The Mother’s Day Classic walk or run for breast cancer research was established in 1998 - it started from modest beginnings as a walk in the park and has grown into a major national community event. The founding organisers are Mavis Robertson, Former National Chair of Women in Super and Louise Davidson, National Chair, Mother’s Day Classic. The idea for the Mother’s Day Classic came from Mavis Robertson when she saw a similar event overseas. She came back from her trip and spoke to Women in Super about organising an event in Australia. Three years earlier, Louise Davidson had lost her mother to breast cancer at the age of 52. Louise had cared and supported her mother through her two-year battle with breast cancer. So when Mavis spoke about the event

lime and chilli chicken salad Fresh iceberg lettuce adds crunch to this zesty gluten-free salad.

INGREDIENTS • 500g chicken breast fillets • 2 teaspoons finely grated lime rind • 1 long green chilli, finely chopped • 2 garlic cloves, crushed • 1/4 cup lime juice • 2 tablespoons Australian extra virgin olive oil • 2 corn cobs, husks and silk removed • Olive oil cooking spray • 1/2 iceberg lettuce, roughly chopped • 1 avocado, sliced • 4 green onions, thinly sliced • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves METHOD Step 1 Place chicken in a glass or ceramic dish. Add lime rind, chilli, garlic, 2 tablespoons lime juice and 1 tablespoon oil. Rub to coat. Cover. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Step 2 Meanwhile, place corn in a large,

heatproof microwave-safe bowl. Add 2 tablespoons cold water. Cover. Microwave on HIGH (100%) for 2 minutes or until just tender. Remove corn from bowl. Pat dry with paper towel. Spray with oil. Step 3 Heat a barbecue chargrill on mediumhigh heat. Add chicken and corn. Cook chicken for 4 minutes each side or until browned and cooked through, and cook corn for 5 minutes, turning, until browned. Transfer chicken to a plate. Cover with foil. Rest for 5 minutes. Transfer corn to a chopping board to cool for 5 minutes. Step 4 Using a sharp knife, cut kernels from cobs. Slice chicken. Combine remaining lime juice and oil in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Arrange lettuce on a platter. Top with corn, avocado, onion, coriander and chicken. Drizzle with dressing. Serve. Source: www.taste.com.au

INGREDIENTS • Olive oil spray • 1 large brown onion, finely chopped • 2 tablespoons tandoori paste • 600g chicken breast fillets, excess fat trimmed, cut into 2cm pieces • 400g can no-added-salt chopped tomatoes • 125ml (1/2 cup) chicken stock • 55g (1/3 cup) cashews, finely chopped • 70g (1/4 cup) natural yoghurt • 75g baby spinach leaves • 2 cups steamed SunRice Basmati Rice • Chopped Lebanese cucumber, to serve • Fresh coriander leaves, to serve • Pappadums, to serve

METHOD Step 1 Heat a wok over medium-high heat. Spray with oil. Cook onion, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until golden. Add the tandoori paste and cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes or until aromatic. Step 2 Add the chicken and cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until browned. Stir in tomato and stock. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Step 3 Add the cashew and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until sauce thickens. Stir in the yoghurt and spinach. Divide the rice and chicken mixture among serving plates. Top with cucumber and coriander. how to seal a door Sealing the gaps between your door and door frame is a highly effective way to help draft proof your home. It can help reduce your heating and cooling costs as well as make your home a more comfortable place to live. It’s a simple job that’s quick to do. STEP 1. PREPARE DOOR FRAME

Prepare the surface of your door frame. External door frames tend to gather dirt, so wipe it down with a damp cloth. If you find rough edges or lumps in the frame, scrape them down with a paint scraper and neaten the surface up by giving it a light sand. STEP 2. INSTALL THE WEATHER SEAL TAPE

Start up in the corner where the door meets the jamb. Peel off the backing on the tape and stick it to the top of the door frame. Run the tape the whole way down to the floor, keeping it nice and straight. Try not to pull the tape too hard as you work down the face – you don’t want to

stretch it. Cut the tape and repeat the process for the opposite side and along the top. STEP 3. CUT THE ALUMINIUM WEATHER STRIP TO SIZE

drilled. Remove the strip and pre-drill holes with a slightly thinner bit than the screws. Install the screws into the holes – but don’t drive them all the way in. This way you can slide the weather strip down onto the screws. Once the strip is in place, push the flap down to make sure that the rubber strip is touching the sill the whole way along. When you’re happy that it’s sealing properly, tighten all the screws and secure the strip to the door.

Aluminium weather strips are made wider than the size of a standard door. You need to cut them down to size before fitting. Start by shutting your door. Mark where the frame meets the door. Open your door and put the weather strip up against the marks. Copy those marks onto the strip, then use a hacksaw and cutting blade to cut the strip.

STEP 5. MOUNT THE ACTUATING BUTTON ON THE DOOR FRAME

STEP 4. ATTACH THE WEATHER STRIP TO THE DOOR

The actuating button pushes the weather strip flap down as the door closes. To install the button, shut your door and push the flap down. Then hold the button in place, so that it keeps the strip flap down, and screw it in to place. It’s a good idea to mount the button on the hinge side of the door frame.
