Day of Pentecost
Pastor Jonathan Trapp, preachingThe theme of the Day: Pentecost derives its name from the Jewish festival celebrating the harvest and the giving of the law on Mount Sinai fifty days after Passover. Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Holy Spirit as God’s presence within and among us In Acts the Spirit arrives in rushing wind and flame, bringing God’s presence to all people. Paul reminds us that though we each have different capacities, we are unified in the Spirit that equips us with these gifts. Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit on his disciples, empowering them to forgive sin We celebrate that we too are given the breath of the Holy Spirit and sent out to proclaim God’s redeeming love to all the world

In Killers of the Dream (1949), her most influential book, she draws on memories of her childhood to describe the psychological and moral cost of the powerful, contradictory rules about sin, sex, and segregation the intricate system of taboos that undergirded Southern society

MAC Food Drive
First a big thank you to all who supported the MAC 5K last Saturday. Redeemer tied with All Saints for most participants with 16 people who signed up for the race. The MAC Food Drive for Redeemer is well underway May is when the need really increases since families with school getting out Children are not receiving free meals at school and that can put increased burdens on already tight budgets. There are two bins on opposite sides of the Sims Atrium where food can be dropped off and then taken to MAC There will be flyers in the Sims Atrium beside the bins. Redeemer has always been very generous in their giving to our neighbors in need and the need is even greater due to the increasing cost of living If you have any questions about the food drive. Please feel free to contact Richard Mauney at 404-775-3359 or richardemauney@gmail.com. Any support you can provide to MAC would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
