COMMUNITY SHELL PREVENTING IS BETTER THAN CURING SITE PADANG, SUMATRA, INDONESIA YEAR 2016 PARTNERS BOASSO, LOMBARDINI The situation proposed by the studio is an emergency caused by tsunami, heartquake or flooding. After choosing the “tsunami” scenario, we were assigned Padang as the location, often victim of this calamity. Our design deals with the pre- and posttsunami scenario by giving to the local people a shell building which can protect them before and function as a shelter after the tsunami. It deals with private and public space in a sustainable and low-cost construction which can be produces in different locations all around the coast of Padang.

1

The wide open front to the south and the absence of fixtures (with the using of solely curtains) was driven by Sumatra’s arid weather. The moving parts are not just in their integrity, because the single walls with their cover are movable. Everything works manually, without electricity devices, because the walls lay to a row of wooden rolls. Height of previous tsunami of the zone = 9m. Lot of the project = 10m above sea level. Actual livable scape = 4m upon the lot with an AA.R.D. concrete palafitte and with a foundation of embedded pillars.

NEOGENESIS A STEP TO THE FUTURE SITE GREEN VALLEY, MARS YEAR 2018 PARTNERS SENATORE Designed as a space base for five scientists in Mars, Neogenesis arises as the birth of a new life in the inhospitable planet, following the cellular process of mitosis. Located in the Green Valley, the richest area of glaciers of the Red Planet, the base is composed by three structures divided by function: research and living area, water and energy production and farm.

GREEN VILLAGE REVALUATION OF A HISTORIC VILLAGE SITE QINGSHA, DONGGUAN, CHINA YEAR 2019 PARTNERS SOLO PROJECT IN A GROUP PROJECT WITH SENATORE The existing part of the village near the Clan Hall is currently unusable and the studio aims to redesign the entire area. This is how Green Village was born, and inside of it, the nearest residential area to the Clan Hall. Tradition, sustainability and innovation are key elements in this design to create a balance with the existing fabric and the historic buildings.

Section C 1:1000

Strength to support more weight than general wood. Lighter, quicker to assemble, fire resistant, earthquake resistant, natural storage of carbon, sustainable source. Section D 1:1000

The main focus was to resemble the color of the clan hall clay, but changing the material in a more resistant and durable one.

ZEN - TEA TRADITION IS INNOVATION SITE SHIRAKAWA-CHO, GIFU, JAPAN YEAR 2018 PARTNERS KANG, QIU The aim of the project is to enhance the turistic and cultural fields of the village of Shirakawa-cho which with the possibilities of bigger cities is getting depopulated. My group’s design focused on the student’s dorms, the workshop facilities and the local experience facilities. Personally I dealt with the last one, as its role as a bridge from the new school and the existing population is strong and the key to joining the two worlds. The design takes advantage of the village’s production of tea and wood for function and structure to create a teahouse which jumps from traditional cerimonies to workshops, which feels local for the residents but can also be attractive to tourists.

OASIS SUSTAINABILITY IS INNOVATION SITE DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES YEAR 2021 PARTNERS ANTOINE, BLAGOTIC The project for the specialistic course of Green Building aims to create a sustainable building in the Arabic environment. The mixture of passive techniques such as massing, ventilation and shading, and active techniques such as water cycle, solar panels and geothermal pumps, help to lower the impact on the energy consumption of the building. Still, the sustainable approach is found in the contruction site organization that is minimized by choosing local materials that are quickly producable and by prefabrication.

MULTI-HUB ARCHITECTURE GUIDING SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR SITE SHANGHAI, CHINA YEAR 2021 PARTNERS SOLO PROJECT In the middle of a residential and commercial neighbourhood of an ectic megacity such as Shanghai, the site stand between traditional old architecture and new high-ride buildings. The lost sense of community of the locals defines the project and its purpose to create a social hub of different activities that attarcts people of different age, social background, etnicity and gender. The multi-functional and multi-purpose design aims to be active all day between the buildings and the park. The visual of the site tries to keep the palette and textures of the overall neighourhood but including newer technologies and techniques.

CULTURAL SPRAWL CULTURE BECOMING THE GLUE OF A FRAGMENTED NEIGHBOURHOOD SITE SHANGHAI, CHINA YEAR 2020 PARTNERS SENATORE, LU

The title “Cultural Sprawl” aims to rehabilitate the negative term used for a specific urban phenomenon by assimilating it to a positive spreading of cultural facilities and identity awareness. The designing project starts with the selection of the areas affected by most issues emerged from analysis and interviews, but also adequate as intervention sites. The intervention is divided in areas according to three main focuses: Cultural industry, Commercial expansion and Housing improvement. The “action-plan” is coordinated in three different work-phases and the interventions are organized on three different level of action: Public, Semipublic and Infrastructure system.

THE STRATEGY_

INFRASTRUCTURES Improvement of infrastructure organization and safety Focus on slow-speed movement, WKURXJK WUDIÀF OLPLWDWLRQV DQG pavement re-design punctual intervention to organize parking and circulation, improving people safety

SEMI-PUBLIC SPACE Improvement of the intermediate area between public and private space, working on the old residential block entrances Providing a better quality for the outdoor environment, where the indoor space is lacking Introducing small activities in residential areas as tool of selfsustainment

PUBLIC SPACE Creation of a net of public spaces spreading along the urban fabric, establishing new activities hub for local and foreign users. Design of multi-functional environments and interesting temporary installations. Involvement of the local community in the organization of social and cultural activities in those areas.

Working on Infrastructure: An example of intervennon is the street right in front of Hongkou stadium, which is quite important for posiion and dimension, and yet porely organized and used: - Extension of the public accessibility on the ground floor of unused building and creaang a link with the internal parts of block; - Working with level and steps to shape the slow-traffic space, in order to beeer orgnize the movement of different kind of users.
