CHAPTER 1: TOURISM Germany has over 82 million people. These tourists are attracted by the variety of the landscape. Tourists are also flocked to the Lakeland areas in Holstein and Mecklenburg. The outdoors is also a people attraction. It attracts millions of people all around the world.
BERLIN Berlin is the largest city in Germany. It is also one of the foremost places to visit. 700 years ago, Berlin was a small fishing village. Later it eventually expanded into a busy market place.
POPULAR ATTRACTION PLACES Cologne is home to the famous cologne cathedral. It stands on the site of a 4th century roman temple. It is one of the best known architectural monuments in Germany.
THE DESDEN ZWINGER PALACE The Dresden Zwinger palace in Dresden is a very popular attraction. It was built in the early 1700s. It was lucky enough that it was not destroyed by bombs that fell from the sky in World War II. Now it is a museum as well as a national landmark. This palace is most famous for the Madonna Sistina or Sistina Madonna masterpiece of Rafael, which is housed in this historic palace. This painting has been a part of popular culture thanks to its z famous chubby angles known as, Rafael’s angles.
OKTOBERFEST The biggest beer festival in the world is Oktoberfest in the city of Munich. This fest is celebrated on September, 22-Oct 7, after the harvest is already gathered. Oktoberfest gives people lots of fun and beer.
CASTLES AND PALACES Germany has over 150 castles. However, the oldest castle is in Neckarstienach. It is called the Hinterburg. Hinterburg was built a bit after 1100 AD.
There are many other castles and palaces.
CHAPTER 2: FOOD When it comes to, visitors German fest is known for there culinary achievements. In some cases it’s approaching gargantuan Guinness world record book proportions. There are more than 1500 brands of beer in this country. There are also over 300 different kinds of bread in Germany.
Germans eat all kinds of foods which include foreign dishes. It is said to there is over 1500 varieties of sausage. German people mark the scent of fresh coffee for an early breakfast. This is often made of fresh white rolls, or, Brotchen served with cheese, jam or thin slices of ham. Germany is also famous for there pies, and cakes. A famous cake of there’s the black forest cake.
Every kind of fish and sea food is served including Seezunge (sole), prawns and the popular eel soup. Germany is the land of the Wurst (sausage), and many different kinds are produced. Berliners are very fond of the Fat pork, Blotwurst, Lebwurst (liverwurst) and Blutwurst (blood sausage), and knack Wurst (the name comes from the popping sound made by the first bite) and bratwurst (fried sausage) are but a few others. The frankfurter is the most German sausage, but though it is known by that name around the world in German and even in frankfurter it’s called einwiener wurschen or (Vienna sausage).
Many of these outlets also sell belegetbrotchen, crisp rolls with cheese or ham, salami, egg, tomato and more. The donor kebab was brought to Germany by the Turkish immigrants. It is thin slices of grilled veal, lamb or chicken in crisp pita bread and topped with onions and more.
