Hi, I’m Elmo, and this is Germany! Let me show you my home town.
Let’s start at Neuschwanste in castle. Lots of people love it there. Nobody really knows who built this awesome castle. It was built in 1869!
The Bavarian state library has 9.39 million books. It’s among the best research libraries world wide. This library is in Munich, Germany. The Brandenburg gate is in Germany’s capital city, Berlin. King Freidrich William II as who it was built for. It was built in the 1800’s.
Mercedes Benz is a museum in Stuttgart, Germany. It is quite tall eight stories tall. It was designed and built by Mercedes Benz herself.
Here in Germany Oktoberfest is a big tradition. Oktoberfest includes a grand parade of landlords and breweries. Traditionally costumes parades and a concert featuring the entire brass bands take’s place there.
When a man reaches the age 30 and still doesn’t have a girlfriend. Women throw trash on their stairs. The man then has to sweep the trash off of the stairs, and that lets the women know he is single. Let’s go talk about weather traditions, now!
In spring they have a summer’s day. That is where children wear brightly colored socks. They then march through the town, to celebrate that the snow and winter is gone.
Then in autumn they have Cannstatter Volkstest. That is were there features singing, dancing, there’s food, and drinks. The main attraction is a giant fruit column this is set up at the festival grounds. Let’s talk about their food.
A normal breakfast would be hard rolls, quark, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, or milk, with hard boiled eggs. What they would have for dinner/lunch would be Cod with Mustard sauce, tossed salad with sweet and sour dressing, and clear beef broth. Now, for supper, they would have open-face sandwiches, noodle salad, bologna with rutabagas.
Sausage is the dish that one starts dreaming, when asked to select a German menu. Hot dogs and hamburgers have originated from similar German dishes. Te Germans also love to eat duck, goose, and turkey.
At five o’clock as the afternoon draws to a close, it is time for, “Kaffe Mit Kuchen,” coffee with cakes and tarts. The coffee hour is treated like a complete meal. Traditionally, the Germans eat five meals a day!
The most popular meat is pork also as chicken and beef. Hot and cold cereals are increasingly popular. When Germans go grocery shopping they often prefers fresh foods, for cooking. Now off to language.
Low German is spoken in the north which is much like English. At school kids learn the standard German Hochendetsch (High German). The language is used by business, television, and newspaper.
Ich bin Deutsch, which means “I am German!� Das kind Nahm Seine ganzen Habseliqkeiten aus seiner Hosentasche. This means: The child took all his major possessions out of his pants pocket.
Dutch and English are part of the Germanic family. German is one of the languages that are in the Germanic family. Most people resort to speaking standard/high German.
If you go to Germany you might need to know how to say hello. You say hello in Germany as, Guten Tag. German language is spoken by everybody in Germany.
