We aim to help older people to continue living independent and active lives as part of a small, like-minded community within the wider community, while at the same time benefiting from the care and support of an experienced and dedicated team of nursing and care staff. We invite you to explore our website, where we tell you more about Walberton and the people who work here – but there is no substitute for seeing for yourself, so we invite you to contact us and arrange a visit.
About Walberton Walberton is a care home providing facilities to accommodate residential elderly and nursing service users, offering both short and long-stay accommodation, as well as respite and day care. We are located on Yapton Lane, on the southernmost slopes of the South Downs, just minutes from the A27 which provides a quick route to nearby towns such as Chichester, Bognor Regis, Brighton and Littlehampton.
Walberton is a quaint building full of character, but also provides space, comfort and modern convenience, while furnished to feel “just like home”. Corridors are wide to facilitate wheelchair access and the home has ramps to ensure it is wholly disabled friendly. We have 34 rooms, all decorated and furnished to a very high standard and each one with its own en-suite as well as 24-hour nurse call system, and TV and telephone points. Each room allows residents the choice of privacy, while we also have a lounge area, a delightful dining room as well as gardening and vegetable growing areas. Walberton is surrounded by beautiful grounds both to the front and to the rear of the building, while there’s also ample parking for visiting family and friends.

Life at Walberton
Focus on Quality
Life at Walberton is all about ensuring our service users feel comfortable, feel cared for and feel involved. Activity and participation is encouraged, but privacy and individuality is respected. Meals are taken “as a family”. A healthy diet is ensured thanks to “home-cooked”, nutritionally-balanced foods and we are happy to take into account special dietary requirements. Every effort is made to help our service users retain links with the community, family and friends. Group social outings take place on a regular basis, including trips to the seaside. As well as regular GP visits, we arrange regular visits from dentists, opticians, hairdressers and therapists, as well as the library service and local priest. We also provide a personal laundry service. Entertainment is organised by the Centre’s Activities Co-ordinator, and ranges from discussions, music and arts and crafts to an annual dog show. Service users are also helped to continue hobbies and develop new interests.
Walberton Care Home is focused on providing the highest standards of care to meet each service user’s individual needs. To achieve this, it is committed to giving staff the training and support that will help them reach their personal development goals, while keeping the needs of service users at the heart of that training. Each service user has an individual care plan which is discussed and compiled with them, their family and, where appropriate, their doctor, and which is the basis for a daily care programme. This person-centred approach takes account of health care needs, medication, therapeutic requirements, as well as preferred routines, social interests, likes and dislikes, ensuring your specific needs are catered for. Each service user is allocated a key worker, while our trained nurses monitor and review care plans on an ongoing basis. The Centre Manager operates an open-door policy and encourages communication and relationship building with all members of the care team, servicer users and their relatives.
The Walberton Commitment At Walberton, we aim to provide a high quality caring environment, not just in the eyes of the regulatory bodies that audit and evaluate the services we provide, but more importantly in the hearts and minds of the customers who use them - our service users. They are, and always will be, our first and most important priority. All service users are assured that they will
be treated with respect and dignity according to their individual needs and wishes. Walberton operates a strong diversity policy in respect of residents and is committed to ensuring no one is excluded on the ground of their ethnicity, religion or culture. We want service users to have the freedom to live their preferred lifestyle, with the choice of independence or participation, individuality or community. Our aim is to provide a level of care and support that meets the needs of the whole person, and by that we mean the physical, psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing of the service user we care for. But above all, we aim to do all this in a safe, comfortable and homely environment.
Our care pledge: ● To offer skilled care to help service users achieve your optimum state of health and wellbeing ● To treat service users, their visitors, relatives and friends with dignity and respect ● To uphold the human and citizenship rights of all who live, work and visit here ● To support individual rights to choice and personal decision-making ● To respect individual requirements for privacy at all times and to treat all information relating to individuals in a confidential manner ● To recognise individual needs for personal fulfilment and to provide you with individualised programmes of meaningful activity
