righteousness of God. Romans 8:1; 2 Corinthians

5:21; Genesis 3:22

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God; And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

Our Perception of Righteousness

We think of righteousness as absolute perfection. To be righteous is to be in right standing, walking uprightly before the Lord. To do that, we must first acknowledge the need for change in our everyday lives. To be righteous does not mean that no sin, or that no infraction has ever taken place. It also, however, is not a license to condemn a brother in a fault. Being righteous means that sin has met its expected end. It has ceased to exist in our lives. 2 Corinthians 5:21 makes it clear that this was not, and is not something that can be accomplished on our own. “For our sake He made Him to be sin, who knew no sin, so that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God.” This simply means to take on the likeness and the attributes of our Father. Make today a day of reflection and hold fast to the newness of life granted to you through salvation in Christ. Remember Romans 8:1 “Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. [John 3:18] Repent, get up, and get busy about our Father’s business. You have a fresh start, a new beginningpurpose that today I am the righteousness of God.
