I like Tim Burton films; the way ‘The Corpse Bride’ takes the happiness associated with marriage (the bride, wedding dress etc.) and mixes it with the sadness of death (corpse). The original and creative effect of the juxtaposition is what inspires me.
‘The Nightmare before Christmas’ (musical), ‘Alice In Wonderland’ (adventure), ‘ Sweeny Todd’ (musical), ‘Sleepy Hollow’ (horror), ‘Beetle Juice’ (horror/comedy) and ‘Edward Scissorhands’ (romantic/comedy) are all dark fantasy films of Tim Burtons that inspire me.

One of the characters in Beetlejuice is a bride who wears a red wedding dress. Tim Burton has a tendency to have a brides in his films; whether they are cartoon ones that wear the traditional white dress (The Corpse Bride); or real life ones that wear red dresses (Beetlejuice).I am looking to use a bride in my main image of my music magazine.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is obviously set in the winter so many scenes in this film have snowy surroundings. My house style for my music magazine may be in the style of Tim Burton films so it is a possibility that my main image will have a snowy background.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride is an animated film that doesn’t contain much colour; it has a bleached colour effect giving it a gloomy feel. I am hoping the colour scheme for my music magazine will be in the theme of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 2007 musical film directed by Tim Burton. Sweeny Todd has a black and white theme and the only colour present is red. I like this theme and it is a possibility that I will use this as my house style in my music magazine because I like the disturbed effect the colours give; it also creates tension because the only colour is red which can be associated with blood and terror and there aren't any other colours to lighten the mood making it the perfect theme for my music magazine.
