I personally embrace these words of St. Peter to Jesus on the Mount of the Transfiguration. Prior to being assigned to St. John’s in 2OO7, I had no idea what treasure lay in the Woodland neighborhood of Duluth. Traditionally, St. John’s has been the best kept secret in Duluth, but we want that secret to be known so that more families have the opportunity to take advantage of what St. John’s School has to offer. In keeping with this belief, St. John’s School is responding to the challenge of fulfilling its mission by embarking on the “Building Our Future” Capital Campaign. This effort will address St. John’s most urgent facility and endowment needs and secure as many of St. John’s long-range goals as possible. The founders of St. John’s School did not compromise on their dream of establishing the best school in Duluth. Therefore, we encourage you to make St. John’s a high priority in your charitable giving. As evidence of this priority, note that we have already received a very generous contribution of three million dollars. We invite you to review our plans for the future. It is our hope that you will prayerfully consider the importance of our mission and the challenges that lie ahead, The responsibility of carrying out our mission of excellence in all that we do is ours. The beneficiaries are the students and our shared community. Spend fifteen minutes in our school and you will understand why this endeavor is so vital. Along with offering a great education, the children at St. John’s School are guided to be good, faithful citizens of our community. I am honored and excited to be a part of this school and this project because of the incredible legacy we witness daily. St. John’s School is at a crossroad with a once in a lifetime opportunity. We have an immediate need of six hundred thousand dollars to secure our project, with ground breaking scheduled for May 2010.
