Bearing the numbers of Kansas City Chiefs' players Patrick Maholmes and Travis Kelce, this modern American steakhouse sits within the heart of Kansas City in the existing Loew's hotel and features subtle details inspired by the game of football without being overtly football-themed. This provides for an elevated level of design while also providing some sense of familiarity for football fans, specifically Chief's fans. There are several private dining rooms, both on the second level of this two-story space, offering varying levels of privacy to accommodate parties of all types. This project design will serve as a new prototype, in a way, for future steakhouse projects done by the Noble33 group.

Just recently completed, this project sits right outside of the St. Louis city limits in the suburb of Maryland Heights. The challenge with this project was to convert the top floor of an existing building into a restaurant and bar that was casual, yet elevated in certain ways. Part of the existing curtainwall system was modified to create an open terrace by removing glazing between mullions and replacing it with a new windscreen. A new storefront creates the formal entry into the restaurant from the terrace for those customers coming up from the scenic elevator, which serves only the top floor. The design concept played off of the restaurant name - 360 West - by incorporating circular and curvilinear elements on the larger scale of the plan layout as well as within the details in the millwork and hardware.

Clemson's Martin Inn & Madren Center Renovations Clemson,

SC| The Johnson Studio | 2023-present

The Martin Inn and the Madren Center sit on the edge of Clemson University's campus, offering beautiful views of of Lake Hartwell and Clemson's championship golf course. Hosting many visitors and conferences throughout the year, it was important that the design of this renovation supports and improves upon the services already offered. The Martin Inn design is focusing on making visitors feel at home and comfortable through changes in lighting, finishes, and furniture placement. The Madren Center design aims to provide better acoustics and updated finishes and furniture, along with a new storefront system with Nanawalls in the prefunction area that will open up that space and allow the exterior patio to be utilized more often. Between the Martin Inn and the Madren Center, a new lobby and restaurant are being developed along with Cooper Carry which will offer a space for hotel visitors and conference attendees to go for a meal or drink, while also providing a place just to relax or get some work done.

(This project is currently in the Schematic Design phase)

Responsibilities on this project include development of the Revit model for schematic design presentation, 3D view setup for renderings, coordinating with Cooper Carry on lobby & restaurant exterior.

The

This project was completed in 2024 and has already become a very popular spot for Knoxville visitors and locals. The historic building (built in 1870) sits right in the heart of downtown Knoxville on Gay Street. The design goal with this project was to achieve an elevated gastropub type feel within the space that accentuated the existing historical features such as the large windows and brick walls. The design consists of a ground floor level and an existing mezzanine as well, which provided challenges in regards to ceiling heights. The new ceiling construction had to be as thin as possible and the height of the surface mounted light fixtures were looked at closely as well in order to maintain as much head height as possible on both levels. In order to make accentuate the double height space and create a focal point as customers enter through the front door, the backbar structure design extends to the upper ceiling and serves and a backbar for the small bar on the mezzanine as well.

Responsibilities on this project include design drawing development, coordination with consultants, answering RFIs and reviewing submittals, representing the design team on OAC calls.

225 Peachtree St NE - South Tower

This adaptive reuse project looked at converting an older Portman office building to luxury apartments in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. The client aims to attract young professionals who are interested in city life and all of the benefits that has to offer. The design of the units along with the amenity levels incorporates finishes and elements that respect Portman's original design while still offers a more modern day feel. One of the challenges with this being an existing building was creating unit layouts that worked efficiently at every level. The shape of the building and the way the core and stairs laid out resulted in many different unit types, but consistency was maintained where possible.

Responsibilities included unit layout and design, general coordination among consultants and engineers, presentations to the client, managing younger designers helping with the project, extensive code research, and overseeing the development of the Revit model and construction documents.

Mixed-Use TOD Project Proposal

Portman Architects | 2020

(Per the request of Portman Architects, the name and location of this project will not be disclosed to maintain confidentiality.)

This proposal was for a mixed-use transit-oriented development building that served to activate the street at the ground level through the introduction of retail spaces with office and hotel stacked above while still maintaining the site's original purpose of acting as a hub for public transit. The site currently does not utilize the full potential of its location within the city, which this proposal hopes to remedy by encouraging urban density and providing various opportunities for engaging the public through multiple levels of publicly accessible space. The podium's curvilinear shape further engages those passing by and helps to frame views of the city.

Responsibilities on this proposal included translating the Designer's concept to Revit, modeling additional design elements, some interior space planning, preparing the model for rendering, creating elevations and plan sections, and creating diagrams

Anthem Technology Center Atlanta,

With the new Coda building in Tech Square recently having been completed, Anthem reached out to Portman in hopes that they would be able to have an equally impressive building designed for them within the same area of Midtown in order to serve as a home to their new Technology Center. Portman Holdings was able to acquire the land neighboring the Coda building and the project was soon underway. Completed just recently, the Anthem Technology Center is a 21-story office building with an amenity level on level 8 that includes a cafeteria for the Anthem tenants as well as a spacious roof deck for various types of gatherings and activities that provides great views to Downtown and Midtown. A second sister tower that will provide additional office space is currently under construction and will connect to the ATC on the amenity and lobby levels and will also include a bridge over to level 16 on the existing tower.

The form of the building follows that concept that the tower portion speak to and compliment the surrounding buildings in Atlanta, whereas the base has been "carved" away to create more interesting and engaging pedestrian space. A kinetic facade along West Peachtree further engages those passing by, capturing one's attention through the way the panels move with the wind, creating a ripple effect similar to flowing water.

Responsibilities on this project included picking finishes for the lobby furniture and other lobby features such as the security desk and feature stair, and performing construction administration-related tasks such as responding to RFI's and reviewing submittals, creating additional detail drawings and sketches, writing field reports, issuing bulletins, and doing punch list walks with the Contractor.

Dawson County Senior Center

This project was to provide Dawson County with a new Senior Center to better accommodate the needs of the seniors within the community. It includes a large multipurpose room, game room, offices and support spaces for staff, and a small commercial kitchen for providing daily meals for the seniors and to provide dining needs for special events.

Responsibilities included interpreting initial design sketches into drawing form, guiding collaboration among the design team in order to create a construction-ready drawing set while maintaining orginal design intent, communicating with the Client to insure their needs and budget concerns have been met. Additional responsibilties included all drawings, specifications, and presentation materials.

Programs Used: Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Photoshop

Paulding County Adult Detention & Law Enforcement Center

This project for Paulding County provides officials with a larger jail facility than the county currently has, with extra space for future growth. Law enforcement officers within the county also are being provided with their own facility with offices and administration spaces to help support their daily operations. The location for both of these joint facilities is behind the existing county courthouse, which helps makes processing of inmates for court more efficient. Located in the far right corner of the expanded parking lot is also a separate, new building to accommodate visitation purposes for the inmates and their families.

Responsibilities on this project included preparing programming options for presentation to the Client, converting the final design option to Revit and carrying the project from schematic design documents through to construction documents. Additional responsibilities included coordinating with consultants and attending Client meetings to assure the Client's needs were all met within reason.

Programs Used: Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Photoshop

This project was a ~100,000 SF, two-story office building for Enterprise Holdings International. Responsibilities included picking out interior finish materials and exterior paint colors, modeling different elements in project and documenting the project through the different phases using Revit, creating presentation graphics including renderings and finish boards
