your images. (See FAQ for more details)

What COVID safety precautions are you taking?

Masks will be worn by photographer and team at all times. Masks will be worn by clients while not being actively photographed. Equipment will be sanitized before each session. Hand sanitizer will be provided at all times. Temperatures will be checked and wellness questions will be asked prior to scheduling and on the day of the session. No groups larger than 9 will be photographed in the same session. Social distance will be maintained when possible. If shelter in place orders activated after session has been scheduled, you can reschedule at no additional fee.
What happens if it rains on our outdoor session? If it rains and we are scheduled for an out door session, you have the option to reschedule for another date/time or we can move your session to my in-home studio location. Otherwise we can grab our rainboots and umbrella and capture some authentic rain puddle splashes (as long as their are no tornado warnings or lightning in our immediate area)!
How and When will we recieve our images? After your session we will review your images during what I call the "reveal/ordering" session. You will see your unedited images we we will select your best images from your session. You will then be able purchase your images and any printed products. An invoice will be sent to you for your purchase and once paid in full, your products will be ordered and a link to download your digital image files will be sent. All purchased printed images come with a complimentary digital image on a thumb drive or via digital download through a Shoot Proof Gallery link.

Under no circumstances do I ever give a client the RAW (unedited negative) files. I also ask that no files be altered from my editing style (i.e. instagram/snapchat/VSCO filters etc...) When a client hires me I collaborate with the client to make sure that we are a good fit; any alterations to my editing do not reflect our collaborative efforts. I have also made it my personal mission to give my clients tangible printed products as a result of our collaboration. I do understand for my personal branding/blogger/headshot clients printed images are not always necessary and I do offer digital image only packages for those clients..
Do we have to use your studio for prints? Having professional portraits made of you/your brand is an investment and can be seen as a luxury, but I believe everyone deserves amazing portraits that reflect their brand story. As a photographer my mission is to create portraiture that will be printed in an album, framed, or hung on a wall as art in your home as well as to help my business clients grow their business and connect with their ideal clients. I have taken the time to research photo labs and believe I have found some that offer excellent products for my clients. These prints will be able to be passed down from generation to generation as an heirloom. This is why to complete the process of preserving your legacy every purchased image is delivered as a print and digital file.
Will our images be shared online or on Social Media? Yes, unless specifically requested and agreed to prior to your portrait session, our signed contract gives me the right to share your images online via my blog or on one of my social media platforms in order to continue to market/grow my business and attract more wonderful clients who look like you!

Can I have only my digital files and/or the RAW files?
Headshot/Personal Branding Packages My Headshot portrait session fee is $450 and includes the pre-session consultation, the portrait session, Hair/makeup, and reveal/ordering session. My digital/printed images start at $250 each and go up from there. Additional outfits, and locations can be added to any session for an additional fee. What you buy is entirely up to you. If you don't like your portraits you don't have to buy them.
