james & julia: natural lounge
This project was done for a young couple who love to travel and bring souvenirs to their home to show to their guest and have a conversation about all their trips and experiences. They love wildlife and nature, for which we wanted to redesign their family room with natural elements and warm and cozy colors to make them feel like they were still traveling around the world. Our goal: bring the outdoors inside with hippi-chic style.
Newcomers in Calgary
sketch up: peer review
This project was done for my good friend Raquel and her husband André, oh! And their cat Chanel. They are newcomers to Canada from Brazil. They just moved into a new condo, however the space had lot of challenges to resolve for the couple needs: floor to ceiling windows with a column in the corner and a small open space to mention just a few. I proposed a geometric bookcase to make it a focal point, and a sectional sofa overlooking the city views to relax and enjoy.
1 room, 2 solutions: bonus room proposal
Here is a good example of a common challenge with new houses in Calgary: what to do with the bonus room over the garage on the second floor. And of course, the budget is limited: $35,000. For this space we decided to divided it into two areas: one to relax,, with a nice spot to read or drink the afternoon tea, and the second space is proposed to have a small family area, to watch TV, or maybe to the kids to do some homework. Over the knee-wall that is dividing the room from the hallway and staircase, we are proposing an open shelves bookcase, that helps to delimit the room from the main circulation area in the house.

1 room, 3 solutions: miranda priestly
This was probably the most fun project of this course! Choose your client form one of your favorites movies. In this case, Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada.
Knowing her profile, this project could be quite challenging and intimidating, but with enough budget, we were able to proposed luxury high-end items to match the fashion life style that Miranda has. This is her home office, because she is always working. We divided the room space from the rest of the house with onyx walls, giving her more privacy.
