Bingo fundraiser is back with a bang

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Clintonville Elementary School's popular Friendship Bingo fundraiser returns tonight, Feb. 10. Typically, the event is open to the public. However, due to the overwhelming response this time around, only Clintonville students and their families will be participating.

Clintonville PTO member Susanna Landino, the fifth-grade committee chair, expects more than 170 attendees at the event, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Clintonville.

Holiday notice

North Haven Public Works Field Operations advises residents that refuse and recycling collection for Monday, Feb. 20, Presidents Day, will be unchanged. Also, the Recycling Center, 90 Elm St., will be open. The center’s normal hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Seedy Sunday

Come to Natureworks Garden Center in Northford Sunday, Feb. 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for “Seedy Sunday.” Natureworks has a variety of seeds, seed starting equipment, and experienced staff to help get you off to a great start this gardening season.

Walking program

Fire Explorers

Food bank

The North Haven Community Services Food Bank has a constant need for: mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, coffee, tea, tuna, soup, Chef Boyardee products, instant mashed potatoes, cookies, crackers, macaroni and cheese, protein and granola bars, trail mix, nuts, jerky, peanut butter and graham crackers, dried fruit, fruit snacks, fruit cups, canned fruit, applesauce, juice boxes, pudding cups, peanut butter, jelly, Pop Tarts, cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup. Items can be dropped off at the Department of Community Services office, at the Town Hall Annex Building, 5 Linsley St., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Clothing donation

Bring your used clothing donations to Hope Christian Church, 211 Montowese Ave. Hope Christian Church is partnering with St. Pauly Textile Inc. to provide a woodframe drop-off shed for community use. Accepted items: clothing, shoes, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, curtains, pillowcases and stuffed animals.

Wellness expo

Exhibitors and speakers are sought for the 10th Bi-Annual Passport to Health & Wellness Expo, which will be held April 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Bristol DoubleTree by Hilton. Also, vendors are sought for expos taking place May 21 and Sept. 17 at the VFW in Plainville. Knit, crochet. Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon. Members are invited to join our knitters to create a “Temperature Blanket.” Participants will knit or crochet a row of a blanket in a color assigned according to that day’s temperature. The project will last a whole year. In the end, participants will have a beautiful, memorable keepsake.

Bridge. Wednesdays and Fridays, 12:30 p.m. By stimulating the brain cortex, bridge-playing activity produces higher numbers of the white blood cells that fight disease. All levels of bridge players are welcome.
