How To Communicate How Communication Affects You & Your World / Learning Proper Skills of Communication

It’s Healing Powers

Executive Chairman’s Desk Welcome to ITT, the Innovative, Insightful, and Informative Urban Christian Magazine. This month we take a look at Communication. Communication, is the most essential skill and tool needed for relationships. But it’s how we communicate that allows one to be successful in creating and building present and future relationships. In the year 2013, communication has almost become like driving down a one way street. People want to do and say what they want when it comes to communication but, when someone decides to express a different opinion or thought, a verbal disconnection happens. This happens simply because he or she doesn’t agree with some part of the communication, either giving or receiving information. Too many times people we connect with want us to celebrate the way they chose to communicate yet, when it comes time for them to listen to our thoughts and opinions they want to shut a deaf ear to us simply because, we do not agree with the majority. Communication is not about how poplar you are when you communicate, but it is whether you have an understanding of what you are communicating about and to be truthful. Many individuals do not have current facts about what they are communicating about, the majority of the time they are self centered opinions that are expressed to impress the crowd or others they think are important, rather than take the time to really evaluate what they are about to say. So, it is important for us to understand that communication requires clear understanding of what we do and say, so that we can prevent self centered and unaccountable communication in the process of decision making. Think for before You Speak!!!

TODAY’S CHURCH DON’T JUDGE ME/ YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK FOR YOU NO EXCUSES ALLOWED The Cliché Don’t Judge Me, has become the punchline and excuse for poor behaviors. These use of this cliché leads to a repetitive form of justifying actions. This form of behavior is not new; this happened with Able and Cain in the Bible, when Cain asked “Am I my brother’s keeper,” the Christian’s believer today has fallen to the excuse mode. “I’m human” is an excuse for poor behavior and decision making which can eventually lead to sin. The statement Don’t Judge Me, is an automatic confession to guilt, simply because you are on the defense from the moment you make the statement, which means you knew this was not the proper action or decision to make, yet you did it anyway. You were hoping not to hear the response of others about your decision, all the while you are the first one to have your opinion. When family or friends make a decision that you feel is foolish and unwise, you feel justified in voicing your opinion; which many times makes us a hypocrite. We want mercy, time and space when we make a poor choice or decision, in order to process exactly what happened. But, when it is time for us to allow someone else the time and ability to change we create a whole new rule. Where is the fairness in that? In today’s world, justification for voluntary wrong actions or decisions lets us know that we are sometimes not willing to be accountable, for actions and the results of the choices we make. By making exceptions to the rule, relationships have become fragile and futile because each individual refuses to take responsibility for their conduct and actions which leads to a chaotic situation, which in turn creates confusion and leads to the situation or decision being blown out of proportion.

If someone would step up and take account for the situation and environment created by the poor behaviors, we have better relationships, communities, and societies, as a whole. Trying to justify your actions with excuses, only compounds the problem and instead of stepping up making a decision to improve your actions, the excuses, actually delay your progress of growth and development. Drop the cliché “Don’t Judge Me” change your attitude, and create an atmosphere, for better decision making and realize that if you communicate effectively with those in your life and share the challenges you are facing with them, you will find that resolutions can come easier than you trying to do it all on your own because, the Bible states “We are helpers one to another” without help, life sometimes can be a formidable task that can sometimes over whelm us even when think we have everything, under control. So, drop the cliché “Don’t Judge Me” because your actions speak for themselves, and you have no excuses for your actions or decisions.

SKIN INFECTIONS: Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections. FATIGUE: Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week. CANCER: Research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day. BAD BREATH: People in South America first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays free

CROSS ROADS Why We Create Negative Communication Communication creates connection and from connection relationships are created and future relationships. How we communicate with those we create connections with will determine what atmosphere is developed through that connection. We can determine how we communicate whether it be negative or positive. In 2013, whether it’s News, Talk shows, or Reality TV, the nature of people is to create negative communication. We wanted to know why that is. People seem to create negative communication to create attachment and connection by developing unaccountable events or situations so, they can involve others and get them to believe they can fix or change the situation and soon as the individual or group fixes the situation another situation or event is created in order to keep the attachment going. Whether business or personal, individuals find a way to connect to situations or events that bring about Chaos, which leads to dependency, or to the other individual believing they can change the person whom they have become connected to. When the goal of individuals who create these confusing situations or events is to trap you into a revolving door of utter confusion, when ultimately they are not trying to change they just want all your attention focused on them instead what you can do to better your life with or without them.

The Deception of Negative Communication, is that when you change the communication, in one area and see growth then someone or something comes along and tries to pull into another confusing situation. That’s why in 2013, people have become attached to cell phones because constant talking eventually leads to a negative conversation why? Because of the constant talking you run out of things to talk about instead of hanging up the phone and saying goodbye, the conversation persist and then ole negative communication, sticks it’s head up, that the Bible states “There is a Time to be silent” but being quiet or silent is hard to do when cable TV has taken over our lives. You can wake up at 3am in the morning and find something negative going on in the world. The solution is to communicate with optimism and always see the best in any circumstance and try to find resolution rather than holding on to people or situations that bring chaos and unnecessary troubling circumstances into your life, realize that life has enough challenges all by itself that you don’t need people or situations coming into your life bring other unnecessary circumstances, events, or situations into your environment and life that may cause you to be negative.

Disconnect the Line from Negative Communication!!!!!!!!

She walked into the sanctuary exhausted and broken. Her clothes were ripped a bit from the assault of her mother’s boyfriend. Her eyes were swollen from the tears that just wouldn’t stop running from her eyes that her mother had blackened when she found her boyfriend on top of her daughter. She was limping due to falling in a hole as she ran for her life from the enraged grips of her mother. She knew that if she could just make it to the house of God she would be ok. She was always told that there is healing in the house of God, restoration in the House of God, and peace in the house of God. She couldn’t think of anywhere else to go to be safe but the House of God. As she walked in she heard all talking stop, but she paid no attention, she could feel the stares of the people on her but she didn’t care she just needed to know that her life didn’t have to remain like this, and then it happened. A beautiful woman dressed in a colorful and shining dress suit with a great big hat that also glimmered in the lights of the sanctuary walked up to her. “Surely this beautiful woman will have an answer for me, finally someone that will help me. I just can’t take anymore and I know there must be hope here…” the damaged woman thought to herself as this woman glided over to her. “May I help you?” the lady asked with a very precarious look on her face, “we don’t give out charity to non-members here…” she continued as she hurriedly guided the young lady to the door. The battered young woman attempted to resist but had no more energy to fight exasperatedly began to express “I need help I’ve been beaten and thrown out of my house and I don’t know where to go…..I just wanted Hhh…” but before she could finish this woman that seemed so beautiful suddenly appeared unbelievably dreadful and said without even a pause “Then you need a shelter.” Later that young lady, who came to the church for safety, was found dead in the alley behind that church beaten, abused, and naked. While this is an extreme incident, we have people coming to the house of God everyday looking for nothing more than reassurance that God still sees them, peace is still attainable, and the hope still exists for people “like them”. These same souls come to our churches and are eager to find another way but instead find judgment, ridicule, and rejection. The scripture tells us in Leviticus 19:18 as well as in Matthew 19:19 that we are to “…love our neighbors as ourselves”. We find this commandment yet again in Matthew 22:39, Mark

ASK Jo By: Joyce Graham 12:31, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9, and Galatians 5:14. It seems to this writer that loving our neighbor is very important to God. So important, in fact, that we read Jesus saying in John 13:35 that “…all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” We can read the consequences of not loving in 1John 3:14 were it reads “…He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” This is eluded to once again in 1Jhon 4:20 where John tells us that “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar:..”. Yet I hear story after story of how someone has gone to a church just wanting to obtain hope and was met with judgment and ridicule. I am not ignorant to the fact that there are those that will attempt to present themselves as beggars and are actually con men. However in light of the word of God, it is much better to treat everyone that comes asking for help as an angel that we may be entreating unawares…(Hebrews 13:2). We as the Body of Christ have an incredibly important responsibility to the world and we have dropped the ball by being prejudice to the appearance and or culture or past life experience of another person. We have allowed cliques to form and drive out the very ones God wants to heal and set free, through marginalizing those that do not look act sound like “us”. We are called the Body of Christ because our purpose is to be the arms legs ears eyes of God. He has even given us the power to love whom some would deem unlovable. But somehow, when we give ourselves to God, we become like a coach who was a former player and can’t see clearly what needs to be done to win. Our first responsibility is to love God with everything we are. This means our very life’s most important goal is to be a light amongst darkness, the proof that the undying and unwavering love of God is real. And to make that task an actual reality god himself gave His only son to dye on the cross, brought him back to life, gave Him a throne at His own right hand, and, just to ensure that His divine will was actually carried out, dispatched the Holy Ghost to occupy our very being and consume us that we can love anyone regardless of their background, where they have been, or where they go. But yet we have hurting people in the church hurting others and perpetuating a cycle of self-destruction in the Body of Christ. The only solution to this matter is, for those of us that claim

ASK Jo By: Joyce Graham to love the Lord with everything that we are, to remember…

continued

Remember when you were two steps away from being homeless, remember when you were on drugs and selling your body for that next hit, remember when you were sleeping with everyone because you were afraid of being alone all your life, remember when you were lost and had no one to turn to and you just knew that God didn’t want you anymore and all you wanted as hope that He actually did….remember when you were them. Remember that you are right now one disaster away from losing everything and everyone you know. Remember that you are one catastrophe away from not knowing who you are where you are or how you there. Remember that at any given moment you can be the victim of a robbery, assault, or even a murder. We have a job to do as the Body of Christ, and if we cannot stop the cancer of sin in our own home, in our church body then we are in danger of the blood of the innocent being on our hands. Father we thank You for caring for us, providing for us in so many ways. And now Lord, we ask that You allow us to see through your eyes the heart of those you allow to cross our paths… In Jesus name Amen

THE SINGLE AFFECT MARRIAGE VS. NOT TO MARRY Why Christians Men and Women Unrealistic Views of Marriage Hinder Commitment

I Corinthian 7:1-2; 1 - It is good for Man not touch a Woman. 2 - Nevertheless to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife and every woman have her own husband. In 2013, Christian Men and Women that are single, seem to be touching one another without, consideration of committing the sin of fornication. Well, you ask why is this happening? Simply because as individuals we all want benefits or perks but, the reality is benefits or perks require stewardship and accountability and when it comes time for single Christian men and women to take ownership of their choices and decision they end up walking away from each other. Good strong relationships are built on commitment, and stability which comes with time overcoming, challenges, trials, and adversity which builds great relationships. Christian singles want instant success right out the gate when it comes to a relationship not realizing that time, patience, and the right out look makes for a successful relationship. Too many times in the Christian community we create false realities when it comes to marriage by putting Aires when comes to our own marital relationship only for Christian singles to find out that we are not being transparent with them which gives them a reason to be uncertain about committing to marriage.

Christian Single men and women must begin to realize that any relationship requires, commitment, steadfastness, and belief in one another. Often times, we display images of ourselves, that are not transparent and truthful which leads to deception, when a relationship is not based on material gain or things, financial status, but a true relationship is based on commitment, and accountability. So, for the Christian single men and women, I was once were you are but, I have achieved a successful marriage for 18 years because, I have remained transparent and truthful with myself first and to those God has entrusted in my life. Christian singles God has someone for you if they can see The Real You!!!!!

PRAYIN TIMEZ

PRAYER REQUIRES YOU TO MEET THE CHALLENGE Prayer is the most essential and powerful tool Saints or Christians have. Yet, Prayer requires discipline, action, and vision, without these ingredients prayer often becomes a loud vain repetitions noise with no effect. Prayer is like an antibiotic; it wards off things trying, to hinder our progress in serving the Lord and others. But, as Christian believers we spend too much time praying for things that we must participate in changing through our actions. Far too many times we pray hoping for instant change when we are willing participants in the circumstances. By accepting our responsibility, we meet the challenge of our prayers. Without action, prayer is like going to buy a bottle of water; it only takes affect when you drink it; which requires action. Therefore the challenge for believers is to get up and proceed forward after you have prayed, this means progress only happens by going forward prayer is the fuel that keeps the engine running in our spiritual walk with God, without prayer Saints can run out of fuel to deal with the daily pressures, of living a Godly life. That is why the Bible states “Men should always pray and not faint,” prayer is daily fuel that helps us prepare for the challenges that are coming.

In 2013, Prayer has become like Entertainment Tonight: prayer line, call in numbers, prayer cloths, etc. Sure we need people praying but, not in the since of phone lines, someone says why not? Because prayer is an automatic connection with God through the Holy Ghost because Jesus told the disciples “Ye shall receive Power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you”, now that we have access to the divine power of God we don’t need phone prayer lines because God knows what we need even before we ask Him. Now, Corporate prayer is necessary for the strength and divine protection of the Church, Pastoral leaders and the Saints’ in general everywhere, but the effectiveness of prayer is when we as God’s children step up to the challenge after we have prayer we must obey His word and meet the challenges that we are facing and commanding divine authority over those situations knowing that we already pray and know that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him through meeting the challenge.

PRESS ROOM Christian News, Events and Information

Creative, Informative Talk Show

Preacher of LA has created a controversial uproar in the Body of Christ and has put a Brand X on pastors by showing how their lifestyles have become lavish at the expense of the Church. Several pastors including Bishop TD Jakes has openly denounced the show and it’s display of how pastors live. On one hand we at ITT agree with Bishop Jakes on the other hand this show has some truth to it and we say this simply because, most pastoral leaders of Mega Churches honorariums to come speak at your church range from $3,500 to $15,000. Yet, exposing the most scared office of leadership to the secular world, is careless and thoughtless, if these preachers would’ve considered what they were presenting then maybe they would’ve change how they presented to the public. The church itself has challenges but exposing personal and private matters to millions of viewers makes it look like that all preachers or pastors are after financial status and a lavish lifestyle, that why the bible says “Don’t let your good be evil spoken of” we are not against these pastors we just want them to consider what they are presenting and whom you are presenting it to so, the message isn’t confusing.

Bishop TD Jakes has brought a Fresh and Innovative perspective to Talk show TV, which is much need being that a lot of African-American reality shows conform to celebrity's lifestyle and drama. Bishop Jakes Mind, Body & Soul, provides a realistic look and everyday living and discussing relevant issues with his guests from L.L. Cool J, to a Group of Men discussing Dating and Marriage. This is a very much need format to have dialog about crucial everyday, issues that challenge us as human beings, often time Christians we don’t address common issues we preach about them but, this show helps you gain a clear perspective of exactly how to proceed with solutions and resolutions to the many challenges we face in everyday living. This is “Real Talk”

STYLE WORLD Elements of Fine Clothing & Style

THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SUIT: CANVASSED VS. FUSSED Traditionally, men’s suits were constructed with a layer of horsehair canvas underneath the wool fabric shell. This canvas holds the shape of the suit and keeps it from sagging or deforming, much like the foundation of a house keeps it upright. The canvas is cut to the jacket’s shape, then the wool is stitched to the canvas. Over time, as you wear the jacket, the canvas conforms to your body’s shape, creating an excellent fit. The canvas lining allows the suit fabric to drape naturally, allowing a clean, well put-together look. Fused Jackets Many suit manufacturers, as an effect of increased production, no longer use a canvas interlining in their jackets. Rather, a fusible interlining is glued to the wool shell of the suit. And while this does an adequate job of keeping a jacket’s shape, it often creates an unnatural stiffness in the jacket, making a fused jacket appear lifeless compared to a similar canvassed coat. It’s not just budget brands that construct jackets in this fashion. Many designer labels construct their suit jackets this way to save themselves money. What is sometimes problematic with fused jackets is the fact that the glue degrades over time, or may come unstuck during the dry-cleaning/pressing process. Where the wool detaches from the fused backing, the fabric ripples around the chest and lapels, a phenomenon known as “bubbling.” Unfortunately, there is no way to fix this problem once it’s occurred – as I’ve learned the hard way.

Nowadays, fusing technology has improved to the point where you may never experience bubbling problems, but there’s always the chance that this might occur.

Half-Canvassed Jackets Between the two extremes lies a compromise – the half-canvassed jacket. Half-canvassed jackets have canvas material running only through the chest and lapels of the coat. Past that point, the jacket is fused. Half-canvassed jackets have several benefits. First, they generally have a lower price than a similar fully canvassed jacket. Less handiwork means a lower overall cost to you. And because the top half of the jacket is not fused you’ll not run into any bubbling problems as you might in a fused jacket. This adds to the lifespan of the garment. Finally, the canvassing provides the proper base for the jacket to drape naturally across your chest, rather than appearing stiff and lifeless as many fused jackets do.

FULL CANVASSED LINED CUSTOM LAYOUT

How to Tell a Canvassed v. Fused Jacket Pinch Test The pinch test is an excellent way to determine whether a jacket is canvassed or fused. First, pinch the fabric used on the sleeve of the jacket to get a feel for the wool’s thickness (sleeves are not canvassed). Then, pinch the cloth below the bottom buttonhole from both the inside and out. Gently pull the layers apart. If you feel a third layer inside, then the coat is fully canvassed. If you don’t feel a third layer, or the fabric feels stiffer and thicker than that of the sleeve, the jacket is more than likely fused. Lapel Test Note that fusing has gotten a lot better nowadays and is not always as stiff as it’s been in prior years, making it a little more difficult to determine whether a jacket is indeed canvassed. Accordingly, use your eyes to help figure it out. In a canvassed jacket, most of the stitching attaching the canvas and wool is behind the lapels. If you look carefully on the reverse side of a jacket’s lapel, you can see the tiny stitches holding the layers of fabric together. A fused jacket will have no such stitching. This can be very difficult to see, often virtually invisible under normal lighting.

CHURCH FINANCIAL TOOLS CREATE FINANCIAL EXPANSION In 2013, Churches must make the transition from just traditional giving and adding online financial services and tools to create added financial expansion. Church is a business that receives financial donations and gifts, due to technology it has change the course of Church organizations were we once depended on events, dinners etc., for financial growth now in the 21st century financial expansion and growth come from your church’s ministry online services which gives you access to more consumers and supporters. 20 years ago, department store like K-Mart, Wal-Mart, only had Laway for customers who could not afford to purchase up front, now online payment arrangements are available so, you can get the merchandise now and pay later. Now, churches can expand their financial horizons by providing financial online services, for Tithing, Church Programs, Special, Events by being online your church organization is expanded to larger and broader audience which allows you to receive more financial contributions and gifts than just at your regular scheduled weekly and Sunday services.

Although Church organization would prefer not to deal with online financial services according to research static’s by Forbe’s magazine only 23% of shopping consumers pay with cash so, therefore churches must put in place online giving services to their congregants. Let’s face it 20 years ago who would’ve thought that technology would takeover in the church well it has since it has the ability grow financially as a church organization has become even better why? PASTOR’S LIFESTYLE Bishop Darrel Hines — A Leader With INFUSION Bishop Darrell Hines has established vernacular, as a leader that has allowed him to create and build 3 private schools from pre K through 12th grand and a Bible College as well. The ability to infuse an atmosphere requires dedication, and committed to a total standard which excites people and allows leading them to become easy because infusion builds excitement, and Bishop Hines has that quality.

Infusion - To cause to be permeated with something, (as a principle or quality) that alters usually, for the better. If you had the opportunity to watch the COGIC 106th Holy Convocation online or in person Friday November 8, then you would understand why we selected Bishop Darrell Hines for this month’s Pastor’s Lifestyle. We have not seen the likes of a Pastor/ Preacher who infuses such a dynamic anointing since Evangelist S.E. Mitchell days in Memphis at the Holy Convocation, but we had a moment for a second both these great men of God we both brought back to life after dying. Bishop Darrell Hines ability to infuse his spiritual connection in his preaching is special but, I guess being struck by Lighting, and being dead for 45 minutes would change your life, Bishop Hines thrust and command in his message brings an old school anointing that the church has missed for such a long time.

Bishop Hines infusion is seen in his life, how he lives a Godly life as Husband, Father, Pastor and Bishop, without the standard of being committed to the small things that you don’t see is a mere reflection of the big things you see because, as people we have a tendency to celebrate people because of notoriety instead realizing it is the small things that make the great things.

The Kansas African American Museum invites you to explore our latest exhibit. This exhibit explores the history and the role of the Black Press in American and Kansas with a special section on The Community Voice and its 20-years of service to the Wichita community. Come visit us at 601 N. Water Tues.-Friday - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday - 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm Closed Sunday and Monday

MEN II MEN INSPIRE BROTHER HOOD LEARNING HOW TO RESPECT AND HONOR EACH OTHER BROTHER TO BROTHER

Men learning the art of Brotherhood and what it means to respect one another, requires refined skills for fellowship, among men.

support, a listening ear, learning to accept the personal standard of each other is important to brotherhood. The art of brotherhood is

Brotherhood is create with an atmosphere of trust, consistency, and accountability, often times brotherhood is disconnected because of manipulation, taking advantage of each other for self gain. Brotherhood must begin to be re-establish in our communities where men hold each other accountable for the things we do or say, this will reestablish a standard in our homes and families, too long has the brotherhood, covenant been torn down due self-centeredness, egotism, which has led to men destroying, one another without regard for their actions. Brotherhood is standard of conscious respect for yourself first and then those individuals you connect with and creating strong lasting relationships with. Men must begin recreate the standard so, others will follow with showing mutual respect, honesty, to our fellow brother till this happen will continue to see men as irresponsible, and out for self gain this should not be the goal of men.

Men have bought into the image of divide and conquer, which lead to a self destructive mentality but the solution, is the following for Brotherhood; 1. Never do or say something, to someone that you wouldn’t want said or done to you. 2. Realize the behavior you create will eventually lead to your future and who you are. 3. Always try to find a resolution instead of a problem. 4. Celebrate the success of each other instead of the failures. 5. Set a standard with trust, truthfulness, respect, consistency, and accountability. When we put these steps in place brotherhood, will return and we will once again become the voices of our communities and homes as in times past. We have spent far too much time trying to out do and tear down one another but, let’s put our focus back to encouraging, and celebrating each other abilities, ideas, visions, by doing so, we each become more brilliant, and better men.

YES I SAID IT

E

CAROL B. verywhere in America churches that are

predominantly African American stand as beacons in our black communities, but yet they hardly scream “help is available” for the communities let alone for even their own members. In the 1970’s the black church proved to be a foundation for the black family dealing with issues such as poverty stricken communities, racial discrimination, and strength of the black family. They proved to be available to offer them hope and a sense of encouragement during trials and tribulations. The black church was not only a strong foundation but the preacher in that church was as well. The local church preacher offered hope along with speaking the truth of the power of GOD. Let’s not forget to mention he never went without visits to the elderly, Ill, and shut in. Any person in need was able to count their blessings twice with support of church and preacher. Today in 2013 this does not exist any longer, I have heard countless times by our older generations that speak of the profound difference in what the church was, and what it is now, There was a huge difference and a large lack of care and concern. You can’t help but to see the change! I have seen communities fall down when churches could step up and do slightly more but often times I have seen them look away. When families are falling apart who is there to lift the families or step in and help these families remain strong? Nobody is intervening any longer. What I do see is the black church dying and the preservation of our church failing and falling between the cracks. I must dare ask the question…what has been the marked change within our churches? I can only speak for what I notice and see.

The black church is now a passive social service agency/organization with political ties to those who need it…Meaning the politicians. Politicians will highlight individual churches or pastors who then stress the needed resources, networking, skills, & contacts that the church can supply. I think somewhere in this we lost what the church was really about and although we cry out to GOD we still work towards political righteousness versus a morale of GODLY righteousness. The black church showed up and showed out when it came down to the last two presidential elections. Pulling electoral votes was priority #1 and honestly on every church agenda or weekly readout was the statement to “go vote”. Thinking back I recall our churches picking people up in the community and carpooling to make sure everybody was there at the sites to vote. But I wonder if they did the same the week after elections…I doubt that! So it goes to show that when something was needed from the black church they had foundation and made it happen. So while were securing positions for those higher up, let’s not forget to tell our “Black Churches” in our very own communities to not forget to secure our own position because surely we can’t afford to get to our “Promised Land” but forget the promise! WE HAVE GOT TO DO BETTER!

MEN’S HEALTH

Health benefits of walking Walking can improve sleep, increase energy, and improve the overall quality of your life. Health-care professionals use the term "health-related quality of life" to refer to how your health, sense of satisfaction with life, and overall sense of well-being impacts your daily life. People who are physically active obviously enjoy better health. It is also important to note that physically active individuals report feeling better about themselves and have a more positive outlook on life. Physical fitness and increased health are not the only payoffs of starting and maintaining lifelong fitness walking program. Various types of aerobic exercise, including walking, have also been found to promote mental health -- boosting energy, improving sleep, relieving tension and stress, and combating anxiety and depression. Mastering a walking program can give you the true sense of accomplishment that comes from doing something good for your body. A few years ago, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) convened a panel to examine the effects of exercise on mental health. The panel noted a real, proven link between physical fitness and mental health and well-being. Exercise was deemed generally beneficial for the emotional health of people of all ages and both sexes. Many people suffer from a type of chronic fatigue that isn't caused by illness or disease. They endure the blahs during the day and then toss and turn at night -- only to wake up the next morning feeling groggy and drained. These individuals might be surprised to learn, however, that a great way to increase their daytime energy levels is to expend energy on regular exercise like walking.

Improving Sleep Walking can also boost your daytime energy levels by helping you sleep longer and sounder at night. When the President's Council on Physical Fitness asked seven medical experts to ra-te the sleep-promoting abilities of a whole gamut of physical activities, walking beat out many popular sports, such as handball, squash, basketball, calisthenics, tennis, downhill skiing, softball, golf, and bowling. The only activities that garnered better ratings than walking were jogging, swimming, bicycling, skating, and cross-country skiing. Some people do find, however, that performing intense exercise just before bedtime revs them up so much that they have difficulty falling asleep. So if you intend to walk at a brisk pace, you may need to schedule your walks for at least an hour before you plan to retire for the evening. On the other hand, an easy-paced, late night stroll may be just the thing to relax your body and clear your mind so you can fall asleep. Stress often interferes with sleep, and with everyday life. Next, learn how you can keep stress levels low by walking. To learn more about walking, research these topics:    

WOMEN’S INNER CIRCLE Turning Your Life of Guess-Work to Purposeful Living When you want more out life…more happiness, more peace, and more stability, and even more money - many times the first step toward those goals is to prune the weeds in your life to make room for the flowers. When you make up in you mind that you want to remove negative people, and things from your life, you’ll find the freedom God intended for you and the confidence in yourself, you’ve suspected has always been there. The Lord calls us to strengthen those relationships that do matter, not only with Him, but with others. As you embark on this journey, you’ll attract more likeminded positive people in your life. As the Lord shows you the friends or even family that need to be cut from your life, you need to remember that He has your best in mind. Understand that you are empowered by this process - Love the Lord as He shows you your purpose so you can keep it moving to a more successful life. We all may have some of these women in our lives that need to be weeded it out:

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Psalm 37:2 Faking Fae - She is always there when she needs something, but seems to rarely in the place to assist when you need her for any type of support. Something always comes up. You need to wise up-snip,

snip.

Negative Nancee - is the perpetual pessimist in every situation. This can even be family. No matter what is going on she is always negative. This takes way more energy to stay up beat than you need to dedicate to her. Walk away with your sanity!

Drama Donna - Now you know she just attracts drama! She’s always having someone look at her funny, she’s always the one that someone was rude to, she’s always the one who got the wrong order of whatever, and she’s always the one that people are giving HER a hard time. Think about

it….it is not everyone else. It is HER! Do you need that in your life? Helpless Hallie - Closely related to Faking Fae, she is hardly ever able to help out when you need her but seems to always have her hand out for help paying HER bills. You have managed your finances well, and it is not your responsibility to bail her out all the time. The next time she comes to you to borrow money or for some other help, ask her what her plan is to change her situation so that she doesn’t have to keep depending on your help. It’s simple: If she doesn’t have a plan, don’t give any more help because it’s a never ending hole. If she does have a plan, then offer to be her accountability partner so you can help her stick to her plan. Don’t let any moss grow here. Tami Tolerate - We have nothing in common. Our plans for the future are not headed in the same direction. We met along the way and have remained in contact, but never really saw eye to eye. Why are we friends? The bottom line is this, never allow yourself to get hung up on friendships that are bringing you down or hindering the progress you’re trying to make in your life. Be okay with the fact that as you grow in your success that some people in your life can’t come along. Your blessings are at stake! They have their journey and you have yours. At some point those paths may no longer cross. Always remember that the separation does not have to be bitter, but it should always make you better.

INSYNC Taking The Church Beyond The 4 Walls Technology has moved the Church beyond television, to where churches can move there ministries beyond the four walls. Today's advances in technology are now more affordable and user friendly to most if not all church organizations which allow them to reach a larger audience. By moving to more technology, churches reach a broader audience than radio or TV. Technology is a sound ministry when used properly especially when is comes to the ministry’s media ministry, because it is designed to get the word out faster, that is the reason people use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, for marketing and advertisement tools to improve connection and support. JUST THE 2 OF US Communication: The Power Switch to Charge Your Marriage Marriage can easily become a routine like going to work, and you really don’t enjoy it. Then you wonder how this happened. . . Simple, a lack of Communication. Without communication you have a couple who are just living together. Communication removes a stale atmosphere, and infuses life. Without communication any relationship will dissolve because, there is no connection. Communication builds repore which creates a foundation for trust. Communication is the power switch to martial bliss. When communication stops the relationship loses luster which can cause a couple to lose their way but, couples who communicate and learn to share their honest thoughts with each other they are able to work together as collective unit. Marriage must have communication in order to have balance, Husband, and Wife must share themselves equally and be open to one another which brings harmony and oneness. When couples, stop communication the disconnect brings frustration, anger, disappointment, etc. which leads to that eventually growing apart and sometimes not able to repair the walls enough to keep the relationship together.

Communication creates fellowship, taking down the walls of being uncomfortable and creates openness. When there is no communication, the atmosphere is tense and lacks to be a peaceful environment whether at Work, Home, or Church etc., so, we know that Marriage, must have communication because, it’s a must in order for two people to remain one and continue to grow together over years and time. Often, as married couples we tend to take each other for granted simply because, we live together in the same house, pay bills, see after our children, we assume everything is A Ok instead of taking time to pay your mate a compliment, a Hug, communication is both verbal and non verbal , nonverbal is just as important as the verbal because, expressions of affection is a way of communicating with your mate letting them know that you are still into them. Most couples who have been married longer than 10 years, have a tendency to get in a rut when it comes to communicating, the best advice is turn the Power Switch back on and start communicating you will be surprise just how refreshing it is to have a conversation or connection with the one you love.

Creating Lifetime Memories For Holiday Season As a young Boy I remember going to my Grandparents house for Thanksgiving dinner and watching football, laughing, talking and just enjoying pure, good fellowship and fun. Now, in 2013, Thanksgiving has become a featured, holiday on Facebook, Twitter, and retail sales. Here at ITT, we believe the most important thing during the Holiday Season, is creating lasting memories and fellowship among family and friends. Often the Holiday Season turns into financial bondage because, we spend money to impress one another only to fall further into a financial dilemma that causes stress and begins to erode relationships in families simply because we don’t understand the meaning of the holiday season. The Holiday season has never been about how much money you can spend or whether you pump yourself up for Black Friday get up extra early to save enormous amounts of money according businesses like Wal-Mart, Bestbuy, and Khols their number one goal is to make American consumers of material things that lose value the minute people receive them as gifts. We fall into this behavior and make the Holiday season about materialism and spending money rather than encouraging families to share time in fellowship, building strong bonds of commitment and love. This more important than any gift that we can give to any loved one. Each year we are allowed the opportunity to come together and share our expressions of love and gratitude for being a family and having each other in our lives that is the real meaning of the Holiday season.

HOW TO COMMUNICATE How Communication Affects You and Your World/ Learning Proper Skills of Communication

Communication is the most essential skill needed for human living, it is how we create and build relationships. Yet, learning how to communicate takes training and learning how to convey a message, in the proper manner. Communication can be conveyed in two ways, negative or positive, the manner and tone can take a positive message and completely make it sound negative. Communication requires vital skills in order for it to be affective, without it the communication, line can be disconnected. Communication must have the following;

1. Clarity 2. Truthfulness 3. Responsibility Without these skill communication becomes a struggle because, as human beings we often communicate for self gain, and satisfaction instead of presenting a clear message up front, we communicate a partial message which is misleading and creates a false message, and leads to issues, along with problems, that are created simply because, we don’t communicate a clear message. Communication in the 21 century has become, self centered language, communication has two languages Verbal, and Non-Verbal.

Communication is vital skill for relationship, creation but the added ingredient needed to make the right connection in any relationship is Clarity, be clear with the message and convey it in the proper manner. Truthfulness, being truthful is the most key ingredient why? Truth leaves no hidden details it’s open and up front, no hidden thoughts or actions, Responsibility, is the sealer to communication, why? Every human being will have take a responsibility for how they communicate in life regardless of time whether now or later the key is realizing that. Often times as human beings whether Believer or Non-Believer, we lose sight of the fact how much communication affects and controls our world, sure it’s every human beings right to communicate as they chose but, remember you are sending a message and how you communicate that message has a lasting effect. The way we communicate affects our world often, words like

I Don’t Care, or I wish He or She would die, not realizing words give and take away life that’s why the Word of God ( Bible) states Life and

Death are in the Power of the Tongue.” Communication is the key to our dreams, visions, relationships, how we use that key is vital, we must make sound choices in conversations so, that we Clear, Truthful and Responsible, for what we say and do because, we communicate with our words and actions. Communication is like a thermostat make sure you control the temperature to create quality relationships, in your life.

FAMILY LIVING THE POWER OF FAMILY FELLOWSHIP

Family Time is one of the most important times, for husband, wife and children to re-connect, and catch up with the things going on in each other’s lives. As a family, you each have individual lives, with challenges and events that happen throughout the week so, taking time out to connect with each other over a meal or movie, helps keep the bond of support, care, and concern for each other by letting one another, know you are there in case you need them. Family time builds lasting memories and great times as parents get older, then the children try to continue the legacy of family time and keeping that bond of support for one another. Although family time is no longer the forefront of our communities, those who have family time. According to research; 46% of children in a close, caring family are less likely to suffer from peer pressure, or be in serious trouble. Family time keeps a bond of security and knowing that you have support and someone to build you up. Families who make time to share and communicate with each other feel closeness, understanding, and that they have each other back and encouragement to make the necessary steps in life to be successful and continue growing as person and adult.

Family time is vital to helping children to shape their world as they become teenagers and adults being able to connect and share understanding of life’s challenges strengthens relationships among siblings so that they are trusting and supportive of each other. Without family time the connection is lost among all families members the value of having each other is lost and is hard to regain over time simply because, there is a gap in time spent together, the more time you spent together the sharper and closer the connection is, trust, care and concern is heighten when families spend quality time together whether over the holidays, or birthdays etc., this creates, meaning memories and times of sharing and celebration where everyone can join in and be included in the fellowship fun times. God designed families to build relationships and communities, therefore family time should of the utmost focus in our lives because it is the foundation of who we are and what we shall become in the future without Family time it’s like walking into a house with no lights on . Family Time - Priceless !
