PARTNER AGENCY SPOTLIGHT

Finally Home was founded in 2008 to equip foster, adoptive and kinship families with tools to help neglected, abused, and wounded children heal. Finally Home has been hosting family strengthening events, service projects, and resource distribution in Northern Colorado since 2010. At their family strengthening events, trained instructors present research-based education to adults while children and youth attend SuperHero Academy and Finally Home Teen programs. Because these programs are offered concurrently with the parent training, participants can attend as a whole family. This is significant since it is often difficult to find quality childcare options for children who have experienced trauma, which makes it difficult for parents to get the training and support they need.

SuperHero Academy caters to children from infancy through 5th grade. It includes a curriculum that was developed by therapists, foster parents, and educators. Kids enjoy a fun-filled day that teaches them that they have Super-Hero qualities like integrity, compassion, and kindness.

During Finally Home Teens, youth from sixth through twelfth grades, spend most of their day on a field trip designed to strengthen them physically, socially, and mentally. Past field trips include things like cooking class, equine therapy, and indoor rockclimbing.

Finally Home is impacting the foster and adoptive community by giving both parents and children a place where they can feel connected to other people in similar circumstances. It gives families hope when life feels overwhelming and isolating.

The need for post-placement support has increased in the years since Finally Home was founded. So, while they continue to encourage families, they also equip agencies and churches to effectively serve families. Whether through events or use-at-home products, books, and tools, Finally Home’s program helps the whole family move from surviving to thriving!
