“And whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears, to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty's lamp guiding your steps and opportunity's arm steadying your way.” Ronald Reagan, August 17, 1992, during remarks at the Republican National Convention Dear Friend, Dear Friend, President Ronald Reagan was a man of conviction and ideals. A man who believed in the importance of citizenship, integrity, and optimism. A man who stood up for what he believed in. He did appeal to our best hopes. He did appeal to our confidence. That’s why we, here at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, work every day to promote the legacy of our nation’s fortieth president by convening, educating and engaging people around the world in his core principles of freedom, economic opportunity, global democracy and national pride. This past year we dedicated and unveiled a permanent plaque in Berlin on the spot where President Reagan stood 25 years ago at the Brandenburg Gate declaring, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” We hosted speeches from Congressman (and Vice Presidential Candidate) Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Georgian President Mika Saakashvilli, Steve Forbes, and talk radio host Mark Levin. We grew our social media outreach to promote the President’s legacy to people worldwide.
