Thousands of Nevadans could receive a new wheelchair thanks to a nonprofit with the goal of increasing mobility for an often-expensive necessity. The Nevada Wheelchair Foundation goal to donate 10,000 new wheelchairs to residents in need over the next five years, foundation director John Williams said.

WE do it for mobility, so people can get out of the house, go to the mall, The NWCF as of March gave out over 11,000 wheelchairs since 2002. The Nevada Wheelchair Foundation started back in 2002 by Don Williams who’s goal was to help Nevadan’s with mobility.

The Nevada Wheelchair Foundation is a small part of the Wheelchair Foundation Global that gave out over 1.2 million new wheelchairs worldwide with the same mission statement giving mobility to the ones who need a wheelchair but can’t afford one. Las Vegas resident Joe Franchina who received a wheelchair lately said he found the foundation after researching the cost of wheelchairs. Back pain and sciatic nerve prompted him to consider using a wheelchair on more permanent basis. The wheelchair brand new, taken right out of the box. I expected a wheelchair but not a Ferrari red new one.

Five sizes are available from 16 inch seat to 24 inch seats. There’s a few ways to receive a wheelchair after a brief conversation with assistant director Ivy Williams she can schedule a personal delivery by one of the A team members from the Las Vegas Rotary club, or they can schedule a faster pick up by picking the wheelchair up at the office of the Wheelchair Foundation. If it wasn’t for many volunteers helping unloading the containers of wheelchairs when they arrive, distributing the wheelchairs, office volunteers. The Lions service clubs statewide help with storage and distributing at no charge saving thousands a month.

Businesses in town have stepped up like Richard Harris Law Firm, Dallas Horton Law Firm, First Person Care Clinic, many other nonprofits and businesses helping the foundation with awareness and more.

300 WHEELCHAIRS ARRIVING IN NEVADA!

300 wheelchairs will be arriving here in Las Vegas by Monday of next week. We should be able to start helping our recipients soon with new wheelchairs by the end of next week. Northern Nevada will be getting chairs in late May. ~ JW
