Welcome “There will always be that realisation that tells you; there are things you should have not known, should haven't done, should haven't asked for nor searched for. However what’s done is done. Life will always continue. The feeling of hurt, rejection, pain and sorrow is nothing but the reflection of our negative reaction. When we positively react to either bad or good, we unconsciously better our tomorrow and actually extend our future. To worry about something doesn’t change what’s done, it extends the pain but to worry less and do what you can do to change the situation is a higher preferable form of worry; which is concern. Rumi once said "Let your heart be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love, it will not lead you astray." We say "if ever it led you astray at least you had followed your heart, not your friends nor things. Do what you can, with what you have and stop beating yourself about what already happened. These things take time. Love what is in your heart; occupy your mind with a positive structure of culture and you will live longer.”

Pass Over ‘Easter’ is the time of the year where C h r i s t i a n s u n i t e t o C E L E B R AT E t h e crucifixion, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a time of the year where we remember how much God loves us. We remember that He gave His only begotten Son to us. It’s hard to understand this, especially for parents to understand this. Would you give up your child’s life to save another? Can you honestly say that you would make a sacrifice like that? Yet, Almighty God DID IT! And why? He did it because He wanted to be reunited with us, His children, and not to be separated from us by sin. Yes, God loves us THAT much.
“ E a s t e r ” should, in its proper sense, be renamed “Passover.” Why? God passed over the “blood-washed” chosen ones in judgement of people who did not follow Christianity, thus restoring the holy week and its celebration of God’s original plan for His people, the Jews and Christians, as stated in Exodus, chapter 12. The holy week propagated Passover into a passionate commemoration of what God has done for us through His only begotten Son (John 3:16).
It begins with Palm Sunday, celebrating Christ’s entry into Jerusalem and culminates 7 days later, with the jubilation of our Lord’s glorious resurrection from death. This is the most significant festival of the Christian calendar. It is the central event of our faith! It serves as a replacement of the Biblical Passover and day of unleavened bread which culminates in the fulfillment of the law. A parallel of the Jewish Passover Observance: The physical redemption from the bondage in Egypt which is replaced by the spiritual redemption from bondage of sin through the sacrifice of Christ. In the book of Hebrews, John saw Jesus chapter 10 (verse 4), it is stated that the sacrificial killing of animals could coming toward him not ultimately take away sin. We awaited the atonement of Christ who and said, “Look, the offered the one sacrifice that would be accepted by our just God, Lamb of God, who replacing the Jewish takes away the sin sacrificial system.
of the world!” John 1:29
Christ died and shed His precious blood once for all sin, for all time and for all of mankind who accepts and believes in Him. So, God passes over the chosen ones in Christ Jesus and deals with the atheists and cults who turned His sacrifice of His only Son into a mockery of colourful eggs, chocolate bunnies and hot cross buns! Easter is originally a Saxon

EASTER! “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never ever die.” John 11:25-26
word “edstre” which is a celebration honouring the fertility goddess of the Germans whose sacrifices were offered around this time. It was a week of celebration directly following Passover. The word “Easter” appears once in the KJV Bible with a Pagan connotation in Acts12:4. Whereas Passover (Pascha- A Latin translation of the Hebrew word “Pesah”) appears 26 times in the 4 gospels and twice in Paul’s epistles.
The Lord’s Supper The ordinance of the Lord’s supper was instituted by Jesus Himself. For I received from the Lord what I also passed onto you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Jesus specifically said “do this in remembrance of Me,” so during this time we remember Christ in our communion fellowship of breaking bread and drinking wine by remembering what He did and why He did it. Why should we do Holy Communion on a regular basis? 1. Holy Communion is a visible representation of the gospel and the death of Jesus for our sins. 2. It proclaims the Lord’s death until He returns (1 Corinthians 11:26), reminding us of the glorious hope of Christ’s return. 3. It strengthens our faith through fellowship with Christ and with other believers. 4. It reminds us that death, our last enemy, has been defeated at the cross of Calvary. 5. Participating in Holy Communion brings healing and breakthroughs! Every time we break bread, we put Satan to shame. It reminds him of Christ’s victory on Calvary... Hallelujah! Let us celebrate Passover!

The life of Kamiel Sunitha Parmanand, Newlands, Durban
The Goodness of my God still leaves me breathless as I reflect on the love that he has bathed my family and I in over the past 16 years. It was the year of 1997 when I was blessed with my beautiful gift from God. My third child, Kamiel, had entered our lives, bringing along with him a whole new world of parenting and faith-living which we were about to dive into head first. Little did I know just how much faith was to be required of me! Kamiel was born like most “normal” babies, struggling with colic just as my other two babies had. However as time flew by, Kamiel began to get increasingly ill. Out of desperation for my child I took him to a specialist that, after tests, told me that my baby had a hole in his heart and a deformed kidney (his left kidney being much longer than his right). Overwhelmed by shock and emotionally shook up… All that I could do was to put all my trust completely in God to heal my child. (1 Corinthians 2:5 “ …that your faith might not rest in human wisdom (human philosophy), but in the power of God.”) I began to shift my trust from man and his knowledge, to God and His power. Kamiel had to undergo two years of treatment, which, of course, stripped me emotionally. It is no easy time on any mother to watch as her young baby suffers from an illness which is totally out of her hands. There were times when we truly believed that Kamiel would not make it. It is all glory to God, that by the third year we had the good news we had stood in faith for! Kamiel’s kidney had grown into its rightful size and the hole in his heart had grown shut- an absolute miracle by a God of power! This miracle gave us the grace to suddenly accept our next challenge in Kamiel’s life. Kamiel was uncommonly slow. He was simply not on the same level of growth and maturity as that of the toddlers his age. He never spoke and had to be assisted with everything, just as if he were still little. When Kamiel was 4 years old I became increasingly concerned about him. At the age of 5, it was now time to enroll him into school. Yet he still did not speak or feed himself, he STILL had to be supported with everything by his kind teachers.
9
He would use his hands to indicate what he wanted or needed rather because he could not speak. In this time, I continued to fast and pray for my son, trusting that God is always faithful. (James 1:3 “Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith brings out endurance, steadfastness and patience.”) I was given the number of a family friend who performed IQ tests on children. Kamiel’s results were not of his age, which explained why his behavior did not match that of children his age. He would often block his ears and remain to himself in school. Already in Grade 1, Kamiel could not grasp or understand what was required of him by the teachers, he could not read, write or even grip a pencil. It came to a head when we were sent to Pinetown to perform further assessments to find out what it was that was holding Kamiel back from “normal” growth. We were told that my baby was autistic. (Autism is a mental condition, which is noticeable in the early stages of childhood. Autism is typically related to great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships). I refused to allow my faith to buckle, now that we had this diagnosis, I continued to hold onto the fact that Kamiel is God’s child and that He always wants what is best for His children. We held steadfast in hoping for his healing. Kamiel is now living proof that My God is faithful! After 7 years of contending and battling with keeping our faith steady in Jesus… Kamiel is healed! Although his healing took 7 years, it has put my faith through the fire, refining it. Today, Kamiel is a healthy young man who speaks, writes, works and can repair any electrical device you place before him. His memory is incredible! He is now doing a course in electrical engineering and he dreams to one day run his own factory! Recently Kamiel and his brother were involved in a serious car accident. And once again, our God was faithful in saving both my sons AND He even replaced my vehicle! Kamiel had broken his hand in the accident and damaged the nerves in his hand. The doctors were adamant that Kamiel would never use his hand again. But nothing is ever impossible for God (as I have learnt in my faith-journey)! He now has full use of his hands and is back at college pursuing his dreams.
In a nutshell: “When God is for us, then who can be against us?” Romans 8

GOSSIP
“A gossip betrays confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret” (Proverbs 11:13).
We’ve all been victim to gossip at some point in our lives. With old friends and new, the minute they’re provoked, all secrets come tumbling out... A few days later a very twisted truth comes to your ear and you’re left feeling crushed and insecure. Yet... We think nothing of doing the same to another person. It has become second nature to smi le at your best friend and stab them in the back the next second by
betraying all their secrets and proving yourself to be disloyal. The Bible specifically speaks about gossip. When you gossip you are judging others. “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:1-3). What other people do in their private time is their own business. It is between them and God. Why do you wish to get involved and bring sin upon yourself? It is none of your business!
“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech” (1 Peter 3:10).

When something good is about to happen, people often choose not to speak about it, fearing they may “jinx” it. This itself is a n e g a t i ve a p p ro a c h t o anything. We should not be ashamed to talk about our hopes and dreams. When we speak about it, we begin to believe it and our belief and hope gives life to our dream. When we choose not to talk about things for fear that we may “jinx” it we are firstly acting without faith- faith that God will give us our dreams... Our hearts desires, and secondly we are not speaking life into our dream. We are not believing.
W h a t does this all mean? The use of the tongue (the spoken word) can
determine whether the future is good or bad. Life and death are two opposite extremities. One brings around prosperity and blessings while the other brings sorrow and heartache. Your tongue (your words) has the cap a c i t y t o do great things. It can build someone up or tear someone down. If you were brought up in a home where someone constantly told you that “you weren’t good enough” or “you’d grow up to be nothing,” then you would most likely begin to believe it and unfortunately majority of the time those thoughtless words begin to materialise in one’s life. That is an example of speaking death into someone’s life. It was spoken and it was believed, and so those words had power! However, if you grew up in a home where you always
had someone to encourage you and give you words of hope and LIFE, then the outcome of your life would be dramatically different. It costs nothing to speak positively to others. If you do not have something nice to say then do not say anything at all- this is an old cliched saying but it is completely true and full of wisdom. “Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues” (Proverbs 17:28).
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell (James 3:6).

ISRAEL:
10 Reasons why you SHOULD!
With its beautiful beaches and historic land, Israel should definitely be the next destination for your family holiday. It may be one of the smaller countries but with its beautiful beaches and cultural vibes, there’s a 99% chance that you won’t even notice its size. It is proof that dynamite truly does come in small packages! 1.C h r i s t i a n s are always looking for a way to become more intimate with their Bibles. A visit to Israel is definitely a good start for this. The Bible becomes a lot more real once you can visit the place where Abraham walked, Joshua battled and David had ruled. Jesus lived, died and was resurrected here. For Christians everywhere, this should be one of the first places you visit! The Middle East desperately needs our prayer. A visit to Israel will help you to understand the conflicts between the Arabs and Jews, allowing you and convicting you to pray harder for them than ever before. A trip to Israel will greatly increase your faith. Israel is proof that God does exist because you can directly see the hand of God with the success of the land. It is a country with limited resources and is also almost always under the threat of war but the country still manages to thrive and not just survive, but be a success too. Feel renewed- The entire family will return feeling renewed and full of new wine in new wineskin, the spiritual energy is an attraction itself. Experience the “God energy.” Israel hosts the Dead Sea, which has the saltiest body of water on earth. It has great health benefits like encouraging blood circulation, calming down the nervous system and reducing stress. Visit Tel Aviv, where sophistication meets relaxation. The city is known for its culinary and cultural scene with beautiful, clean beaches running along the perimeter of the city, Tel Aviv manages to provide absolute tranquility for visitors everywhere. Go bizarre at the Bazaar! The Bazaar is a market in Jerusalem where you can purchase souvenirs and gifts for friends and family. Again the vibe is crazy with its crazy bargains and larger than life shopkeepers. Israel has a rare combination of ancient history and contemporary city. This does not just appeal to Mom and Dad who are searching for an archeological and intellectual

holiday but it also appeals to the daughter that wants to shop until she drops and the son who wants to r e l a x somewhere new and awesome. 8. V i s i t t h e Church of the H o l y Sepulchre which is believed to be the place of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection. It is one of the most Holy sites any Christian could ask for. Not only is it spiritually relevant but the interior of the church is an attraction of its own. Exquisite. 9. This is one of the most important things for any holiday- Food. Due to many immigrants settling in beautiful Israel, the country has a unique culinary landscape. There is only one word that can describe the food in Israel: DELICIOUS. 10.You don’t need any more motivation. Jerusalem is a great base for your visit to Israel. It is convenient for day trips to holy cities Bethlehem and Nazareth. We strongly encourage everybody to start saving up for a visit to Israel- it will be worth it!

THE GREATEST LOVE
Easter has become somewhat controversial as people have moved away from the cross of Calvary and placed their focus on the Easter Bunny. Children are not taught about God’s sacrifice by giving His only Son so that we may be saved, instead Easter has become about nothing more than beautifully wrapped and cleverly shaped hollow chocolate eggs. The children of tomorrow should know about Jesus first, before Santa Clause, before the Easter Bunny. The love God has demonstrated exceeds
MATTHEW 28: 19-20
15
E V E RY T H I N G a n d s h o u l d b e remembered during this time. Nothing can or ever will be able to compare to the love that God has demonstrated to us. Time is spent enjoying magic shows and looking for something magical- we look for Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny because we seek magic, but there is nothing in the world that is more magical than the love of the Father. He sacrificed His blameless and sinless Love (Jesus) to be reunited with us. He did this so that we may have a relationship with our Father
and truly call ourselves Children of God.

The Impact of Exercise The Problem Today Cars, computers, television, w a s h i n g m a c h i n e s , tumble dryers, d i s h wa s h e r s . . . Ye s , these machines are wonderful and have made our lives considerably easier but the downfall of this is that we no longer do our basic activities whic h keep us moving. We no longer have to walk 2 kilometres to buy bread and milk, we now have the convenience of cars to take us back and forth. This is indeed a blessing, however, most people don’t take ANY walks for any reasons, being 100% dependent on the convenience of their cars. Technology has had a marvelous impact on the world but now we are even exposed to the comforts of fully automated homes... Taking over basic chores like opening and closing curtains! Yes, it is amazing that we have such intriguing technology a n d convenience at our fingertips but it is also q u i t e frightening to think that over 80% of our routine
“exercise” ( from our da ily chores) is being eliminated as a result of our dependence on technology. Many people, especially teenagers and young adults, are being diagnosed with depression. Doctors are handing over all sorts of happy pills with extreme side effects but what most people fail to recognise is that there is something readily available to all- for freeEXERCISE. It is quite unusual to come by someone that exercises regularly and suffers with depression (unless there is a more serious matter being dealt with). You may ask why? Well, when you exercise, your body releases a “feel good” hormone called seratonin. Seratonin is known for suppressing pain perception, sexual behavior and for those who are keen to lose weight, you will be glad to know that it also reduces your appetite. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease... None are as deadly as the silent killer of inactivity. Every family should sit down and think long and hard about how to get a more active lifestyle. Research shows that many adults spend more than 7 hours sitting down, this is spent either at work, driving or just general leisure. Let us not forget about the time spent just sleeping! So one must be honest and ask themselves:
Just how active am I? A good suggestion is taking up a family sport. It does not have to be endless and tiresome nor does it have to be expensive. Start with once a week- walking around the block, running (you can have little races with your children), swimming, etc. This is a great idea, not just to join a healthy and active lifestyle but to also bond your family and spend quality time away from the television, phone, computer, etc. Many people are looking for fast results to shed unwanted weight. Money is splurged on diet pills, shakes, teas, etc, but all of it misses the key ingredient... That’s right! Exercise! You might find a wonderful weight loss pill or shake but do you ever stop to think about the effect that it is having on your heart? Exercise is the only thing that can help in this regard. It is time to stop being lazy. You did the crime (with your u n h e a l t hy lifestyle) and now you need to do the time. E x e r c i s e because you love yourself and want to take care of your body.

On the Edge of the Cliff Grace Baruth, Newlands, Durban
I have a newfound respect for eagles. The way in which they are forced to stare off a sheer precipice and then are nudged off the cliff by their parents is frightening… Yet this is how they learn to fly.
My son, Ashlen, was a mere 5 years old when he suddenly fell ill. He began vomiting a lot of green puke, which alarmed my husband and I incredibly. Once the doctor examined Ashlen, we were informed that he was suffering from “Salmonella” food poisoning (this is a bacterial infection which is contracted when different ingredients, such as poultry and unprocessed milk are mixed or prepared on the same surface). This poisoning was ravaging Ashlen’s body and he began to have uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting. Within 5 days Ashlen was placed into an induced coma. Being pregnant with my daughter at the time, I was unable to be at my son’s bed in the ICU as I too may have fallen prone to the infection, bringing danger to my unborn child. The doctor, at this time, called my husband and I into his office where he disclosed to us that Ashlen was in such an incredibly critical state that he had lost his senses. After Ashlen had been in a coma for 10 days, the doctor suggested that we return home and begin to prepare for his funeral. Being in such a place of uncertainty for my son’s life left us drained and in a place in which we found praying and praising God grueling. This was our greatest test of faith yet. My motherly instinct to care and protect my son as he began to wear thin after many days of regression in his health. I decided to let go of the reigns and place Ashlen in God’s hands. It was at this point of surrender that Ashlen’s miracle began to take root, although I could not see it. Around this time I had been asked to minister in another church. They had no idea of what I had been through over the previous 2 weeks. However, I was worn through and felt I couldn’t simply sit at home (as I was unable to be in the room with my son) and worry any longer. I felt as if I had already given up on Ashlen’s full recovery, yet I decided to go along to the church and minister to others there.
17
The congregation sat in astonishment as I began to share my husband and my ordeal over the previous days. I then asked them to stand in agreement with me that Jesus would intervene and save my son, as, by this time Ashlen was “too far gone” for any human effort to reach out to him. As we pressed on in fervent prayer I began to feel a peace in my heart. It was the kind of peace you feel when you let go... I believed that God was about to take my son Home to Him. Upon our return to the hospital, to our utter shock and amazement, the doctors announced to us that his organs where beginning to revive themselves! Ashlen had been on a life support machine as all his organs had shut down (the Salmonella bacteria attacks ones stomach, intestines and ultimately the blood), the doctors had been explaining to us over a few days that there was now nothing they could do further to help him. Yet now they stood in our faces announcing that our son had come back to life! Over the following 5 days Ashlen’s heart began to beat by itself again, he could open his eyes and he was taken out of ICU. Ashlen was 5 then and now he is a healthy and robust 17 year old bearing testament to God’s power and love. Ashlen is “our” walking miracle! The weight of this testament is to not give up! Unfortunately we often give up just before the breaking point of the miracle we are contending for. We often forget that we are in a Spiritual battle. Just as it is always darkest before the sun rises (Son rises to our aid), so our battle will always seem to get worse before it crumbles under the intensity of the goodness of our King. Just as we are about to splat to the ground far below, after desperate attempts to fly and eventually giving up all together, our Father glides beneath us and catches us taking us to safety. Jesus has renewed my Spirit, just as He turns all things into good for those who are called according to His purposes (Romans 8:28), so he used Ashlen’s life to encourage me. To strengthen my faith in Him. It gave me strength to fly the next time I am nudged off a cliff because I know He will catch me … even if it’s at the last minute! Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Pursued By The King Part 2
Fathima’s*  journey  continues! My journey from Islam to Christianity has indeed been intense. Especially since I had never looked to Jesus for anything. I had always considered Allah to be my father. The King, however, pursued me, His love being relentless, knowing no boundaries, He called out to me. Me! An absolute nobody. He kept reaching out to me, enveloping me in His love... His grace. Finally on the 23 March 2003, I gave in. I gave my life to Jesus.
Overport, Durban
Qurans into a case and gave it to my neighbour, who gave me a confused look in return. I could truly feel that I was a born-again Christian.
23 March 2003, after uttering one simple prayer with the pastor, I returned home feeling like a new woman and ready for anything. I was excited about what the world had to offer now even though I didn’t really know a ny t h i n g a b o u t b e i n g a Christian yet.
The few days that followed were full of more enjoyment than the next and I knew that I had done the right thing... However, I sometimes found myself wondering about what I had actually done. I kept asking myself why I had done this. My whole family is Islamic and I was brought up this way all my life. I kept wondering what I would tell my family.
I heard a voice like I had never heard before. It said to me “remove everything in your house that isn’t of Me. I gladly obliged, knowing that it was the voice of God. I scrubbed down every wall in my house, cleaned every carpet and packed all my
I decided that I needed to see the pastor for some advice. “I know where you are coming from, she said, “you need not be more than a s i l e n t b e l i e v e r. S h e provided me with a Bible and I proceeded to read it as much as I could. I couldn’t
help but still feel anxious about my future with this new God. I needed to know that I had made the right decision. So, for the next few weeks I made it my duty to attend the evening church services. I had still not told my family about my conversion to Christianity. I would sit quietly in the c h u rc h a n d o b s e r v e a s people sang their praises to the Lord. I had never seen people worship in such an awesome manner and I thoroughly enjoyed church. The joyful songs would ring clearly in my head as I got home and it was then that I simply would not be able to resist my urges to rejoice! A few months passed by and it was finally my first birthday as a Christian. Unbeknownst to me, there was a surprise birthday party being held for me at my mother in laws home while I was at church. My whole family was invited. My husband hurried to the church when he found out, to tell me that my family was wondering where I was... I

figured that what they didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them. “I have to stay here,” I told him, “I have committed myself to this and I need to find out who God truly is.” So there I stayed. While my family was waiting for me, my father went out to get some last minute items from the local store but on his way he noticed a car that resembled mine, parked at the church. So he drove into the parking lot, wanting to make sure that it was not mine... Unfortunately for him, he found that it was definitely my car. He headed into the church to find out exactly what it was that I was up to... Never before had I raised my hands up in the church but that evening I threw my hands into the air, ready to ask God for His help and ready to receive His blessings. “Please help me through my process of telling my family that I now serve You. I don’t know what is going to happen when I tell them,” I said. It was at that my moment that my father walked through the church
doors and saw me with my arms raised, praising Jesus. He didn’t say anything to me, he just walked out of the church and drove back to my mother in law’s house. He gathered the family and told everyone that there would no longer be a party and that they were to have nothing to do with me as I h a d forsaken their way of life. He insisted t h a t everyone m u s t completely cut all ties with me. My family immediately left my in law’s home as per his instruction. When I eventually came home, my husband told me what had happened. To say that I was devastated would be a serious understatement. I felt a constant, agonising pain in my heart as I finally realised that my parents and family who I had loved so dearly, throughout my life, suddenly sought to deliberately exclude me from their lives. I was worried that I was going to lose my parents. My mother, h o w e v e r, w a s m o r e sympathetic to my plight and after a lot of begging, we
were eventually able to arrange meetings with each other every Friday, when everyone else had gone to the mosque to pray. We s p o ke l i ke n o t h i n g h a d changed, I felt like I was her little girl again. She would never judge me for the decisions that I had made and she was always so happy to see me but I could tell that she was also worried that my family may find out. I carried on going to church as usual and I would sing and rejoice like there was no tomorrow. In my life, most things were falling into place. Church was a place where I truly felt at home, I felt like I belonged but once I got home, the part of my heart which held my family wo u l d c o n t i n u e t o f e e l empty. As long as I was not in church, I would not have peace of mind. My journey with God thus far had had its highs and lows but I was sure that this was right for me. In July 2003, I discovered that I had fallen pregnant and decided that it was time for me to follow my first vision that the Lord had given me: To get baptised and continue my holy adventure.

Praying Hands Christians Unite! “For when two or three gather in My name, there I am with them.” Matthew 18:20
There are so many things currently happening around usbig life changing things that can change our lives and lifestyles dramatically. Change can often bring about the feeling of fear but as the Bible says “when God is for us then who can stand against us?” People need to unite in their prayers, not just praying for themselves but praying for the nations... Praying
for the world. We encourage all to pray for 3 specific things this Easter. 1. Pray for the churches of South Africa to be set on fire for God: Father, we pray that You will set all churches ablaze and all nations will be blessed and see Your glory, the churches will be able to bless the poor and needy thanks to your supernatural provision, in Jesus’ name, Amen. 2. Pray for rest and peace during the upcoming elections: Father, we thank You that You have
appointed someone to take this country to new heights, we thank You that the person you have chosen will do things that uplift and help the needy thanks to Your grace, glory and power in Jesus’ name, Amen. 3. Pray for the weather and climate change that is affecting everyone: We thank You Father that You have mercy on us and that you have promised never to flood the earth again. We thank You for Your mercies over us and that you keep us safe in all that we do, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Cross, The Empty Tomb and Salvation
It was about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit.” When He had said this, He breathed His last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “surely this was a righteous man.” Luke 23:44-47 In my Father’s house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare place for you.
What is the significance of this? When Christ was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing (Galatians 3:13). It’s difficult to comprehend the love Jesus has for us when you try to remember something that happened over 2000 years ago, but think about someone that you love dearly... When they are sick, wouldn’t you do ANYTHING to make them feel better?
Not only did the crucifixion of Jesus heal us, it was also a promise that we would never be sick again, it was a promise that we are forgiven, that we can have peace and that we are loved by God, and through Jesus, we can call ourselves children of God. “He is not here, for He has risen, as He said. Come see the place where He lay” (Matthew 28:6). Why is there an empty tomb? God is showing us that, through His Son, we can also have life after death. Jesus is our example. He has risen and we will also follow in His footsteps. “Let not your h e a r t b e t ro u b l e d ; yo u believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3). We know that Jesus has risen and that His tomb is empty... We also know where He went. We know that Jesus has gone to heaven to prepare a place for us, so it is easy for us to understand that through death in the natural, we can live an eternal life with Jesus. What is salvation? Salvation happens when you released from sin. You are saved from God’s anger and judgement. Salvation is a gift from God. It cannot be bought. We have salvation by His grace. It is a way in which we die to our old, sinful selves and are new creations in Him.
“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31

Dear Jesus I prayed for a job and when I had gone for the interview I was immediately offered the position. Already, within the first week of starting work, my boss has made me a team leader. I am brand new to this position and field. I have no knowledge or skill but I am relying on God for wisdom and understanding. I see God’s goodness and grace daily in my life. I am able to do everything through His wisdom. His strength is made perfect in my weakness. Roanneleigh Govindasamy
Growing up, I've been on the wrong path, thinking the wrong way, doing the wrong things and joining the wrong people. As I’ve gotten older, I've come to know Christ and ever since there’s been a calm peace that has entered me. Through His teachings, I knew I had to get rid of my old ways, so I threw everything away, books, jewellery, music... I bought a Bible instead. Here I am months later and I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for cleansing me and setting me on my feet and covering me with Himself. Thank you Lord Jesus. There are many people out there, just like me. They are young and very well educated as far as the world's standards go. They are wise in evil and their foolish hearts want only to discover themselves. When I was in the occult, I had a low self esteem and it made me feel special and chosen. There was power and control over myself, yet I was always depressed. I was always empty inside. Always looking for something and never finding it. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for delivering me from the power of Satan. Life is not easy. This is a battlefield, thank God, it's not our home. Now, when misery comes, and I assure you it does, I remember I am nothing. Christ is everything. I am dead to my old self but alive in Christ. Rivonia Murugan

God has blessed us with a variety of herbs in nature that works in harmony with our body, to bring it into balance and to heal and maintain it with perfect health. Turmeric is one of the wonder herbs that has phenomenal results on various health issues. It has been used for centuries by the ancient Indian culture. It has been used in food for flavoring and colouring, cosmetics and for medical purposes. This is also known as a spice and has almost no calories, it has zero cholesterol and is rich in nutrients. Its active ingredient, curcumin, has been researched extensively proving to be highly therapeutic, it is also known to boost the immune system. Doctor Joseph Mercola states that it is 5 to 8 times stronger than vitamin E and stronger than vitamin C when used as an antioxidant
and it may help boost your immunity and maintain normal cholesterol and antiaging. Curcumin in low doses is also beneficial in arthritis, allergies, asthma, atherosclerosis, heart disease, alzheimer’s disease, diabetes and cancer. Curcumin also protects the liver against certain liver diseases. Since curcumin assists the l i ve r, i t a l s o a s s i s t s b y preventing two types of diabetes in people who have pre-diabetes. However, the side effects are: 1. Use turmeric with caution when pregnant 2. Can make gall bladder and gastroesophageal reflux disorder; worse. 3. Turmeric can slow blood clotting and may cause extra bleeding during and after surgery therefore recommended not to be
taken too close to and after surgery. Turmeric can also be used externally on the skin. Due to its amazing results, it has been used as a pre-wedding preparation for both the bride and the groom in the Indian culture, leaving a cleansed even skin tone to both the bride and the groom. So it can also be applied to acne prone skin as well as taken internally to leave the skin healthy, due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can also be applied to wounds and on your pets. As a tonic, a teaspoon of organic turmeric twice daily can be immensely beneficial for anti-inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, joint pain, injuries, etc. Used in a tablet or capsule form, from reputable companies that supply good quality products, to treat tumors known as anti-tumor properties. Tu r m e r i c i s a n a n t i inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-flatulent and antioxidant, anticorcinogenic and antitumor. Essential fatty acids also play a major role in our healthy diet. Everyone needs their omegas (EFA), an omega 3 more than an omega 6 and
Olive oil taken regularly is also excellent – organic and cold pressed. Extra virgin coconut oil is also beneficial in various ways to the body. It assists with alzheimer’s disease (1 teaspoon twice daily) and elimination of candida. It can also be used to cook with but not deep fry and used as an alternative to spread over toast or into a health drink.

Hydrogenated vegetable oils are a huge health risk. Opt for cold pressed organic or grape-seed oil or virgin organic coconut oil. These oils are good tasting and beneficial to our health. Oils that are processed and cannot be extracted by just pressing or separating naturally are questionable and are not as healthy as they are marketed to be. Margarine is an example. Butter is the healthiest option but in absolute moderation.
omega 9. Omegas can be from a plant source e.g. Flax seed oil (organic preferably), coconut oil or olive oil. An alternate source is fish oil of good quality, free from metal toxins e.g. mercury. When choosing a good omega supplement consider and compare the EPA/DHA levels in different brands. They need to be high levels. 1000mg of fish oil does not mean best quality. The levels of EPA/DHA determine the quality of the omega as well as the source of the fish oil. Flax seed oil works for many people especially in men, known for preventing prostate cancer.
B
temperatures. Oils should not be heated at maximum temperatures on the controls of stoves. Oils become unstable at high temperatures making them dangerous for our bodies. High temperatures cause them to become carcinogenic. Olive oil is one of the popular oils used for cooking but is best and stable when not used to braise or fry foods in, but to be drizzled onto food.

GADGETS The Biographical Bible This insightful book is by Ruth Tucker. Yes, it is based on our most loved book- the Bible. It teaches, in great detail, about everyone in the Bible. It covers all detail about the prophets, teaching how God has spoken to His people in the past and will continue speaking to His people. Want to know MORE about your Bible? This is a good place to begin! The Adversary The battle is on! We may not see it but very often we feel it. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12. We are involved in the battle whether we like it or not. The Adversary is a practical handbook with the fundamentals of spiritual warfare. Learn about your victory over Satan in this wonderful book by Mark Bubeck.
We Are Young And Free Hillsong provides us with yet another upbeat and spiritfilled gospel album. All the songs are spectacular- well written, sung beautifully and what we can only call “inspired by God.” The album is catchy and don’t be surprised if you find your non-Christian friends and family singing along!

ROUTINE
R
RECYCLING Let’s see why recycling is so fundamentally important: As Christians, our goal in life should be to positively impact the world. Yes, preaching the word of God is incredibly important but it does not start there. It starts with our stewardship. God has given us stewardship over the earth (Genesis 1:26), we should star t positively impacting the earth by doing small things to protect and preserve the environment- like recycle. We do not have to go all out and become activists to make a difference. Recycling begins with you, it can start in the smallest way: By introducing it to
our daily routine. The following three tips are bound to make a difference. You may think that it is small but you can start by being the change you want to see: 1. Start separating your waste: Glass, paper,
35
cans, plastic. This makes a big difference. Aluminium (used for canned drinks and canned food) can be repeatedly recycled, as well as glass, paper and plastic. By recycling these you are not just saving resources but also saving energy. 2. This can become one of the most bothersome ones: Packets. Get into the habit of keeping packets in your car and at least one packet in your handbag. Storing p a c ke t s a t h o m e i s useless. Remember: REDUCE, REUSE and recycle. This will save you money (reduce) AND prevent you from wasting packets and harming the environment (reuse). 3. Reduce paper waste by requesting your bills to be emailed to you instead of being posted. This saves the paper that your bills are printed on and it saves the envelope that it would be sent in. Not only does this save paper but now you will a l s o a l w ay s h a v e a record of all your bills on your email. Remember to set your printer to print on both
3 Things you did not know:
1. Over 75% of waste is recyclable, yet we only recycle 30%. 2. In 2009, Americans generated enough trash to circle the earth 24 times! 3. Every ton of paper recycled saves 1678 kg’s of lumber and 90 849l of water.
sides of the paper and buy recycled paper whenever possible.
S SU JE K S ID
In The Beginning God, who is the Creator of everything, created everything that we know and love in 7 days. From the morning to the night, to the beautiful birds which take flight, God created it all On day 1, God said, “let there be light” and light was created. God divided the light and the darkness and called the light ‘day’ and He called the darkness ‘night.’ On day 2, God created the sky for the clouds to float. God made the sky big and beautiful, covering the earth!
over day and the moon to guide the night. God sprinkled diamond-looking stars into the night sky as a finishing touch to His masterpiece! On day 5, God created the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky.
On day 3, God said, “let the waters under the heavens be gathered together in one place and let dry land appear.” God called the dry land ‘earth,’ and so magnificent mountains, glorious landscapes and beautiful beaches were created.
On day 6, God created the animals of the earth. Elephants, lions, leopards, cows, sheep, monkeys, bears... You name it and God created it! The earth was suddenly becoming noisy and full but God was delighted with His creation! Finally, God created man, God created man in His image so that man could enjoy the earth and take care of it.
On day 4, God created the bright and beautiful sun and the shy but marvelous moon, the sun to rule
And on day 7, God rested because God was delighted with His glorious new creation.
TEACH YOUR KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE Bringing your child up in the ways of the Lord is not always easy, especially with the intense influences of media and people today. The best way to do this is by teaching them about God from an early age, which is why we provide Bible stories in every edition of Redemption. These can be used as bedtime stories to educate your child about God in a light hearted way and to also spend quality time with your child. We hope that you and your child are blessed by this!
