FORWARD
Could you imagine if we still all believed the world was flat? What a bland land. Snowboarding is not a two-dimensional act, yet snowboard design is still stuck in a two-dimensional world. Over a decade ago we challenged the idea, like Pythagoras did with spherical earth, that a snowboard should have three-dimensional shaping. We dissected surfing hydrodynamics and the art of the turn, we thought of boat hulls and how they plane in water, we thought of skateboard deck concave. All these things relate to how a snowboard behaves in snow. So we tinkered and engineered then rode a whole hell of a lot. Heck, we’ve been riding and refining our three-dimensional Triple Base Technology board shaping for over a decade and we’re pretty proud of how it performs. We’ve learned a lot over the years and it’s given us the most 3D shaping knowledge in the industry. It’s our ethos and how we’ve built boards since day one. Rather than ship off all of our years of hard work to some random foreign factory, we hired some of the best snowcrafters in the world to handbuild our boards in a mountainous land called Austria. Yes, the Austrian mountain folk have been building snowcraft for a very long time and they’re highly skilled at board building. For 2015–16 we pushed Triple Base Technology shaping even further. We sculpted it into an asymmetric form for dedicated freestyle folk, developed our smallest 3BT boards yet for the youngins, crafted a 3BT Twin Powder shape from our Whitegold development lap and created a new Proto board here as well, designed a new performance park board for the ladies and even got into surfing by taking our collaboration with surfing legend Bill Stewart to the swell. We’re not sure where everyone is headed, but we’re plowing our way to one hell of roly, poly, curvy, swervy land of snowy mountains. 5

WHY TRIPLE BASE TECHNOLOGY AND WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Your snowboard may appear simple and flat, but the subtle changes of sidecut, flex, shape, core and more come to life when you ride. When you lay it on edge, snap it off a lip, mash it through a down flat down or bury the tail in pow the board tweaks and becomes a dynamic tool for the rider atop. The board is a complex mix of materials that reacts with your inputs and the snow, metal, wood—whatever you happen to shred it through. Pressures are exhibited here, lessened there. The glass fibers flex and rebound. The core compresses. The edges bend and bite. That simple piece of wood is not so simple anymore is it? Triple Base Technology is a design that looks at how the shape, materials and the board as a whole reacts with the snow whether it’s turning, pressing, sending, or any other contorted form you happen to make with it. This is what we spent a long time studying and tinkering with and it’s what led to our signature 3BT designs. 3BT boards are built with tip-to-tail positive camber and base concavity near the tips, with the proper materials to match. This fusion delivers all the awesome benefits of camber, rocker, flat and hybrid designs without the downfalls of each. 3BT is it’s own breed, something completely unique. Tip to Tail Camber, Rocker Rail to Rail We design boards with tip to tail camber because it gives them a powerful backbone. Camber’s spring and rebound is what creates lively turns, offers suspension, and helps keep you balanced and in control when you’re flying down a mountain. It allows you to load up pop instead of looping out like V, U, moustache and mushy banana shapes. Think about it: ollies are derived from crouching down, rocking back and loading up the board’s tail. You want as much spring as possible, right? Camber also offers suspension. Yes, like a racecar from front to back and side-to-side. The board’s bent shape absorbs forces at the tips instead of directing that impact to your feet. And when you lay down your board for a tasty carve, your weight and the added forces applied through your momentum flex the heart of the board from the tips or contact points inward. This leaf spring like reflex gives you response, power, control and zing unlike a pre clapped-out profile (i.e. rocker). Camber is good, but it’s highly concentrated around the board’s contact points, which dig into the snow, tend to dive in powder, and are far from your center of gravity and foot control. When you’re just a bit off, camber will send you for a slam, scorpion, or tomahawk before you can even utter the “O” of “Oh shit!” Camber is awesome, but it’s temperamental. 10
Tip-to-tail rocker and reverse-camber designs eliminate aforementioned harsh edge pressures by lifting the tip and tail contact points off the snow and moving them inward. The edge pressure of rocker and reverse camber shapes is concentrated in a small area around your feet giving you half the control you used to have. Save for a bit of added float in powder and easy presses, this renders your tips nearly useless and eliminates the benefits of snap, suspension, edge hold, control—all the good things of a positive camber profile. Sure, these designs deliver a playful and forgiving ride, but they make the board far less predictable, prone to looping out, give it weaker edge hold and no suspension. A Whole New Breed 3BT’s genius lies in fine-tuning the pressure and place of contact points in a camber profile by introducing base and edge uplift, think of it as targeted rocker from edge to edge. When turning, pressures drive the edges into the snow with the most concentrated part at the contact points. In fact, such pressures actually push upward against the base. By gradually curving the base profile towards the tips it changes the game by dispersing this pressure over a larger, more controllable area. Suddenly there’s a smoother transition when initiating turns, transferring from edgeto-edge, and sliding through transitions, yet the board doesn’t lose its foundation of grip. It now has a more natural arc and contact with the snow that creates smoother turns, easier edge control and stronger edge hold. The base uplift offers forgiveness without losing power steering. The flat or centerbase section of 3BT serves as a large, stable area underfoot and in the tips. It’s a steady place to press, pop, land or point it without the added drag of camber and uncertainty of edge catch. When it comes to butters, 3BT’s tip curvature spreads it like margarine. Kinked jibs? Wallrides? No problem, the 3BT edge uplift is like a huge bevel that helps you grease those kinks and awkward angles. 3BT also shines on landings by offering a big, flat stable area to stomp as well as loose tips that won’t penalize you if you’re a bit off on your rotation. 3BT’s concavity is inherently better at planing and floating in soft snow, too, since it acts like a ship’s hull. No matter what board in the line, it will naturally float and carve better than a board with flat tips. We’ll step off our soapbox now, and you don’t have to believe all we preach, but if you ride one of our boards you’ll feel the difference.

3BT How it Works and What it Does

Triple Base Technology divides the nose and tail in 3 sections: A left sidebase section, a centerbase section and a right sidebase section. The uplifted base areas make initiating turns easier and faster, with less effort. The total uplift distance starts at zero under the bindings and gradually increases towards the widest points of the board. As you initiate a turn, edge’s contact and grip grows outward from your bindings and along an

arc to form a complete effective edge when fully committed. The uplifted sidebases make your board forgiving when going straight, but when you tilt the board just a few degrees the edge fully engages without the torsional stress or pressures of a traditional camber and sidecut array. Because the board has no edge-to-edge concave between the bindings and full tip-to-tail camber
down the center, it keeps all the performance and control of a traditional cambered board. At the same time, the angled sidebases give you the playfulness, forgiveness and powder float we have come to appreciate from rockered designs. TBT combines camber and rocker into one shape, and it actually works.
One To Go Straight, Two For Turns
Two to three degrees of lift is all it takes to engage the complete edge. When engaged it has the same shape and contact as a traditional cambered board, but the pressure is equal along the whole edge and no torsional stresses are introduced.

Lots of Advantages No Disadvantages Haulin’ When pointing it or navigating sketchy traverses the board accelerates faster and holds more speed since the uplifted edges don’t drag.
Controlled Bite/Catch Less Edges The uplifted edges make for a more forgiving board without sacrificing performance.
Ollies Ollies are more powerful than a cambered board because the concave shape from rail to rail in the tips loads up even more pop when compressed.
Powder The hull-like shape of the tips has inherent floating and planing properties. Enough said.
Turns When laid on edge, the uplifted sections along the edge form a truer more cohesive arc with the snow surface.
Landings With less initial edge bite at the contact points, you can ride away from not-so-perfect landings rather than eating shit. And if you happen to put it down perfect, the stable centerbase locks in stomps.
Park & Jibs The flat centerbase provides a large area to lock in presses and the uplifted edges around the bindings need little to no beveling. Glide through kinks, wallrides, boxes, transitions and more with the extra forgiveness of uplifted edges.
3BT offers more speed and control whether you’re creeping along a flat cat track or pointing it into the big kicker. The base uplift creates a shorter total edge contact when pointed straight. Less edge drag means less friction and more speed. And when you straight line it the board will simply go straight and feel stable, not twitchy. Positive cambered boards tend to dig and drag, forcing the rider to always be on edge to maintain control which diminishes speed. On a 3BT board all you have to do is simply sit back, relax, and let ‘er rip.
Because 3BT design lifts the edges near the tip and tail—the areas where the most pressure is exerted into the snow—the board does not have the volatile pressure points of a traditionally shaped camber board that digs into the snow and causes edge catch. Instead, 3BT shaping reduces pressure around the nose and tail by dispersing it, therefore allowing for a smoother, more controlled ride that’s less prone to violent edge catches and scorpion slams. The forgiving tips are easier to butter and more lenient on landings.
Camber gives more pop than a rockered shape because you can store more elastic energy, but when you add 3BT to the mix things get explosive. Every board comes pre-loaded with extra pop thanks to the concave nose and tail profiles. When flexing the tail for an ollie the forces are directed and focused towards the center of the tail section where they seriously pop you out. It’s like snapping an ollie using a brand new skateboard on fresh concrete.
The concaved shape of the nose and tail are inherently designed to float in powder, rather than sink like a traditional cambered tips. Think about the shape of most watercraft, they have bellied bottoms that provide maximum float and allow them to plane on the surface of the water for less drag, more speed and control. The same goes for a snowboard shape in powder. This shape allows the front to rise up, but it makes it easier to sink the tail, offering a more comfortable riding position in deep snow that quells back leg burn.
When a 3BT board is laid on edge and into a turn the subtle concavity along the rails at the tip and tail form a more fluid, more complete arc between board and snow. Smoother, more cohesive arcs mean truer, more powerful turns. As the board is rolled side-to-side when turning, the beveled tips give the board a silkier transition of edge-to-edge as well. Slower turns are easier, faster turns are more predictable, and carving those full circles in corduroy just got easier.
3BT is a lot more forgiving on landings. On a conventional snowboard, an under rotation will often result in an out-of-control landing, or worse, an edge catch to scorpion. This is because the edges of our boards are raised at the widest points and are therefore far less likely to dig in. The board therefore tends to automatically track back to going straight on landings, even when the rider is off balance, since it is the centerbase section which hits the snow first rather than the nose or tail sidebase sections.
Conventional cambered snowboard shapes are difficult to navigate through transitions because the widest part of the nose ploughs into the wall and kills speed whether going up or down a transition. Rocker and reverse camber designs glide through transitions, but offer little control and loop out. The beveled tips of a 3BT board, however, have less drag and offer a smoother glide up and down transitions while still maintaining control. This means faster, smoother and more predictable takeoffs on pipes, hips, lips, and landings, too.

3BT is not as simple as just adding a bit of bend. We’ve been working on it for over a decade and have come up with specific blends of bends for all types of riding, riders and conditions.

Our Jib 3BT shapes are tuned with true twin shapes, soft flexes and the widest centerbase in the range for locked in presses, stable slides and powerful ollies. These boards feature the longest section of edge uplift amongst the line that starts around the bindings and extends outward, offering a loose, buttery, forgiving feel and less hang-ups.
We developed our Park 3BT to be playful yet stable with a wide centerbase, slight camber and true twin shape to perform in terrain parks around the globe. The edge uplift areas start mid-binding and extend towards the tips for a loose feel with less bite. The wide centerbase on the other hand helps with stability off lips, on landings, in presses and at high speeds.
Our Asymmetric 3BT shaping is a twist on our twin design that better balances your body’s build on the board with a shorter edge uplift area on the heelside, which offers better heelside stability. The toeside edge, where you have more control and leverage over the board, has a longer uplift section for a loose, playful feeling. The board shape remains completely twin; it’s only the uplift that is asymmetrical.
Our new Twin Pow 3BT was inspired by our tapered pow and freeride designs, but put into a shorter, wider, twin frame that handles deeps as well as it pops and rides switch. The 3BT sections match this shape by being shorter and wider as well. The larger surface area means you can size down and ride a more maneuverable board, yet still get the same float and stability.

Our all mountain freestyle shapes are the most versatile boards in the line. Their twin-ish shapes, more aggressive camber profile, medium centerbase width, and longer contact length between the feet produce a powerful ride with freestyle tendencies and powder float.
Our freeride shaping features a narrow centerbase for swift edge transfer and smooth drawn out carves. The shape is slightly setback and tapered for backseat steering, high speed haulin’ and optimized powder float.
These boards are tapered, have setback stances, and feature the narrowest centerbase section and the most uplift out of all the shapes, making them the most surfy of the bunch. The nose has more uplift angle and overall area for maximum float, and the tail has a mellower uplift angle and smaller area for better backseat riding.

Ingredients
Woodcores This new core has added honeycomb compartments that reduce weight in the tip and tail area reducing the boards swing weight.
Our Split Core is a full-length wood core with a twist. We put a 23mm wide bamboo stringer down the centerline to create a powerful backbone, and for those inclined to do so it makes the board easy to cut into a splitboard since the bamboo acts like a sidewall and naturally seals out moisture and protects the core.
Made with a combination of Swiss poplar and paulownia wood for optimal strength to weight. Not only is this core light, it’s tough enough to handle the rigors of aggressive riding and abuse. Light enough to feel the difference when you loft an ollie or pick up your board, yet strong enough for high speed, high chatter riding.
Dual density full wood core composed of poplar with beech running tip to tail along the rails. This fortifies the board’s edges against impacts and delivers stronger, more precise edge hold and turns while also promoting reactive pop along the edges.

Layups Our bi-axial or two-way fiberglass is a 90-degree weave of fiberglasses placed under and atop the core to strengthen and add pop to the board. We place our material at a 45-degree angle rather than a 90-degree angle to the edge so you get better overall board feel, flex and edging. Our bi-ax layups create a really maneuverable board, one that you can almost steer with your feet.
Our tri-axial or three-way fiberglass is a weave of fibers in three directions: 45, 0 and -45 degrees. It’s like our bi-ax layup, but with added fibers running tip to tail. This stiffens up the board and adds more snap, while also offering better edge control and grip. The added strands of glasses make boards more aggressive and more responsive overall.
Just like you put a fleece layer on for cold days, we add a layer of composite material around the inserts of the board for strength and more rapid and precise power transfer from your bindings.
Used with the same purpose as our composite fleece, yet Kevlar is lighter, stronger and even more powerful with energy transfer underfoot and edge to edge.
Extra Additives Carbon adds explosive snap, precise control, smooth dampening and it’s feather light. We use it to enhance the ride of our high-end boards. By placing Carbon stringers in key areas of the board we are able to increase the connection between the rails of your board making it feel more responisive
Bases
Not your cheap, run-of-the-mill extruded base. We the highest quality extruded base money can buy with the highest molecular content. Our extruded bases are durable, fast, simple to repair and require little to no waxing to keep them gliding. We finish it with a proper hot wax before they leave the factory.
Hard and fast. Our sintered base material is tough stuff and its microscopic pores retain wax nuggets for a slick slide. To get the maximum benefits of a sintered base it needs to be waxed regularly. We finish ours with a proper hot wax before they leave the factory.
Kevlar can stop a speeding bullet and it can also make your snowboard lighter and snappier in a simular way as carbon does. By placing Kevlar stringers in key areas of the board we can control the way a board flexes and responds to pressure
Cork is put into the board to get rid of unwanted vibrations and smooth out your riding experience we use it in stringers placed under the core in combination with carbon on most Whitegold boards.

We wanted to create a stubby, but powerful board. Something that could float like the best of them, but haul ass like the rest of them. So we crafted a directional board that’s not boring in a powdery shape that’s not too fishy. It has a shorter and wider shape with a bigger nose and tapered tail. We like to launch our protos with new design ideas. In this one you will find our new honeycore a special woodcore which has ultra light weight honeycomb areas embedded in the core. We think we created a monster.

The Shaka is our surfy, high-end Camel Toe, kind of like the camel toe one might find along the shores of Rio, Monaco, Southern California or exotic locales in the Caribbean. It builds on the 3BT powder shape and design characteristics of the CT, but adds in a bevy of high-end materials for a more robust ride. Its triangular carbon stringers in the tip and tail make it highly playful without compromising the soft and supple feel around the mid-section. It also has Portugese cork slabs atop the core to disperse rude chatter and bamboo sidewalls for more lively response and strength along the edges. With a flyweight Very Light core, fine German steel edges and a hidden bamboo center stringer for DIY splitboard operations, it’s lean and ready to lay down lines.

For heading into the cold, deep and steep of northern lands only the very best snow sword will do. We crafted the North with our highest-end materials and chiseled it into a directional 3BT shape. It bears fine German steel edges to slice through any snow condition and our Swiss wood Very Light core for the utmost strength to weight ratio. There’s more beneath its cloak though, it has two carbon strips running lengthwise near the rails for precise edge bite, power and potent pop, and Portuguese cork slabs atop the core to smooth out high speed vibration. We also put a 23mm wide sealed bamboo stringer down the center so you can create a DIY splitboard without damaging the core. It’s finished off with reactive bamboo sidewalls and a super tough sintered base to excel in the cold climes and terrain of your journey.

Kevin Sansalon rides all Whitegold boards all the time because that is what he does. He rides the heck out of the prototypes to the final models and every board in so they are just perfect by the time they make it under your feet. Whistler, British Columbia is his home mountain and every Whitegold has to be able to rip here from top to bottom. Because that’s also what Kevin does.

From the remote stretches of the Whitegold Mountains we weaved together a rare and beautiful ride. The Magic Carpet is a new board to the line with a twin powder design. Its featherweight Very Light Swiss wood core is composed of poplar and paulownia that hovers atop snow and strikes mean ollies and slashes with ease. Its fine German Steel edges can slice through all mixtures of frozen water and rarely need honing. The rubberized cork sidewalls handle turbulent skies and even rougher landings by dampening impacts and vibrations along the edge. Its massive twin tips are freakishly floaty thanks to their large surface area and generous edge uplift. The shorter, wider tip shape also means you can ride a smaller length board, but get the same amount of float in a more maneuverable package.

Built on the foundation of the ever-popular Evil Twin, we laced up The Boss with crossed carbon fiber slabs under the bindings to boost ollies, steady landings, and add torsional stability. Evil Twin Asymetrical Fig 1.5 Putting in the edges
If humans were symmetrical we would look a hell of a lot different than we do. Although we’ve adapted our bodies to ride symmetrical snowboards, we created an asymmetrical shape to better balance the ride. We developed this board with Ethan and Halldor to be more stable on big ‘ol nasty booters and steep, icy landings. But it also works for regular humans on regular jumps, too. The asymmetrical design takes the popular traits of the Evil Twin—the Core Core, tri-axial layup, medium flex—and wraps it into an asymmetrical 3BT shape. We give the board a shorter heelside uplift area since you have less control and leverage on this edge. The toeside, however, has a longer base uplift area since you can precisely control this part of the board. Better boarding through science!

We prepare it with soft bi-axial glass for velvety flex, dent deterring sintered base to stand up to rocks and jibs and dual-density wood core for a reactive flex. We finish it off with carbon slabs perpendicular to the rails right around the bindings for some underfoot zing in ollies without messing up that smooth longitudinal flex for presses. We pack all these ingredients into our Park 3BT shaping that has a wide centerbase for stability in jibs and general ripping, with just enough rail uplift for a playful forgiving ride. The Evil Twin is our staple and most universal twin tip board. Unlike evil twin Wi-Fi that will rob your bank account and identity, you can trust this Evil Twin’s network of wood, fiberglass, steel and plastic goods. It features our poplar wood Core Core that has additional hardwood stringers from tip to tail along the insert packs to increase strength and channel more power and pop. Between every layer of the sandwich construction we put a thin spread of glue. We use a special polyurethane-based glue, which allows us to press our boards at a lower heat, which causes less stress to the base in the manufacturing process. Glue is essential for snowboards to hold together and until someone figures out a natural glueing agent we will unfortunately not be able to make a true green snowboard.

We put our full poplar wood Pop Core in the middle and sandwiched it with bi-axial fiberglass for a buttery smooth flex and proper press and pop properties. Camel Toe Stewart I & II Stewart 3BT Surfboard You never know what people may hoard and forget about, it’s like a ticking time capsule. For legendary surfboard shaper Bill Stewart it was a prototype snowboard he built in 1981 that was way ahead of its time. The local resort wouldn’t let him ride it so he tossed it in the shed, where it sat for over 30 years. When we discovered it a few years ago we thought it was a pretty groundbreaking design and awfully similar to our 3BT shaping. So we introduced our pow-slaying Camel Toe Stewart Edition board last season with Bill’s original graphics as a tribute. The board is back again this season, with insane speeding earth wave-churning galactic fireball graphics airbrushed by Bill.

But there’s more... We’ve taken things to a whole other level by working with Bill on a new surfboard. We pooled our 3-dimensional design expertise with Bill’s surfboard building knowledge and created a one of a kind surfboard with 3BT shaping elements. Omni is the Latin prefix for all or every, but the Omni for us is a freeride cruiser for all conditions and every mountain thanks to its directional shape and medium flex. Its thee-way weave of tri-axial fiberglass bears utmost precision and control from tip to tail and edge to edge. The hardwood stringers of the Reactor Core along the sidewall promote drawn out carves and full rail stability at speed. Our Freeride 3BT shaping has a narrow centerbase, which promotes swift edge transfer and velvety turns. The setback 3BT shaping, combined with optional Backseat Inserts puts you in the driver seat on deep days, too.

You don’t need to be G.I. Jane to enjoy this board. Simply a lady who likes to rip the entire mountain is all it takes. The Push Up’s medium flex and more pronounced camber make it the stiffest in the ladies line and give it a responsive and reactive feel. It also has a more narrow centerbase section for swifter edge-to-edge action and truer turns. Built with solid poplar wood in the core and balanced bi-axial fiberglass give it a steady platform. Its slightly tapered outline and added length in the nose make it ready for all-mountain ripping and ready to weather the storm. Push-ups optional.
In this machine we can control the exact angle of the edges over the length of the board. We give our boards a slight edge bevel so the board is not too aggressive or hooky.

Terrain parks create a distorted reality. It’s one of transitions, tubes and foreign objects that are strange for most resort goers, but totally awesome for snowboarders. We built the Distoria for ladies that like to live in this world. It’s a soft-medium flexing true twin with a centered stance and our Park 3BT shaping, giving it a wide centerbase section that’s stable to jib, press, slide, snap and land. The full poplar wood core and bi-axial fiberglass are chock full of snappy positive camber. The 3BT edge uplift outside the bindings gives it a catch-free feel for greasy butters, putting down landings and avoiding scorpion slams. It’s slimmed down to fit the female frame and ready to turn park dreams into reality.

Here a board receives a final hand wax finish on top of the standard factory wax to make sure it’s fast and not furry or dried out when you tear it out of the plastic. We advise everyone to give their board a few good waxes after the first couple rides keep it waxed as much as possible, especially on sintered bases.

We’ve all had a shitty day of snowboarding whether it’s cold boots, wet gloves, crashes or crappy weather. Well, we invite you to forget about the past and Feel Better. We know one board can’t change any of the above, but riding the Feel Better sure as hell will make the shitty times less shitty and the fun times more fun. We engineered the core and laminates of this board with a super soft edge-to-edge and tip-to-tail flex for easy control and consistent underfoot feel. We shaped it with our Park 3BT so it would have a stable medium-wide centerbase, plus the benefits of our edge uplift like less edge catches, smoother turns and better pow float.
