LEBRON JAMES
Breaks NBA scoring record with his 38,388th point, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Lakers vs Thunders at Crypto.com Arena, Lebron James sank a 21-foot turnaround with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter giving him 16 points in the period, the necessary 36 points he needed to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career NBA scoring record.
A new King is crowned with his 38,388th point in his 20-year career and he’s not done yet. Congratulations to LeBron for breaking such an incredible record, this counts as a colossal sports achievement. It took almost 4 decades, but the NBA finally has a new all-time scoring champion.
LeBron James was just a kid himself when he made his NBA debut in 2003 at 18 years old. James was raised by his mother Gloria in Akron, Ohio for his elementary and high school years before turning to the NBA. James Married his high school sweetheart Savannah in 2013, 10 years after being drafted into the NBA.
James and his wife have three children together. Their oldest son, LeBron James Jr., better known to the world as Bronny, was born in October of 2004 and is currently being recruited to top colleges across the country for his own basketball talents. James and his wife had their second son, Bryce in June of 2007. Bryce is now 15 years old and is a very talented basketball player himself, already drawing comparisons to his father. Finally, the James family welcomed their only daughter Zhuri in October 2014.
LeBron James is one of the most accomplished players in NBA history. He has been named to 18 AllStar games and 18 All-NBA Teams. He won MVP awards in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013. James won 4 championships in his NBA career. He won 2 with the Miami Heat in 2021 and 2013, he won one with the Cavaliers in 2016, and he won 1 again with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. James was named Finals MVP in all 4 championship wins and is the only player in NBA history to win a title with 3 different teams.
Along with these amazing accomplishments, James has also led the league in scoring once and in assists once. He is a 6-time All-Defensive Team selection and led the league in minutes played 3 times. He has won 2 Olympic Gold Medals and 1 Bronze while also being a member of the 2012 gold medal-winning FIBA AmeriCup team.
LeBron James is also a giving member of the community. He founded the LeBron James Family Foundation which raises money for several different programs that provide for youth throughout the country. These programs include the Boys And Girls Club Of America, After School All-Stars, The Children’s
Defense Fund, Gabriel’s Angle Foundation, and ONEXONE.
Through this foundation, James has also started the I Promise Program. Through this program, James opened an elementary school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio in 2018. The school has a goal to teach students from grade one through grade eight and affords at-risk youth opportunities that otherwise they may not have. Every graduating student has a paid scholarship waiting for them at the University Of Akron courtesy of the pre-existing Akron I Promise Network. u
