The most comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol’s early career in more than 25 years. With the backdrop of 1950s New York and its burgeoning advertising industry, Adman: Warhol before pop focuses on the formative years of one of the 20th century’s most influential artists. It provides surprising insights into the beginning of Warhol’s career, from his awardwinning work as a commercial illustrator through to his first, littleknown exhibitions. Adman includes over 300 objects – from rare drawings and photographs to vintage advertisements, artist books and recreated department store window displays – many on public display for the first time. This exhibition is a collaboration between the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney and The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. There’s also an unmissable range of programs, including a partnership with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2017 which presents a Queer Art After Hours on Wednesday 1 March and a Queer Thinking symposium.. plum pudding ice-cream terrine Impress with this easy to serve version of a classic Christmas pudding. INGREDIENTS • 500g Christmas pudding • 2 litres good-quality vanilla ice cream, softened • 250g pitted prunes • 1 cup cold tea • 1/2 cup caster sugar • 1 cup dry Marsala (see note) • Finely grated zest of 1 lemon, plus 2 tablespoons lemon juice

METHOD Step 1 Line a 1.75-litre loaf pan with plastic wrap, leaving enough overhanging to cover the top. Roughly chop the pudding and fold into the ice cream. Spoon ice cream mixture into the pan and press down well. Step 2 Cover with overhanging plastic wrap and freeze for 4 hours or overnight.

Step 3 Meanwhile, soak the prunes in the tea for 4 hours. Step 4 Combine the sugar, Marsala, lemon zest and juice in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Step 5 Add the prunes and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove the prunes with a slotted spoon and set aside. Step 6 Simmer the liquid for a further 5-6 minutes until slightly reduced and syrupy. Step 7 Return the prunes to the pan, allow syrup to cool, then chill until you are ready to serve the ice cream. Step 8 To serve: Invert the terrine on to a platter and spoon over the prunes and sauce. Source: www.taste.com.au

This has all the things you love about pudding, fruit, nuts and a classic dome shape, plus what you want in a summer dessert -- ice-cream! INGREDIENTS • 2.25L Streets Blue Ribbon Vanilla IceCream, softened • 2 x 125g punnets fresh raspberries • 80g unsalted pistachio kernels, coarsely chopped • 1 teaspoon rosewater essence (see note) • Honey, to drizzle • Fresh raspberries, extra, to serve • Unsalted pistachio kernels, extra, finely chopped, to serve

METHOD Step 1 Line a 2.5L (10-cup) capacity pudding basin with a double layer of plastic wrap, allowing the sides to overhang. Step 2 Place the ice-cream in a large bowl. Gently fold in the raspberries, pistachio and rosewater.Transfer to the prepared basin. Cover the surface with overhanging plastic wrap. Place in the freezer for 8 hours or overnight until firm. Step 3 Place a serving platter in the freezer to chill slightly. Turn the pudding onto the platter. Remove the plastic wrap and place in the freezer for 20 minutes or until firm. how to grow vegetables Growing your own vegetables is not only easy but it will also save you money. This step-by-step guide will show you how to prepare your soil, the importance of adding fertiliser, and how mulching helps your vegetables grow better. We’ll also give you a few tips on how to grow some of the more common vegetables like spinach, onions and peas. And remember, before you choose them, it’s important to consider whether your vegetables are suited to the season that you’re planting them in. STEP 1. PREPARE THE SOIL Before you plant any vegetables, prepare your garden beds by digging the soil and adding organic compost at least 1-2 weeks before you start planting. Most vegetables only need 15-20 centimetres of good soil for their roots to grow. If you’re planning to grow crops with deeper roots, like potatoes or carrots, dig and compost deeper – up to 30 centimetres. Water in the compost and let it break down before you plant your vegetables. To get the most out of your vegetable garden, choose vegetables that you will use and plant them at the right time of year. STEP 2. PLANTING SPINACH Spinach is a good source of Vitamin A and one of the healthiest sources of minerals and nutrients that you can grow. Gently remove the spinach plants from their container and separate each plant. Use the gardening trowel to dig a hole deep enough, so that the leaves are sitting just above the soil and cover the roots. Plant the rest of the spinach in a row, about 30 centimetres apart. STEP 3. PLANTING PEAS Peas are easy to grow and also help to improve the soil you’re growing them in. Take each pea plant out of its container. Dig a hole deep enough for the peas, so the leaves are sitting just above the soil. Put the peas in the hole, and then fill it in. When planting your peas, remember that they will need some kind of support as they grow, so take that into account when working out the distance between them. Ideally they should be about 30 centimetres apart.

STEP 5. FERTILISE YOUR VEGETABLE PLANTS Vegetables need regular fertilising when they’re growing. To give yours a good head start, and to help with the shock of being transplanted, dilute a seaweed concentrate, approximately two capfuls in 10 litres of water in a watering can. Soak your vegetables in this mixture. STEP 6. APPLY MULCH Mulch helps your plants grow in a number of ways. As it breaks down it will provide nitrogen to the soil and your plants, keep the roots cool in summer and stop weeds from growing in your vegetable garden. Apply the mulch around your vegetable plants but not touching them. If the mulch gets wet it can rot the plant. STEP 7. WATER THE VEGETABLES To give your vegetable garden a good start, water the plants at least every day for the first few days. Then reduce the amount of water you give them, which will encourage the plant’s roots to grow deeper as they look for water. This will also help the plant to grow, establish itself and produce home grown food for your kitchen table.

STEP 4. PLANTING ONIONS Onions are a popular vegetable because they are easy to grow and don’t take up a lot of space in your garden. After taking the onion seedlings out of their container, separate each plant by gently washing them in a bucket of water to get rid of the soil. Separate each plant and dig a shallow trench.
