Computer Aided Drafting Technology Dream It - Mechanical Drafting | Design It - 3D Software | Make It - Prototyping RCTC’s Computer Aided Drafting Technology (CAD) major is designed to prepare students for a technical career using Computer Aided Drafting tools and techniques. CAD drafters turn concepts, ideas, and rough sketches into mechanical prints then “prototypes” or finished parts can be fabricated, designed or repaired. The core content of the CAD program is “hands on” drafting and design using CAD in a state of the art facility featuring the latest release of SolidWorks. Median Stage Wage: Median stage wage for a CAD Drafter is $24.95 / hour. Common Knowledge and Interests: If you are mechanically inclined and like taking things apart or figuring out how things work, this is the career for you. Drafters work with customers and coworkers in an office environment using a CAD workstation. Accuracy, creativity, and attention to details are a must. The Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA) Grant is available for a limited time to qualifying women interested in pursuing careers in welding, precision manufacturing technology (PMT), computer aided drafting (CAD), and other qualifying fields.
