Letters to the Editor
Wonderful tribute
Editor:
The Berlin Veterans Commission would like to thank the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department and the Berlin Lions Club for their donations this year of $10,000 and $12,000, respectively, in $100 gift cards for Berlin veterans and veteran widows in need.
This is the eighth year that the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department has donated gift cards. The department holds four fundraisers annually, and the profits raised at these events are used to purchase the cards.
The funds donated by the Berlin Lions Club come from its annual luminary display.
For the past three years, the Lions have sold luminaries and set them up for Veterans Day all around Veterans Memorial Park. The Lions said it “was truly a community effort that made this event an overwhelming success and will provide needed support to our local veterans. ”
Julie Erickson, chairperson of the Berlin Democratic Town Committee, praised Risolo's advocacy and dedication to service. "Donna brings a passion for community planning and business development," said Erickson. "She will be a steadfast voice for residents and a strong advocate for Berlin."
State Rep. Fazzino commented, "While I will miss the daily work of local government, I have every confidence that Councilor Risolo will offer a thoughtful, valued perspective on the Town Council. I look forward to working with her and all our town officials in moving Berlin forward."
