Discover the DFW: Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex We all know the saying “everything is bigger in Texas,” well that statement could not be more true when it comes to the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. A bustling metropolis made up of 13 counties, it is considered the largest metropolitan area in the South. Consisting of more than 7 million residents, it’s larger than Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. The history of this area is like many in Texas, Dallas was first settled by Tennessean John Neely Bryan in 1841, and Fort Worth was originally established as a protection outpost along the Trinity River following the end of the Mexican-American War. The population began to boom after the introduction of the railway system and the oil boom of the 1930s. The railways provided goods and services, allowing the commerce of the town to expand, and the oil boom brought people in by the handfuls, hoping to strike it rich. These once sleepy towns began to turn into a thriving cities.

Today, the DFW area, home to 21 Fortune 500 companies, is still experiencing massive growth. Texas ranked No. 2 among the states, with 54 companies, edging out California with 53, and with New York still leading with 55. Giants like Exxon Mobil, AT&T, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Kimberly-Clark, Texas Instruments, J. C. Penney all call the DFW home. Cities and suburbs alike are all feeling the economic boom with job relocations and corporate expansions. Offering great employment opportunities, some of the best schools in the country, plenty of things to do and see, fantastic highway and transportation systems, and an abundant amount of real estate options, it’s easy to see why the DFW is the place to be. CENTRAL DALLAS
