Each individual component of this must-see series o ers fascinating ties to George Vanderbilt’s collection of treasures on display in his magni cent family home, Biltmore House.

• Van Gogh Alive, the first installment of

Biltmore’s exhibition series, Legends of Art &

Innovation at Biltmore, opens Nov. 5, 2021 and runs through March 5, 2022.

• Taking up residence at Amherst at Deerpark, an event space on Biltmore’s grounds, Van

Gogh Alive explores the works and life experiences of Vincent van Gogh during the period 1880 to 1890.

• The exhibition interprets his thoughts, feelings, and state of mind during his time in The

Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint-Remy and

Auvers-sur-Oise, the locations where he created many of his timeless masterpieces.

• The works are viewed in hyper-fine detail, with special attention paid to key features, allowing time to study color and technique. Van Gogh’s works are also augmented with photographs and video to demonstrate his sources of inspiration.

• Synchronized to a powerful classical score, more than 3,000 Van Gogh images, projected at enormous scale, create a thrilling display that fills giant screens, columns, and even the floor – completely immersing guests in vibrant colors and vivid details that constitute Van Gogh’s unique style.

• During this 45-minute long multi-sensory presentation, you are encouraged to move about the space to enjoy a variety of perspectives of the artist’s story and masterworks.

• Unique to Biltmore’s Van Gogh exhibition is the inclusion of imagery of the estate’s vast field of sunflowers. Van Gogh’s paintings of sunflowers are among his most famous. The exhibition includes a mirrored room filled with sunflowers.

• George Vanderbilt and his wife, Edith, were both passionate patrons of the arts. Avid travelers, they collected pieces from around the world for

Biltmore House.

• Having these exhibitions complements the

Vanderbilt family’s collection. Among the pieces, the Vanderbilt collection contains two Monets that will be exhibited for the first time when the Monet & Friends exhibit opens in 2022.

• After Van Gogh Alive concludes, Biltmore will welcome Monet & Friends – Life, Light & Color

March 9, 2022 through July 10, 2022; followed by

Leonard Da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius running

July 14, 2022 through Jan. 8, 2023.
