OVERVIEW: In 2017, Canadian Real Estate Forums – powered by Yardi and supported by Avison Young and Rentlogic – surveyed the Canadian multi-residential market to better understand what rental tenants want. Over 10,000 Canadians responded with more than 7,000 completing the survey each making their own preferences known and thereby providing a broad demographic and geographic representation of Canadians renting their homes. These renters occupied purpose built rentals, condominiums and houses. This 2017 data presents those in the industry with the opportunity to purchase: 1. An interactive tableau based dashboard that allows for simple and complex analysis. 2. A white paper that will provide an overview of the information in summary format. 3. Both of the above.

INTERACTIVE DASHBOARD:     

The Dashboard is an interactive tool that allows you and your team to conduct simple and complex analysis of the 2017 survey findings. You will have access to permanently download your work product in Image, PDF or Numerically. One user per company will be included in the price. Additional licensees can be purchased for a fee. Access will be online until May 1st 2018. Following which the Dashboard will be taken off-line as we work to integrate the 2018 data. SAMPLE PAGE VIEWS

WHITE PAPER    

Released October 2017, the white paper provides an overview of the data set in a PDF format. Charts and text summaries will be included Geographic focused and national perspective will be included Please note: Custom White papers are available on request at additional charge.

BACKGROUND How We Looked at the 2017 Data • • •

We asked questions that focused on preferences, amenities, lifestyle choices, technology and operations Once the results were in we tabulated them based on income, age, position in life, dependents, etc. the information was then cross referenced to enable in-depth findings We have produced a detailed dataset that is both dynamic and easy to filter thereby providing custom reports based on market and demographic criteria

Sample 2017 Question Asked: We asked tenants a range of demographic questions to better understand our audience following which we asked them a range of in depth questions that include the following: Please Note: This is not an exhaustive list but intended as sample to provide an understanding of the scope and depth of the survey LANDLORD SATISFACTION  If you are currently a tenant, what is your level of satisfaction with your landlord/manager/owner?  How likely would you be to recommend your landlord to a friend or colleague?  How can your landlord improve your customer experience?  Does the unit you are renting now fully meet your needs?  If you answered NO to the question above, what is the main reason why?  If you have lived in your rental home for more than one year, what are the top two reasons that you have stayed?  If you are planning to terminate and move apartments, could your landlord convince you to stay? AMENITIES, FEATURES, LOCATION, SIGNING FACTORS  If you were to rent a unit with only one bathroom would you (require a bathtub, prefer a large shower etc.)?  Would you be willing to pay more rent, if any of the following were upgraded in your current rental Home?  Is there sufficient parking at your rental?  How important are the following amenities/Features/Proximity Options//Signing Factors to you? (In depth list of choices from which they choose Essential (would not rent without), Important, Not Important)?  If you have a concierge, is it important for them to accept packages? FUTURE PLANS  If you are looking to move in the next 12 months, do you anticipate your monthly carrying costs to: (up, down etc.)  If you are looking to purchase a home, when do you anticipate doing so?  In the next 12 months, do you plan on: (Staying in the same rental home, moving into a rental condo etc.)? TECHNOLOGY  Does your building have an online community portal that allows you to plan and attend social events and network with residents?  Is it important for you to engage with your rental community over the following services? (various choices provided)  Ideally, how would you like your management company / landlord to communicate with you on issues or items affecting your community and/or rental unit? (various choices provided)  In renting your latest unit, did you visit the company website ahead of time?  If you had your choice, would you rather submit a service request by: (various choices provided)  Would you prefer to pay your rent with: (various choices provided) Please remember the above is a sample of the over 90 questions that were asked and answered

What Does 2018 Look Like? • • • • • •

We are looking to increase condo tenant respondent base We will look to increase geographic reach We will once again involve the industry in question formation providing useful and valuable insights We will have a focus on Green/Technology/Operations and Development We will look to introduce layout/common area and design elements as features We will look to grow the respondent base to also include segments like student, seniors etc.
