CATHOLIC CERTIFICATE OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES TARGET AUDIENCE: All teachers and catechists - especially those aspiring to senior leadership CONTENT: The course consists of six core modules and two professional modules. The core modules explore the Scriptures (Old and New Testament), the Person of Jesus Christ, the Church and its sacramental life and moral understanding. They are designed to build together into a basic understanding of Catholic theology. Its application within a school, parish or ministry setting is explored further through the two professional modules. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH MODULE: • 10 hours contact time (5 two-hour twilight sessions) • An assessed group presentation in the final session of each core module along with course notes and reflections • All eight modules are generally completed within 18 months but can be spread over a maximum of five years COST: The cost of the course is £400. This covers all eight modules and registration fee with the Board of Religious Studies. The next course will begin in September 2018 and run as twilight sessions from 16:00 —18:00. FOUNDATION STONES- EXPLORING THE BASICS OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH
TARGET AUDIENCE: LOCATION: All staff (non-Catholic or Vaughan House Catholic) interested in learning about the Catholic faith

The AIM of this course is to give participants a basic introduction to the core beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith CONTENT 11 sessions structured around the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 1. The faith Catholics profess (the Creed – a statement of what we believe); 2. The faith Catholics celebrate (the Sacraments); 3. The faith Catholics live (the moral life); 4. The faith Catholics pray (prayers and spiritual life) At the end of the 11 sessions there will be an opportunity for participants to use what they have learnt to complete a formal reflection and an assessed presentation. If successful, this work can count towards one of the eight CCRS (Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies) modules Sessions will run on Tuesday evenings at intervals- see booking site for full list of dates
