The Yard is a 10,000 square foot training center that will allow the hockey players of Las Vegas the ability to advance their skills when they do not have access to their local rink. The Yard will feature the Can-Ice synthetic ice surface and house a mini-rink, goalie pad, and 5 shooting lanes. The goal of The Yard is to give coaches and players a chance to connect away from their rinks and get as much practice as possible to help grow the talent of players coming out of Las Vegas.

The Pass the Puck Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by 3 local hockey families. “Our mission statement is ‘to assist local hockey families towards a common goal," states Laricchia. He adds: “Hockey is an expensive sport and sometimes, situations arise where a player may miss out on an opportunity to play in a tournament or high-level clinic because of financial reasons. We want to see the sport of hockey grow in Las Vegas and also see the talent level coming from Las Vegas rise. To be able to help families with expenses related to travel hockey or house leagues means the world to us. We have also chosen to assist the Vegas Golden Knights youth sled hockey program as well. These families do so much for their children and help in the community and we want to make sure they have all the equipment they need and the strain of travel expenses for tournaments is lessened.”

The 2 ventures will obviously be able to work hand in hand with donations of rink time to sled program practices and also players who Pass the Puck is assisting.

MEET THE TALENTED ATTORNEY AND MUSICIAN Keith Galliher Jr.

Sometimes you go through life without really knowing where your talents are. In my case, I was committed to be an attorney from a very young age. I worked my way through college and law school. I eagerly began my legal career in Las Vegas in 1974 as an associate attorney with Lionel, Sawyer, Collins and Wartman. This law firm has since disbanded. I left the Lionel firm and joined the Clark County Public Defender’s Office where I practiced criminal law for approximately 1 ½ years. I then went into private practice and have been in private law practice since that time. For the last 30 plus years, I have specialized in Plaintiff’s personal injury representing victims of car crashes, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and negligent security cases. In the later months of 2008, the Great Recession of that time was rearing its ugly head. Christmas was approaching. I was searching for a suitable gift for my beautiful wife, Linda. She had received her share of jewelry, furs, and gift certificates. For some unknown reason, I wanted to give her something different that Christmas perhaps realizing that the next several years would be a deeply depressing financial time for everyone. Clarence Collins is the founding member of Little Anthony and the Imperials and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is also an excellent music producer and my good friend. So I called Clarence in early November of 2008 and told him about my desire to sing a song for Linda as a Christmas gift. After he stopped laughing, he graciously agreed to produce my song. When I arrived at the studio on December 1, 2008, I was understandably nervous despite the fact that I have participated in numerous jury trials during my legal career. Clarence put his arm around me, told me not to worry, and we embarked on my first studio recording. The song was Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.” It was one of Linda’s favorites, so I was determined to gift her with that song for Christmas. The recording went well and both Clarence and the sound engineer were impressed. I took Linda to dinner that evening and played the final mix of my song for her in my CD player in my car. After the first three or four bars, she remarked “that doesn’t sound like Eric Clapton.” When I informed her that it was not Eric Clapton, but in fact, her husband, the tears flowed. She had never heard me sing. That first song led me to record Elton John’s “Blue Eyes” approximately a year and a half later at the request of my daughter. Linda has blue eyes. Up until the time I recorded that song, I thought I was done with recording music after recording “Wonderful Tonight.” As it turns out, I was absolutely wrong about my music recording future. Over the past 11 plus years, I have recorded 70 songs. To date, I have won 75 international music awards. I’m just finishing my 10th album and all my previous albums have been award winners. The genre of the songs I have recorded range from Rock, Pop, Reggae, Country, Funk/Fusion, R&B, Soul to Americana and everything in between. My songs are played on music stations all over the world and can be found on Spotify and iHeartRadio. Additionally, my music can be located on iTunes, CD Baby, Muzak, Amazon Music, Google Music, Deezer, and other music websites throughout the world. My recording of “Ain’t No Sunshine” has occupied one of the top 4 positions on the Niger, Africa easy listening chart for almost 5 years. This song was number 1 for 58 weeks. My musical journey has not ended. Clarence and I are currently recording new music along with our arranger, Pat Thrall. Most recently, we have been creating and writing our own material. If you google Keith Galliher Jr. Music YouTube, you will find approximately 15 music videos we have made. They do not feature exotic locations or 20 backup dancers. The videos are clean, simple, and honest just like our songs. Many thanks to Real Vegas for allowing me to write my musical story and express my great joy at discovering something so wonderful this late in my life.
