ART & ICE CREAM LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Hello, Newlands! July in Boulder doesn’t disappoint, and while many of you may travel, there are some special feelings associated with summer in Boulder. If you have just moved here, you may have been inspired to do so on a previous summer Boulder vacation. Or, if you are a longterm Newlands resident, you know how magical this town can be when the students are away and the city puts on its best performance for our summer visitors. Let yourself see Boulder through new eyes this summer and remember why you came and how you can help preserve the magic. I am excited about some artinspired events on my calendar this July: The Pearl Street Arts Fest on July 16; the Boulder Fine Art Street Festival at 29th Street on July 30; or register someone you know who suffers from dementia for the SPARK! Program at the BMoCA on July 13. And, of course, don’t forget to add the Moo-Mobile with free ice cream on July 27 from 5:00-6:30PM at N. Boulder Park. Enjoy the middle month of summer and all the treats that come with it!
I love hosting parties, but I must admit that my perfectionism limits my confidence in throwing a last minute party. I have a friend who throws together magical parties at the last minute, and this month’s lifestyle section is dedicated to his skill and my desire to create effortless and appreciated outdoor

Boulder’s public pool is in the heart of Scott Carpenter Park. While staffing shortages this summer are real, this Boulder favorite is open and at the top of our list. In addition to general public admission, you can cruise the website for group reservations, parties, cabanas, or times to swim laps in the dedicated lap lanes.
One word, classic. Since 1967, this pool has been a North Boulder staple. If you are new to Boulder, this will feel like a throwback (and maybe a little primitive), but for a day trip, pack a cooler and let your kids see how we did pools in the 70s!
FEATURED EVENT This summer’s Newlands community event will be held WEDNESDAY, JULY 27 from 5:00-6:30PM. Come visit the Moo Mobile and the Sweet Cow Ice Cream truck parked on the north side of N. Boulder Park.
