Aldoar - Colective Dwelling Project prepared under the course Project 3 , supervised by Prof. Arch. Marta Rocha. The proposal is the restructuring of the area that now includes the “garden and the cemetery of Aldoar, in the urban area of Oporto. The surroundings have a strong residential character, varying in scale and socio -economic level, but a lack of services. The deployment plan tries to complete the stain built, in the transition to the garden, using a fluid and organic design and placing
service areas in strategic points. The delimitation of areas with public, semi-private and private uses aid the characterization and organization of the new place. Residential buildings were conjugated with different types of access as direct, gallery and multiple vertical (right and left). The latter was developed in more detail with the integral design of residence unit. In this study there was a special attention to the relationships between the route and domestic experiences .

Knowledge Center - UP Project prepared under the Course Project 5, supervised by Prof. Arch. João Pedro Serôdio . The solution proposed is based on a unique piece that carries in it shape the curves of the terrain. This unique piece is “anchored” in the both extremes of place where it reveals as a building. The main entrance is done by a huge down ramp which flows into the foyer with a large panoramic of Arrábida Bridge and south bank of the Douro. The foyer is organized in a large space connecting with the remainder program at both ends of the
building. The administration, the archive and reading room are located in the east side over the cafeteria, art room and service area. The West part of the foyer serves the auditorium and studios. The studios are located on top of the auditorium and have a separate entrance directly related to FAUP. It is intentionally to become the exterior as a permeable space that links the high and low levels and serves not only visitors but all adjacent community to the building. Maintaining the natural topography provides to evidence the rigid and monolithic form of the building.

AEFAUP TEmporary bar - 2013 The proposal for the exterior bar of AEFAUP for the 2013 Oporto student festival explores the soap as raw material for the whole building . The materiality and tectonic expression of the SOAP were strong factors for the choice of this material as the base for all architectural creation. Basically, the
soap acts as a brick, but with undeniable aesthetic qualities: it combines the best of handmade universe - each bar of soap has a unique texture chromatic tones, which gives the whole a peculiar tectonic and iconographic singularity, is a sturdy material does not melt, and with a progressive drying, it becomes increasingly resistant.
The soap bars are drilled vertically by iron rods that have approximately 1.50 meters long. This material was chosen because it is durable and economical. In turn, the rods will be attached to the metal frame of the tent using wire.
U-boat artyard, Gdansk artistic centre This intervention takes the three upper levels of the building Uboat. The ground floor will remain with the same function that has now as a nightclub space. The program contemplates the existence of individual and collective spaces of work composed of cells, a space for workshops and artistic
performances and a central space, triple ceiling height, that receive exhibitions. In the remaining two floors are reserved space for corporate offices and ateliers/studios. This organization may, therefore the flexibility of the intervention, be modified depending on the ARTyard uses and needs.
A prison without limits - Pacific Ocean The proposal intends to explore the contrast of the idea of freedom within a prison. The goal is to increase the autonomy of each individual in a space which is meant to be limited physically and controlled psychologically. The huge platform, combined with the solid tower, is a way of controlling the immensity of ocean and simultaneously providing the prisoners with vast views of surroundings. Internally, there is a clear sense of hierarchy created by the organisation of the program: the upper levels for administration, staff, middle for controlled areas, and lower levels are used almost exclusively by the prisoners. “Surveiller et Punir: Naissance de la prison, written by M. Foucault, as a reference for this project. Inside each cell, there is a precise sense of control made by some security galleries that overlook the cells, providing the inmates with almost no privacy. Despite this, the cells have large windows to emphasize the relationship between the interior and exterior space.
Between walls - Camelot centre The main aim of the proposal is to create a path which unites the two closest villages – South Cadbury and Sutton Montis – dividing the original site into two parts but without destroying the hill. We divide to unify. The project is based on the design of a path that excavates the hill: the buildings are only visible to people as they walk along the route or from a distance when approaching the hill. As the program includes two different cores – the research and the visitors’ centre – we thought it would be appropriate to design two separate buildings. Though these spaces evolve independently, they are united by the path which generates an uninterrupted route. There is a single access to the research centre due to the
more private nature of the program, but the visitors’ centre is provided with several entrances to produce movement and fluidity of people. The path is meant to work simultaneously as a distribution space that allows people to access the two centres and as a common space, waiting area. Although there is no intention to recreate the original castle, we thought it would be interesting to give the path a medieval appearance through the choice of materials without diminishing its contemporaneity. The path walls are inclined at different angles that originate diverse ways in which the natural light enters the path giving it various ambiances.
