Introduction The Education Training Collective (Etc.) is a multi-sector, multi-discipline training provider with a history of providing industry-standard training across the Tees Valley for many years. Through our versatility, our training can be flexed to meet the demands of employers, businesses and individuals – delivering the training you need, when you need it, at a location of your choice. Health & Safety CCNSG Courses ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport (National) Length: 2 Days The aim of this course is to provide contractor site personnel with an underpinning knowledge of Health & Safety to enable them to work on a site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others. This course is designed for anyone working within the petro-chemical, engineering and installation and maintenance sectors and is useful for Managers, Supervisors and Operatives including contractor personnel. On successful completion of the course delegates will receive an ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport. This card must be renewed every 3 years by taking the ECITB CCNSG 1 Day Safety Passport Renewal course. ECITB CCNSG Leading a Team Safely Length: 1 Day This one day course extends the delegate’s understanding gained by obtaining the CCNSG National Safety Passport for site working. It helps supervisory staff who have responsibility for teams, but who may have had little or no training in their H&S responsibilities, little training in the essentials of leadership. The course is designed to provide an essential introduction to managing small teams within the context of health & safety in the engineering construction industry. To attend this course delegates must hold a valid ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport. If a delegate does not have this they will need to attend a CCNSG National 2 Day Safety Passport course first. The CCNSG LaTS card is valid for 3 years.
ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport (National) Refresher Length: 1 Day This course is a one day refresher for those who already hold the CCNSG Safety Passport National Course. The Renewal course can only be taken if a delegate’s current card is within the 3 month grace period: This is 3 months before, and up to 3 months after the card expiry date. Once this grace period has lapsed candidates must take the full 2 day CCNSG Safety Passport course. This course is designed for Managers, Supervisors and Operatives working within the petro-chemical, engineering and installation and maintenance sectors including contractor personnel, who need to renew an existing CCNSG Safety Passport card. On successful completion of the course delegates will receive a new ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport card valid for another 3 years. ECITB CCNSG Replacement Safety Passport Card If you have lost or damaged your existing CCNSG Safety Passport card we can issue you with a replacement, providing your original is still valid. You will need to complete a new registration form and bring the following: •
Photo ID: This is for authentication of the person being issued the safety passport card

ECITB Working at Height What Is Working at Height? ‘Working at height’ means working in a place where a person could be injured by falling from it, even if it is at or below ground level.
Working at Height Regulations apply to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury.

What Is Rope Access? IRATA International’s rope access system is a safe method of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the workplace, and to be supported there.
Our facilities are built with unique steel structures that have been designed with the help of 40 years’ experience in the industry, providing the perfect environment for rope access, working at height, trade rope access competency and decommissioning.

Entry Requirements: Level 1 accreditation plus 12 months & 1000 hours working as a Level 1 Technician.

You will learn, characteristics of a safe system work, including equipment, legal requirements, objective hazards, risk assessments and method statement, conformity and certification, inspection, emergency considerations and rescue procedure. Basic principles of movement on ropes – ascent, descent, changing from ascent to descent, changing from rope-to-rope, crossing a knot, aid climbing and traversing, passing rebelays and deviations, use of a back system, elementary rigging and rope management, elementary rescue.
You will learn detailed knowledge of applicable legislation, competence in inspection and care of equipment, casualty care, risk assessment and method statements and all site management, equipment inspection, management and records, rescue management technical and/or complex access and rigging techniques, including fall protection methods.
Rope Access Technician - IRATA Level 2 Length: 5 Days Entry Requirements: Level 1 Certification You will refresh all Level One theory, in addition to: Tensioned lines, work restraint, horizontal lifelines, anchorage selection, team work, communication. Equipment and rigging covering Level One and in addition shall include the following: Wide ‘Y’ hang, re-belay, deviations, rope and sling protection, pull-through, work-restraint and horizontal lifelines, tensioned ropes.

Confined Spaces What is confined training? This course is about working in confined space environments where there is a medium risk that a specified hazard may be present. It will require the use of escape breathing apparatus. It will involve the presence of one or more people – positioned outside the confined space – who
have designated responsibilities for controlling the entry and dealing with emergencies. This course includes competent use of appropriate Confined Space Equipment and practical assessments covering access, egress and safe working practices in Confined Spaces and Hazardous areas.

Decommissioning What Is Decommissioning? Decommissioning is a general term for a formal process to remove something from an active status. IOSH - Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers What Is IOSH? IOSH training courses help people in all sectors stay healthy and safe at work. Two IOSH training courses are available, Working Safely and Managing Safely. The Working Safely course is aimed at all employees and covers the essentials
of health & safety in the workplace. The Managing Safely course is aimed at Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors, and gives them the knowledge and skills to manage health & safety within their teams.

IOSH Managing Safely introduces Managers, at all levels, to the different aspects of managing safety and health in the workplace. It provides the knowledge and understanding to manage the health & safety issues within their responsibilities and reinforces why good health & safety is essential to performing their roles successfully.
Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must ‘work safely’. Working safely is a one-day course for people at any level, in any sector, that need a grounding in health & safety. Ideal for introducing staff to why health & safety is important, working safely shows how everyone can make a difference to their own well being and that of others through everyday behaviours. Fun and interactive, the course focuses on best practice rather than legislation.
The IOSH Managing Safely certificate is targeted at managers in any organisation or sector who are required to manage risk and resources. Areas Covered: • Introducing managing safely • Assessing risks • Controlling risks • Understanding your responsibilities • Identifying hazards • Investigating accidents and incidents • Measuring performance Assessments • A 25 question, multiple choice paper – taken on final day of course. • A risk assessment based project – candidates have 14 days from final day of course to complete and return this for internal assessment.

Who the course is for? Anyone who works on or around a construction site or has cause to visit the site in the course of their work. Remember, it is your responsibility to provide your staff with the training to ensure your site is fully compliant with safety, health and environmental regulations. What the course covers •

NEBOSH - Diploma and Certificate What Is NEBOSH? NEBOSH stands for National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, a UK awarding organisation offering professional qualifications in health, safety and environmental management. The National General Certificate
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Length: 10 Days + 1 Exam Day The NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety training course is a widely recognised qualification for general health and safety responsibilities. The NEBOSH National General Certificate is broken down in to the following units: • •
Unit NG1 Management of Health and Safety Unit NG2 Controlling Workplace Hazards
Who should attend? There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. This qualification is designed for anyone (managers, supervisors and workers) in any type of organisation. It’s ideal for anyone who needs a broad understanding of health and safety issues to be able to manage day-to-day risks effectively. Many people take the National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NGC) as a first step in a career in health and safety. It gives a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.

NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Length: 30 Weeks per year 3 Exam Days plus assignment The Degree level NEBOSH National Diploma is the flagship NEBOSH award and was the first UK vocational qualification to be developed specifically for health and safety professionals. Since its introduction in 1988 it has become established as the most popular qualification of its kind, with over 10,000 students having successfully gained the Diploma. The qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Graduate Membership (Grad IOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). This is the first step to becoming a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner as a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH). It also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) as meeting the academic requirements for full membership (MIIRSM).
Holders of the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety may use the designatory letters “DipNEBOSH� after their name and are invited to the annual NEBOSH Graduation and Awards Ceremony in the year following the successful completion of their award. This course is delivered over two years, one afternoon per week for thirty weeks per year, by our dedicated team from the Redcar and Cleveland College Health and Safety Academy

The NEBOSH National Diploma is the qualification for aspiring health and safety professionals, building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH National General Certificate. It is designed to provide students with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.

NEBOSH - National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management Length: 13 weeks (5 Weeks - Taught Sessions + 8 Weeks - Distance Learning) 1 Exam Day The NEBOSH National Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate provides an appropriate breadth of underpinning knowledge for nonspecialists in fire safety to enable them to discharge more effectively their organisational duties or functions with respect to workplace fire safety. This course is delivered over 13 weeks by a combination of taught sessions and distance learning. NGC 1 is one afternoon/evening per week for 5 weeks followed by 8 weeks of distance learning (FC 1). All elements of the course are delivered by our dedicated team from the Redcar and Cleveland College Health and Safety Academy. Who should attend? This accredited NEBOSH Certificate training course is for managers, supervisors, employee representatives and others. It aims to equip holders to contribute to the conduct and review of fire risk assessments and fire preventive and protective measures within most workplaces.

For learners to understand that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive as being important to maintaining good practice and the safe, prompt and effective treatment of ill health in the work place.
To update candidates existing knowledge learnt whilst on the 3 day First Aid at Work course. Candidates must have taken this course 3 years previously in order to sit the refresher training. e.
Who should take the first aid at work training? The award in First Aid at Work is aimed at those who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. Areas Covered: Topics covered include: the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis. This course now also covers the use of AED.
