PROGRAM AT A GLANCE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The Biology Transfer Pathway offers a student abundant potential for employment. Upon graduating from RCTC with an AS in Biology, students can transfer to many different four-year colleges and universities and complete an additional two years of coursework to earn a four-year degree. Some possible career areas are: Biological Technician, Geneticist, Zoologist, Dietitian, Microbiologist, Science Illustrator, Biochemist, Biological Science Teacher, or Veterinarian.
BIOLOGY TRANSFER PATHWAY MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED
There has never been a more exciting time to learn about biology. Technological advances in areas such as gene cloning, stem cell therapy, and living robotics are exciting and will lead to treatments and cures for human diseases. We now know more about the human microbiome or the bacteria living on and within us that are so important to human health. This translates into career opportunities in health care and research. New methods for addressing environmental clean up have arisen through various bioremediation applications.
Careers that help us understand how human activity and interaction with the ecosystem is affecting the environment and animal populations will continue to flourish. Come to RCTC and explore the many possibilities.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Biology Transfer Pathway offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that transfer directly to designated biology bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities.
Students can continue their education by enrolling in graduate programs or pre-professional programs such as physicians assistant, medical school, and more. These are just some of the possible career options.
BIOLOGY TRANSFER PATHWAY
60 CREDIT ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE
This program offers students the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree that will transfer directly to designated biology bachelor’s degree programs at the following Minnesota State universities: •
Bemidji State University

Metropolitan State University
The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status.

Work closely with an academic advisor or counselor to avoid potential scheduling conflicts, especially between the various science courses that have labs associated with them.
