Principal’s welcome Thank you for your interest in studying with us at Reading College. We welcome students of all ages and you will find the College a friendly, inclusive and enjoyable place to learn. Studying as an adult can be an exciting challenge and there are many benefits to returning to education. You may want to gain new skills and knowledge as part of your career progression, build strong foundations in English or maths for future success or complete a leisure course for personal interest. The Thames Valley region has weathered the recession and many industries are now seeing economic growth. Reading College is well-placed to help support this growth. As well as being geographically located in the centre of Reading, we provide training to equip individuals with the skills local businesses need. To do this we work closely with employers from across the region to ensure that our course content is relevant. For example, higher education courses have had a successful first year and we look forward to helping more people achieve an industryrecognised degree through excellent teaching and at a lower cost than studying at university.
Through our strong employer network, we put our students forward for work experience and job vacancies knowing that their training has prepared them for the workplace. This includes our extensive provision for jobseekers, where you gain new industry specific skills and find work through our dedicated Reed Jobseekers Service. We are aware that paying for education can be difficult, and believe that the introduction of 24+ Advanced Learning Loans will ensure that fees are not a barrier to new learning and career opportunities. If you would like to know more, come along to an open event at the College, have a look on our website or book an appointment to speak to one of our impartial career advisers. We will be pleased to see you. Best wishes
Lesley Donoghue, Principal

Reading College reserves the right, however, to introduce changes including the addition, withdrawal or restructuring of courses and services. It is important to note that places on courses are subject to availability, and that the courses themselves may be subject to a viable number of students enrolling. The contents of this guide therefore do not form a contractual obligation on Reading College to provide any courses or services described in it.
