Monocrome

Page 1

Monochrome plates My initial plan is to print using black ink as this will print the precise lines from the plate as defined and bold as possible. I then plan to add colour by hand loosely with water colour or busho to areas of the print to represent bursts of imagination. I also think this difference in technique (accurate detail of the print and loose application of the colour) will create a strong contrast and emphasize the concept of the strict era and childhood, Against the innocent, nonsense nature Lewis Carroll believed in and tried to bring back with his storytelling and work.

Etched plate

First print- slightly too much excess ink

Third print- loosing line quality

Second print –shows light are dark areas best, with the right amount of excess ink to show tone and matte areas i.e the beak and dodo coat.
