A man entered a local newspaper's pun contest. He sent in ten different puns, hoping that at least one of the puns would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.

The small-town policeman pulled up next to a man who was unloading rubbish out of his van into a ditch. "Why are you dumping that rubbish?" the policeman asked. "Didn't you see the sign?" "Sure," the man replied, puzzled at the policeman's reaction. "That's why I picked this spot. It says, 'Fine for dumping rubbish.'"
